While collecting the seeds from my Signet Marigolds for this springs planting I was taken back by how tiny the flowers were and how nice they looked arranged with other flowers. I set out to sketch and paint a few for my post this week.

AUTUMN CRAFT DAY I found this simple little craft project that I wanted to try. Everything I needed was at the Dollar Tree, except I already had the Mod Podge and jute twine, super glue and 3 AAA batteries on hand. Just attach the leaves to the outside of the jar with super glue and let it dry, then apply Mod Podge to the leaves and glass, let it dry and then place a push light in the lid, paint the lid any color you like, and wrap jute twine or ribbon of your choice around the neck of the jar and you have a cute festive lantern to adorn your table or shelf. . . . . . #fyp #craft #craftday #crafts #dollartreecraft #autumncraft #fallcraft #leaflantern #pdxart #kc_faith_art_journaling #pdxartist #pdxartwork #crafting

KOI QUICK SKETCH and PAINTING The sketch was quick but the painting was much longer 😁 I didn’t time it but just wanted to challenge myself.

THE VILLAGE LIFE This village painting was reminiscent of times when I lived in a close-knit community of families and elders who looked out for each other and shared in each others lives. Where people gathered together for neighborly celebrations and picnics, it truly was a blissful time. ********************************** “For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭14‬ ‭ *********************************** The slide shows the quick sketch and how I used the painting in my journal.

YIKES! So many tomatoes 🍅 🍅 I’m so thankful I bought a Food Dehydrator a few years back to preserve all the fruit and vegetables I’m getting in the garden this year. I’ve frozen a lot too. PROCESS: Wash, slice to 3/8” thick, and dry for 6-12 hrs, great for stews and soups or powder in a blender, and add water for paste or sauce. Don’t have a dehydrator? Try sun-dried tomatoes.

GRUNGE ABSTRACT This is a little darker and edgier in style, but I felt like getting a little dirty with this painting.😁 What is dirty art? Dirty art, or artistic upcycling (a much more sophisticated term), is really just artwork made from things people throw away. My art was painted on upcycled food packaging material.😄

FINDING GREAT GRANDPA A few years back I located information about my 4th Great Grandpa and found much written about him back in the early 1800’s. He was one of the preachers at the Red River Meeting House in Logon Co. Kentucky at the time of the Second Great Awakening and also traveled to another church once a week 75 miles away by horseback to preach. I will remember those who fought and are fighting for this Great country from my great great grandfather who fought in wwi to my great grandfather of WWII in the Pacific. And my great grandfather in the Korean war. the Vietnam war gulf war project Iraqi freedom and the war on terror may Osama bin laden burn in hell.
