Kristian, now that you have had this for a few months, how has it performed. Are you still happy with your purchase? Is it still running strong?
Hi. No problems yet. My longest running job was 3 times 40min and it did not overheat. I only cut hard or soft woods. Two thumbs up from me:)
Nice demo. where did you get this spindle? From Inventables? What power supply are you running with it? Finally, did the spindle come with a matching speed controller rated at 500W?

Hey how has this spindle held up? Do you feel like it is underpowered? Do you feel you could push it much deeper/faster than you are doing in this current video? I have been quite tempted to try this spindle but haven't been able to find many reviews.
Hi. I have not used it very much since this because it's been summer, but it holds up nice. Right before I shot this clip I had some problems with the belt tension and pulleys. This caused some slipping, so I ran this test at a very conservative speed. In this clip I ran the feed rate at 400mm per min/1mm depth per pass. I have ran it successfully at 800mm after this with MDF. Its very quiet and there seems to be enough torque. In my experience it's a very good choice. (It gets hot, but has never overheated after 45min jobs)
For anyone visiting this video years later, I've had this spindle for a few months, my usual cutoff toolpaths run it with a 1/8 endmill at 12k(full) rpm, 2200mm/m, 2mm DOC. It can be pushed further, I could do up to 3mm DOC 2600mm/m but the finish starts losing quality. Would try the same bit in 4 flute but I'd need a faster moving machine. Other bits as I've used it, not that they're ideal, but it has worked for me: - V bit 1/4 60deg: 3mm DOC, 1800mm/m - V engrave 1/8 bit 20deg: 2mm DOC, 1400mm/m (it could snap) - 1/2 flat router bit: 1mm DOC, 1900mm/m (flattening), 65% stepover - 1/8 tapered ballnose 2.25° and normal ballnose: finish depth, 1600mm/m, 10% stepover - 1/8 flat endmill for profile (cutoff): 2mm DOC, 2200mm/m - 1/8 flat endmill for pocket and 3d roughing: 2200mm/m, 3mm DOC, 40% stepover. I really need to start testing 1/4 bits, especially the tapered ballnose for faster finishing, and downcut flat endmill for pockets and roughing. Have fun!
how is the noise compared to the dremel included on full kit?
Hi. Very quiet, as night and day compared to the stock spindle. The noise you hear in the video is mainly the milling hitting the material, and the vacuum.
