This is a video abstract on synthetic and real data examples of tracking (ie estimating backazimuth) of seismic energy as a function of time with a single (!) station approach. We make use of classic seismometer and rotation sensor data. The open-access paper can be downloaded here: agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2020JB021112

omg you are wonderful
This is GOLD
Great work
Is the python code or video available?
yeahh i was also wondering abt it :,((((
Thanks, a nice a simple explanation!
Hi! Is the video of convergence tests made? Thanks for the video!!
Thanks so much for this! I was pulling my hair out with incomplete information on this! I had no idea this was setting up a matrix but it makes sense to find weights that consider all three data points.
hi ! very nice in some book when refered to Staggered grid write the relation df/dx(x+h/2)=(f(x+h)-f(x))/h how produce this relation ?
Thanks a lot for this!!! You should research Promo-SM!
Thanks for this helpful video! I'm currently doing the exercises in your textbook, and I'm having trouble understanding the grid staggering for the 4-point derivative. Are there any resources you could point me to that cover the derivation in more detail? Thanks!
Hi! It is hard to find detailed derivations in papers. Do you mean the derivation of the operator? That is simply done with Taylor expansion at points x-1.5 dx, x - 0.5 dx, x+0.5dx, x+1.5dx ... as described in another video or my book ...
@@heinerigel2610 Oh, I see-thank you so much! I realize my issue now; I was trying to calculate f' at one of the points instead of between the points.
Hello! Why is error least at 45 angle and highest at 0. Not intuitive. Along the diagonal, the grid spacing is more than along x or z. So how come the error is the least? Can some one please explain or refer something. Thanks. Ramdev
It is indeed somehow counterintuitive! But if you draw a plane wave at 45 deg into a regular mesh you can see that the effective spacing between the planes is smaller. The math confirms that.
Excellent rotational Seismology
pomfh vyn.fyi
how to write a non-uniform staggered grid equation?
You can use Taylor series as described here, just change the coordinates of the points: ruclips.net/video/1Mbe5RQi8Pg/видео.html
@@LMUSeismology Thank you very much, I got it. If I use different grid sizes in 2D, i.e. dx and dz is not equal. Then, how to choose the number of grid points per minimum wavelength in this case?
@@lanirm475 If wave propagation happens in all directions you always have to make the smallest wavenumber happy (i.e., give it enough number of grid points per wavelength). That is the larger one of dx or dz is the key parameters.
Thanks for the great video
Very clear video, thanks!
Nice job . Good luck.
