Here is Dan and his band, Eighteen, in concert at Kutz Camp in 2010, with lyrics so you can sing along. The words are a blessing for the study of Torah. Sorry about the camera shaking...it settles down after a minute!

Jean Carroll (Stand-up Comedy)
Просмотров 95 тыс.13 лет назад
Jean Carroll was the first famous female standup comic. She died in 2011 at age 98. Until now, video of her has not been available. I got this from a collector, and hope that it will be of interest to students and fans of standup comedy.
Hanukkah in Santa Monica (Tom Lehrer)

Someone else put this video together in tribute to one of Tom Lehrer's greatest songs, but the original upload was out-of-sync, so I re-sync'd it and added several new slides.

Hundreds of thousands of people enjoyed this historic footage before it was zapped from another channel, but here it is again. I'm sure Mary Weiss has seen it, and I'll bet she loves it (except for that heavy dose of attitude from the late Steve Allen.)
Roseanne sings the National anthem

My original upload (under another name) was zapped, along with 30 or so other clips. This one had several hundred thousand views and hundreds of comments covering every inch of the political spectrum. But art is art, and politics is politics...and sports (thank God) is sports.
1:32
I always thought that was a disgrace. She sure got booed out of the stadium. Shortly after that happened, I went to a triple A baseball game. When they said something about the National Anthem, I shouted What ever you do, don't get Rosanne Barr.
Greetings Andrea Ramos of New York. I just learned about your mom. I was watching a RUclips video about "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." I watched TMMM because it reminded me of New York City in the 50's and 60's. I grew up in Westchester county and my father worked in NYC. I definitely watched the Ed Sullivan show and besides seeing the Beatles I liked watching the comedians. I remember Totie, Joan, Phyllis, and Moms. However, I don't recall seeing your mom. Why? Well...... I just watched a few of her Ed Sullivan appearances. EXCELLENT! Maybe I don't recall her because her jokes must have went way over my young head at the time. Now I can appreciate her! Thanks.
THIS IS AS MUCH OF A CHANUKAH TRADITION AS POTATO LATKES!!
Lol I'm literally spending hanukkah in santa monica😂
Happy hannuka
Dude is 96 and still kicking. Love him... always been a big fan.
Tom, dear... Shavuos isn't in winter. It's around May or so. St. Louis would be ok.
Ths first Jewish female comedian!
Great humor! Still fresh and humorous today!
Over the land of the… FR[FNaF Jumpscare]!
❤️🙏🏻❤️
This is the only song where Tom plays the piano the rest of his songs are accompanied by a kosher band
You know that for years Shavuot wasn't celebrated until scholar Zionist kibbutz revived it in Palestine
You have NO IDEA how much this song is an earworm. I'm not even Jewish, and I've had this damned ditty running through my mind for the PAST FOUR WEEKS! Somebody make it STOP! Or not. It's just WONDERFUL.
Do you have squirrels in Long Beach? If so, do I have a song for you!
A Harvard professor singing a Jewish song.! We’ve fallen a long way since then
He, Lehrer, would not be in favor of the murder of Palistinians in this crime under Neten the yahoo. Jews in general are against this war criminal and the USA's selling them weapons to commit this Murder If that is what you intended to suggest.
@@mattklein5498 can you be a miserable sack of shit somewhere else? Thanks.
without Tom Lehrer i would never have memorized the elemental table ruclips.net/video/AcS3NOQnsQM/видео.htmlsi=RK12YM0P3Svgmgdo
This is fabulous!!!!!
www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=tom+lehrer -- He still alive and at Harvard.
Such fun! Thanks from cold miserable London!
Tom Lehrer is a certifiable genius!-Love this song!
She was HIGH-LARRY-US. I love her rapid pace of delivery. "But to my kid I wouldn't say 'no'' cause she hits."LOL
0:06 starts
Now she is hilarious!
Great material, timings a little off. But she was great.
I was looking at some marketing material from the Goldman's Hotel in the NJ from the 1950s. The material mentioned Jean Carroll (Celine Zeigman). Wow! She is terrific. Amazing. The press has made it seem that Joan Rivers broke new ground. Jean Carroll broke the mold.
Rachel B ( Ms. Maisel) said she originally watched everything by Jean Carroll she could find on the web.. I'm such a huge MMM fan... so here I am ~ amazed by the real deal.
Me too. SO amazed! I'm old enough to have seen her on the Ed Sullivan shows in their first airings, but I was so young at the time I don't quite remember her. I'm hoping that the films of the old Sullivan shows featuring her will be available on channels like MeTV soon - if they're not already.
Her stand up comedy is alot like Wendy Leiberman. I think this is where Wendy. got her comedy style from.
It's great, but the pics of St. Louis for East St. Louis (a very different place) grates.
Happy Hanukkah!
Never heard this before
I've been playing this on ukulele for years, but I know I haven't been singing the melody correctly ... so I came here to hear the original. I'm going to do a new version today. Happy Hanukkah!
Post it!
@@Sam-vv6ru I did ... it's on my channel.

And thank you, Ananlog36. What a great job you did and I know it took some effort and time. L'Chaim! Now go burn your menorah at both ends.
"Here's to Judas Maccabeus, oh if he could only see us!" Let's be real, he'd probably strike us all down as Hellenizers with his big hammer.
Oh I think Tom is well aware. Always plenty of irony in his songs.
This comment wins the educated internet user of the year award. I loved this! Never mess with a guy named Judah the Hammer.
Snappier than Joan Rivers - ahead of her time
They need a movie, not documentary, about her and about Moms Mabley
Jean Carroll’s birth name was Celine Zeigman. She was one of many Jewish comedians who started in vaudeville. Arguably, Carroll and “Moms” Mabley were the first women standups who broke through in the 1950s. Due to segregation, Mabley succeeded first on the Chitlin’ Circuit, then attained wider success as white audiences started to see her in the 60s.
She's silly
Sam kennison would have been better
Leave it to Tom Lehrer to find a rhyme for "Judas Maccabeus!"
She should not be allowed to live in this country
So savage. Love how to stuck it out and even went all in to piss people off more. Amazing. 👍🤘🤘🤘
Where would he spend Lag B'omer?
Bonaire?
Oklahomer!
Here’s The Worse Limerick You Ever Read Chanukah in warm Santa Monica Out of NY cold would be a nice tonic-a. Drinking grape Manischevitz As under the hot sun we shivtz While someone plays “Dreidel" on their rusty harmonica.
Happy Hanukkah everyone!!
We at the Rochester Jewish Chorale have sung this song many times when we were singing before the pandemic. It is always a favorite.
Rochester, NY..? Ex Buffalo area boy here & BIG TL fan . We had An Evening Wasted.. on vinyl mid 70's but just heard a choral version of this latter day gem on WCLV ( Cleveland Classical ) today:)! Gotta brush up his other Xmas #..
I saw a Jewish men's choir perform this a couple of years ago, and it was AMAZING. I cried laughing. It was tough to compose myself to sing after them! You're right, truly a hit!
Tom Lehrer Never dates .. I absolutely adore him. And this is Ten years on from the last comment... 3 months ago I had never heard of him
"Honey wake up it's your wife" "Quick hide me!" LMAO
Her pacing is amazing! Still funny
