I think they skipped it because the D-Day bombing missions were not particularly successful in terms of destroying beach defenses. Approximately 13,000 bombs dropped, but most of them missed due to low fog and clouds obscuring the targets.

@@VigilanteCipher that’s because they treated their officers corps as a gentlemen’s club not a fighting organization. Officers were traditionally from rich families and the corps was incredibly political. Seeing them live it up when on leave was less about them actually causing problems but more that it was “unseemly”. Because the pilots were American officers who were making them look bad by association

WW2 was a joint effort from the Allies, everyone did their part. But your comment is disrespectful, arrogant, & mostly incorrect. Britain did a hell of a lot of fighting virtually alone without the Americans. Most of the fighting in the Mediterranean, North Africa, & central Asia was done without any American involvement. The Battle of Britain ensured that any German invasion of Great Britain would be unsuccessful, which was done entirely without American involvement. The USA pulled a hell of a lot of weight in the victory of WW2, but you weren't the sole players. Every single nation pulled their part, & without Great Britain holding off the Axis on multiple continents, the American's wouldn't have even had the means to stage a war against the Axis in Europe.

@ I’m aware of this and the fact that the U.S. supplied countless materials for the European front and helped develop the mustang and design flaws with the spitfire. British tanks were notoriously horrible and the biggest problem as seen here was that the officers acted like their ranks were a gentlemen’s club and not a fighting organization. Countless stories and anecdotes about British officers acting all posh while giving completely incompetent orders led to American officers hating working with them. Even geniuses among them were ostracized by the officer corps simply because they didn’t fit in or were “undignified”. Like the funny tanks being dismissed as worse than useless until they were proven incredibly effective. The British wooden bomber being dismissed because it wasn’t in vogue until it was their most effective bomber. The Dday floating harbor plans being given over not to the ungentlemanly officer who grew up working on bridges but to the brother of the officer of the committee who was barely qualified for the job but was an officer of the engineering corps. These officers were the biggest problem with the western front even when compared to the nazis themselves.

​@@taglion8795 To be fair, American logistics was more than effective. We fought the axis not only in Europe but in Italy, North Africa, the Pacific, and also in China. But I do agree that it was a joint effort

@@taglion8795it’s true that it was a team effort. I have argued this many times. It’s also true that the US and Britain put a lot into winning the war. However, this scene summed up the British officer corps fairly decently. His comment on the US having to step in to help Britain finish its fight is also not without merit (although once again I can’t stress enough that it was a team effort, not simply America). The intervention of the US prevented Germany from strangling Britain with its U Boats. The British did nothing when Hitler broke the Versailles and Locarno treaties. They did nothing when Germany annexed the Sudetenland, Austria, and demilitarized the Rhineland. They did nothing when they expanded the army, created the Luftwaffe, and even agreed to a naval arms agreement allowing Germany a navy 35% the size of its own. It also, much to France’s chagrin, went easy on Germany time and again in the interwar years in regard to reparations to the point where France being a victor of the Great War can be seen almost as an insulting joke. So his comment is not an altogether unfair comeback to this situation in the clip

​@acidbrotherhood You say all of that with a straight face. Britain was active in Europe, Africa, and the Far east. Granted America is a much bigger economy and I wont argue the massive contributions made. But Britain fought in all of those fronts with people from across the empire from Australia to Canada and even had Polish RAF pilots to make up for the lack of experience. Take a look at the Mulberry harbours and how long it took for a storm to sweep away Mulberry A and you'll see 'effective' logistics. America is fantastic as grand scale economics and logistics but has a tendency to rush to the finish line. America is much bigger and had a much more centralised power structure to rely upon as opposed to the then bloated corpse of the Empire with scattered tribuaries.

It’s called masters of air, but to be honest it’s not even that good of a show it was supposed to be the equivalent of the pacific an band of brothers but to be honest it was a boring ass show
