I have been operating my transient rental since 2009. I've never had one complaint from a neighbor, never have the police been called, the fire department been called. Zero complaints in 11 years of owning and managing this property remotely. I have been paying my RITA taxes every year since 2009. This person stated doesn't want people buying property " just making money " is absurd. I also own traditional rental property. I buy these houses and pour all of my money my heart and soul into making them better properties and I'm providing beautiful clean well kept homes to people who need housing. I am dumbfounded that somehow residential rental property is offensive in Huron Ohio. If someone is a bad landlord, I'm okay with them being fined. But to penalize all transient rentals for the rare nuisance, is EXTREMELY heavy handed

Because a short term rental made good sense for me in Huron, I paid above the median house price for a property then invested $80,000 to improve it. All the tenants are thrilled and many local residents on the street have thanked me for cleaning up the distressed property. This was all made possible by the opportunity of a short term rental. I plan on beautifying several more homes as well but if this passes, I certainly will not buy and do A class renovations on any properties in Huron in the future. If that is the purpose of this proposal, then it will have served it's purpose. My wife and I live 35 minutes away and only use our short term rental for ourselves on occasion so it sounds like we would be prohibited from provided our top notch customer service that we currently provide and would need to spend money on a local agent for inferior service. Be careful of these motions. They have lasting impacts that will be detrimental to how beautiful Huron's community is.
