[AC Circuits] Magnetically Coupled Circuits
The circuits we have studied so far can be considered as conductively coupled, since loops affect each other by current conduction. When two loops with or without contact affect each other through magnetic fields, they are said to be magnetically coupled. And this will be the focus of this video's discussion.

Thanks. I was looking for something like this to use with my students. This should be good to find eigenvalues from the characteristic polynomial.
And characteristic polynomial you find with Cayley Hamilton or with trace of the matrix powers and then with Newton-Girard formulas and Vieta formulas Cayley Hamilton helps to get system of linear equations for the coefficients Trace of matrix powers allows to get symmetric function of the eigenvalues Newton-Girard formulas allows to express this symmetric function in terms of elementary symmetric functions Vieta formulas allows to express elementary symmetric functions in terms of coefficients of the polynomial Is numerically a good idea to find eigenvalues as roots of characteristic polynomial ? I saw opinions that it is not
Have you tried other methods for eigenvalues like power methods QR method
@@holyshit922 Hi. I ended up using the Faddeev-LeVerrier method, which is quite beautiful. Le Verrier was a discoverer of planet Neptune, so I have a few stories for the students.
In the end of the course they applied the eigenvalue method to find the two operation modes of a coil-mass-coil-mass-coil system.
@@chx75 They had done it quite differently than I did Inspired by mistyped recursive formula found in tables i derived myself correct recursive formula for coefficients of characteristic polynomial based on following I assumed that trace of matrix powers gives sum of powers of eigenvalues This sums are symmetric functions and Newton - Girard formulas allow to express them in terms of elementary symmetric functions With Vieta formulas I could express elementary symmetric functions in terms of coefficients They (Fadeev & LaVerrier) had subtracted constant multiple of identity matrix but I didn't do this Why they did it
