I'm an amateur saxophonist, flutist, harmonica player, composer and arranger. Since retiring, I've rekindled my interest in playing, composing and arranging music. This is my golf! I love the Simpsons' character 'Bleeding Gums Murphy' and always benefit from his wisdom. Love his sandals!

I'm a displaced Washingtonian, now living in the Rehoboth Beach area. I lived in the Northern Virginia area for many years in the 1980s through the early 2000s. Being an amateur musician, I was pretty familiar with the Washington music scene. But there was a very special musician that came of age during this period. Her name was Eva Cassidy. She had a voice and approach to music that was so new and refreshing. Did I say she had a voice? Oh my God, what a voice! She could just melt you.
Unfortunately, Eva's life was cut-short by cancer at the tender age of 33. Dear God, what a loss to the world! Her music will live on as long as there are discerning listeners! Thank you Eva!

This composition is based on Johannes Brahms 51 Exercise No.16a. It's the verbatim exercise, except that I added a simple melody, orchestrated it and take it through all 12 keys. My wife and I moved to the Rehoboth Beach, Lewes Delaware area in 2021. We love spending time in Lewes during the off-season...spring and fall are delightful! I was 18 years old when McCoy Tyner release his album in 1976. I was already a McCoy Tyner fan, but I was blown away by this album. So now a retired dude, with time on my hands, I decided to attempt an orchestration of this tune. I did the arrangement in Finale. All the instruments are virtual except my flute and piccolo playing.

My 20 something granddaughter has quite a set of pipes. On her visit this summer, she suggested that we record 'Al Last' made famous by Etta James in her 1960 recording. So we put a version in the 'can'. We used a backing track. I'm filling on the tenor saxophone. The lover owls our my nod to Mensa, of which I am a member.

As a retiree, I started to try and recreate some of Dan's tunes in my little makeshift home studio. This was one of my projects. I arranged the tune using Finale.
