Great tutorial…but is there a way to delete some of the created curves without deleting the entire outline? For example I have a complex part with holes in it that I would like removed. I can select the individual curves but I cannot find a way to delete them without deleting the entire “shadow curve” outline

Interesting to see that OnShape's "Variables Studio" is a bit like NX's "Expressions", albeit less capable. Unlike SolidWorks' "Equations Manager" which is a bit of a jumble compared to the straightforward layout in NX's Expressions and OnShape's Variables Studio. Could you show an OnShape example that actually uses formulas, similar to the more complex use of formulas in several of your examples of NX expressions? The example above is effectively just a parameter table - no expressions/formulas are involved, just variable names and constant values. Maybe repeat in OnShape your NX tutorial creating a wave spring via NX Expressions? Thanks!

Honestly, no, I'm not interested in OnShape tutorials here. I come here for NX tips, there are tons of other RUclipsrs covering OnShape. That said, it is nice to see that the former SolidWorks people who started OnShape FINALLY corrected SolidWorks bogus default XYZ orientation. All MCAD should default to Z-up, with Front view being the XZ plane and Top view being the XY plane. Z-up - just like they taught us in all of our engineering classes, and all machine tools use, and all 3d printers use, and all CMMs use, and SolidWorks got wrong from the get-go and never had the guts (or smarts) to correct ; -)

It is interesting to me, though, that OnShape seems to have taken a number of cues from NX, for example the XYZ gnomon with the cube for ease and speed of orienting the view, the "Variables Studio" is a wee bit like NX's "Expressions" (although NX's Expressions is far richer - so far), and OnShape dialog boxes are a bit more like NX dialog boxes than they are like SolidWorks dialog boxes. Also, OnShape's built-in data management and real-time collaboration capability is quite interesting, due to OnShape being built on a database paradigm rather than a file paradigm. For modeling and simulation/analysis, NX is head and shoulders above the rest, but OnShape's choice to make their foundation a database manager rather than a file-based system, is groundbreaking for MCAD and therefor worth watching.

I know that NX expression is so powerfull. But how we use this to find height of inner volume of bottle/container, I mean how to exactly make volume marking in the bottle/container? For example like meassure jar, etc. I remember I found video in youtube that someone use feature to automate process finding inner volume, he gave target let's say 1L, and step. NX will do trim inner shape (inner volume) till it close to the target. It is like doing trials & errors but in auto way. I lost that video. I think it will very usefull in making meassurment marker in a jar (blender). Thanks

Thanks for your support. We can do a video solely on that soon! The wave geometry linker can be used to "import" a "copy" of whatever you want from another part file. You can import datums, faces, bodies, etc. These can be associative to the original or not associative and basically be a copy of the original to be used as a reference. It's a little more nuanced than this, but that is the basic idea!

Hello. 3D texturing was added in version 1872 in 2019. NX12 unfortunately does not offer this feature.

This is great. I have used this to represent windings on complex shapes and ferrite cores. I would create a helix, then use project to a surface representing the winding shape. The ferrite was made into a deformable part. You gave good tips to improve the methods. Keep going.

Please answer me, i as user inventor for many years come to nx for test, but nx very complicate and hard...design is very difficult and a designer need a simple software ...nx has very good feature, but work with nx is very bad experience
How can it be? NX it's much easier than Inventor. If you find difficulties maybe it's time to re-learn CAD fundamentals and not just pushing buttons
There is certainly a learning curve with NX and it is very common for new users to feel overwhelmed when learning it! We have a few videos that you might find helpful.
