Building off of what you said, that if Aaliyah was really here today, she’d be told to shut up. People only truly cared about her once she died. She died so young, with so much potential for a greater career. But because of that, people never got to see the ups and downs she would’ve made in her career. They were never given a chance to villainize her for mistakes she would’ve made. A lot of people will discredit victims by pointing out their flaws and saying things like “Well, why didn’t you do this?” Or “Okay, but you did this thing to deserve it.” She died vulnerable and unprotected like you said, and that is why people use her absence as a way to push for these pseudo beliefs and disguise it as “caring” for her all while villainizing another woman in her place. She’s being used as some type of propaganda. And it pisses me off when people compare her to artists like Rhianna or Beyoncé, when these artists are nothing alike. Beyoncé is not a mastermind, just another woman to shift the blame on.
