Foster Kent is an Austria based music production company specialized in creating audio designs and music imaging. Since the company was founded in 1989, Foster Kent has worked for a large number of public and private broadcasting corporations, including ARD, NDR, ORF and WDR, as well as Gazprom-Media, RTL, Emmis Communications and CBS Radio. In addition the company develops brand audio for global brands like Porsche and Red Bull.

My uncle, Lee MURPHY, used to be on 1010 WINS. I liked listening to WINS whenever my family and I wanted news. Listened to 1130 WNEW for music and really enjoyed William B. Williams.
Oh, I remember him. When I was listening (1978-79), he was near the tail end of his run with WINS, handling weekend mornings at the top of the hour (followed by Allen Shaw at :20 and Paul Sherman at :40). Though you wouldn't know it listening to the station, WINS had quite a few colorful characters over its history of providing "all news, all the time."
@@wmbrown6 Glad you remembered my uncle. I know he enjoyed broadcasting the news on WINS. He started out at a small station IIRC near Pittsburgh. My dad and I listened to WNEW whenever we were doing some chore together: car repairs, maintenance, etc.
@@davidmurphy8190 - I seem to remember a few people on WINS had previously worked in differing capacities on WNEW - among them Bob Howard and, later, Bob Hagen.

I used to listen to LEE HARRIS in the morning (smacking up them "FOSTER KENT" Motion Mixes) while working in late 2012/early 2013 at the Empire State Building installing new radio equipment...on a small transistor radio in my temporary engineering office, that's when I even FIRST HEARD of 1010 WINS-AM; I was born & raised in Los Angeles, CA and would travel the country working on such installations. I retired in 2019, and for some reason, you know, "circadian rhythms" and all, I found myself waking up every morning at 2AM or so, back here in L.A., for my morning Cup-O'-Coffee. I'd turn on, at that time, the Entercom/Radio Channel and once again, listen to Lee in the morning. Then came the BIG CONGLOMERATE TRANSITION to "The Audacy App", but I'd stay true and still listen to him on my desktop system. It was truly a very, VERY sad day (at least for me...I don't know about anybody else; Earthling or Alien) when he left WINS to take up his new position with NewsNation Cable Network. We became fairly good, long-distance radio junkie friends, in a way, during the 2019 to about 2023 period. If he said something backwards-flip, hilarious (which he OFTEN VERILY DID) in his "NORMAL, BUT EXTREMELY SNARKY, PRETEND LIKE HE DIDN'T REALIZE HE JUST SAID WHAT HE JUST DID" type of dead-pan humor, I'd record it on my WAV file software, edit it up, to make him sound EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS THAN HE REALLY IS, convert it to an MP3 file and email it to him JUST SECONDS before the bottom of the 1/2 hour mark, so when he walked out of the control room into his office, to down his next EXTRA HI-CAL SNICKERS BAR or MOLDY, BACTERIA-LADEN DOUGHNUT, FROM THREE DAYS AGO, he'd check his email...AND THERE I WAS...mocking his news narrative commentary, TO THE VERY HIGHEST POSSIBLE DEGREE!!! Dang! I miss those days. Those mornings would ALWAYS, without any shadow...of any doubt, threw an extra brick of caffeine in my own, 2AM, Cup-O'-Coffee, here in Los Angeles! Bless you, good brother Lee Harris... IRONY NOTE: He started with WINS in 1993, I believe, THE SAME EXACT YEAR I started with the radio network I was with in L.A., that same very year...of 1993!!! In the mornings, when Mr. Harris first came to the station, he replaced another WINS legend, Paul Smith (1931-2021) who, in the last two years of his run with the station (through October 1995), handled the bottom-of-the-hour shift in PM drive. In fact, when 1010 WINS had an actual website with bios of their key reporters and anchors and sports people and such, Mr. Harris invoked Mr. Smith in terms of carrying on his end-of-shift reports before handing over to the next anchor (mostly Judy DeAngelis, though for a few years after 2014 he was followed in the AM by Brigitte Quinn, and then up to the end Susan Richard).
@@wmbrown6 Wow, thank you so good sir, for that so very special, extra piece of 1010 WINS news radio history. As for me, as far as my "listening years" of 1010 WINS, Lee was THEE MOST integral, as well as "entertaining" part of their programming day; hands down. BolsaChicaRadio
They just changed these jingles to something else. Yours was the best. Sad to see it go.

M.E. deutlich schlechter als das vorherige Package. Es klingt alles nach „Einheitsbrei“. Das angeblich „Organische“, was beim letzten Mal noch herausgehoben werden sollte, es ist komplett verschwunden. Schade!

Gibt es irgendwo eine Möglichkeit sich noch mehr Jingels aus dieser Verpackung anzuhören? Z.B. Show-Opener Abends oder Tagsüber?
The new sound design sounds cheap, but once again it fits in well with RTL, the stultification channel. Das neue Sounddesign hört sich billig an, aber es passt damit wieder mal gut zu RTL, dem Verdummungssender.
I miss the teletype sounds.
I prefer this one to the current one they have no.

1010 wins gives the most accurate news in terms of weather, news, time, etc. Better than all the televised main stream media stations which waste a lot of time while giving us news and updates. It's all a show to them. 1010 gets right to it. Listened to 1010 while growing up.
2:43 mir tut nur der Monitor leid. Wenn der in der ganzen Sendezeit immer auf den Screen haut ist der Bildschirm schnell Geschichte. Aber warum macht er das? Ist es etwa peinlich keinen Touchscreen zu haben????!!!!

Ne, schau mal genau hin. Er bedient das Programm mit der Maus. Beim Berühren des Bildschirms sind teils deutliche Eindrückeffekte zu sehen, die es bei Touchscreens so nicht gäbe

Tolle Jingles!!
Lee Harris is great: Smarts and the subtle humor that is so rare in journalism or entertainment today. I’m going to miss John Montone, but I’m going to be very sorry when Lee calls an end to it. Hopefully we’ll get at least 30 more years out of him.
I frankly have more nostalgia for Mr. Montone's predecessor, the legendary Paul Parker . . . one of two WINS'ers to have also had ties to the comics (prior to joining WINS as a reporter in 1962, he was a comic book illustrator; the other was Linda Sutter, WINS' "inflation fighter" in the mid-to-late 1970's, who would fashion storylines for the "Brenda Starr, Reporter" comic strip from 1982 to 1985).
The "world renowned opener" featured on the first button -- along with the rest of the "Motion Mixes" were recently done away with. Disappointing. The new top-of-hour open has a music bed that just runs without any flourish/impact between stories, all the way through the weather, doesn't change until they get to traffic. Seems like a step backward. Funny thing is, you don't even need Motion Mixes to make a sound like this, just stack a bunch of really long music beds in any of the many radio automation systems that offer a hotkey to fade one item at the same time it fires the next.
