[Wikipedia] Wall pieces were so named because they were designed to be used along the walls of fortifications. They were equipped with a yoke at the point of balance, which tapered into a pivot, which could be inserted into several sockets along the walls, which would absorb the recoil of the piece and also provide a stable gun platform.
Wall pieces could also be mounted on very light carriages for service in the field, usually in support of the larger guns. They were also used on small naval vessels.

Shoulder cannon 😂
@@danieljosiahcotton yes it’s 46 pounds …. Can you imagine firing this fro. The shoulder?
Wall gun 🤔 Interesting
in many respects just an oversized musket; now too large to carry. hope you are doing well.
Very Larger musket; about 46 pounds so its mounted on a carriage its smoothbore but as you can see accurate at 100 yards. Hope you enjoyed this pards --LT.
I had no idea this was a thing
I wasn't aware either.. but its fun. thanks pard for the comment.
I heard of the punt gun, sure, but not this

Pretty good protection for a thin sheet of metal: 17 grains made dents(?) & 25 grains punched thru. Does that thin sheet of metal resist bayonet thrusts at all?
good question, I believe the answer is yes... but would be fun to test this out. THANKS pard for the comment. and very soon I'll release 2 more videos on this body armor series ... vs Gatling Gun and vs artillery (cannon)
Hi, Sirs. You guys fired at one sheet which seemed kind of thin, but I thought you had mentioned two sheets. Was the ACW era body armor thicker (two sheets)?

When was packing cap and ll weapons with grease to prevent chain fires invented?
This was used in the cap and ball era - grease would waterproofing and also help against chain fire due to the physical barrier.
I feel like if they just added a fore grip it would have been a actual decent gun
The 7 p’s of military preparedness negates the chain fire issue. A felt wad between powder and shot or grease covering each cylinder fixes chain fire
No. Chain fire is prevented by using proper sized bullets so that the front of the chamber is sealed, AND properly fitting caps. Most chain fires are initiated from the rear of the cylinder, through the nipple, due to improper size caps not sealing the nipples.
That is really nice.
Not today blue belly.
Awesome
Always great stories. Keep up the good work. God Bless America and keep our history alive.❤
I wonder why after the invention of metallic cartridges Colt didn't remake this to use them. I think a buffalo gun with 5 shots would have a big demand.
Good point pard. Wounder if the tube magazine if the Henry and Spencer showed 5or6 shots was too few? Welcome others perspective.
Watch 3:10 to Yuma 2007. One of the men in the film has a metallic conversion. It’s an 1855 colt with a scope on it

Wow that is quite a history piece to have in your personal collection!
very true.. hope you and yours are doing well pard.
I heard about the problems associated with these rifles if I'm not mistaken they were not well liked by either side
chain fire does have a way of messing up your day.
Nice ending for this event. And salute to the 26th North Carolina for carrying their colors over the stone wall, and going the farthest before having to fall back. That unit had the highest casualty rate of any unit, north or south. Mauled on the first day of battle, yet, there they were on the third day......
Hazzza for our reenactor pards in 26 NC and reflection on the those that served 160 years ago. I did put some thought into the ending and have used the same conclusion of the mock battle with the playing of taps but more importantly to capture the good will between the two sides of this great conflict. Nicely done Pard!

The Battery had both canister and grape shot as "displays" but not for shooting -- only solid shot.
Were you shooting full powder charges?

That one hit was nasty. The recoil is always cool to see since we don't see that reenactments
the recoil is neat on live fire .... its possible there was a reduced charge in the piece at the range of only 100 yards was know. Loading to the max of about 1.5 pounds will add a bit extra. THANKS pard for the comment.
Btw that guy in that British uniform looks great! But the civil war uniforms are my most favorite
