The only factor limiting growth in Whitehorse is housing. That said, construction is booming, and the quality of life rivals or even surpasses many locales to the south, and the city's growth remains remarkable. Unlike other northern Canadian areas, the Yukon has excellent year-round road access, and several flights daily to Vancouver and other points south.

Actually, I'm not moving to Halifax in Canada. I live in Halifax, England. Please don't count me as everyone.

If you are loaded and cost of living doesn't matter, if you don't mind long, cold winters, if you are only interested in scenic views and social activities, this might be a good list. However, Colorado for example, has one of the highest cost-of-living levels in the US. Winters can be brutal. If you like skiing, ok, maybe, but you'll pay through the nose for food, utilities, and healthcare. Idaho is beautiful, as is Wyoming, but -40 degree temps will kill you, literally. You don't mention housing costs in any of these states. Just finding an affordable place to live can be a challenge, unless, as I said, you are loaded. I would live in Wyoming if I could take the winters. Large, open, quiet, beautiful spaces. Great place for a summer home, but I wouldn't be caught there in winter. Proximity to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier Nat'l Parks is almost enough for me to try it, though.

I moved to Indiana from California about 3 months ago. So far I am finding the groceries a bit pricy, but my rent is very low. Affordable for a senior. I have geo-thermal heating and cooling and it, so far, has been pretty low cost. Car registration is about 1/3 the cost of CA, and gas is about $2.50 a gallon less. I am loving the people. Real salt of the Earth folks, friendly and kind.

Should probably learn to spell "Midland", not "Mindland." Midland, Amarillo, and Lubbock are small cities, not small towns. McKinney, Frisco, and Rockwall, are all exurbs of Dallas, and Montgomery is an exurb of Houston. not "small towns" anymore. Georgetown maybe you could argue being a small town and not just an exurb of Austin, but wait a few years. The only place on this list that truly qualifies as a small town is Fredericksburg. Midland is NOT a great place to live, just a good place to work if you're in the oil industry. Rockwall is on Lake Ray Hubbard, not "Rockwall Lake." Galveston's waters are the opposite of "crystal clear."

I have to laugh that you went to the worst part of MS. There are many great things about on why you would want to live in MS. You honestly talked about the climate for not moving to MS. What about Texas, Arizona, and many other hot areas. I can say that you can’t find people to work, there are jobs. As far as people struggling, that’s the economy that this country is in right now!
