I am a mixed media artist who loves to share my process-- I try to make art that makes people feel connected and seen. I enjoy creating videos that are helpful, relaxing and inspiring. Through my art I aim to convey messages or a feeling that uplifts and inspires others to be the best version of themselves. We can all be each other's cheerleader--I'm rooting for you!
I always thought being an artist was for other people. As a kid I was always happily surrounded by coloring books, scrap paper, glue and markers--it was instinctual for me to create dioramas, collages and art work by the droves!
It was only after many years (and careers) of trying to fit my round self into a square hole that I realized being an artist wasn't just for others, it was for ME too.
It all started with some adult painting classes--abstract art burst my heart wide open; it brought me back to my artistic self and I haven't looked back since.
Come take a peek + see what calls to you.

Gel Plate Tutorial
Follow along as I create some botanical themed gelli prints. They are so much fun to make for collage papers to use in your art work, or create unique monoprints to frame. If you are new to gel printing, this video will show you a few tricks I use to create prints I love and use.

Follow along as I create my latest piece of mixed media art, "Forever" part 2. I am using collage papers, acrylic paint, my gelli plate, stencils and pens. I love the challenge of using different supplies than I usually do, this time I am trying out clear gesso and printing directly from my gelli plate onto my mounted collage papers. If you are a beginner to mixed media, I hope you find some ti...

Très beaux 🤩
WHERE’S THE “Roxanne”?!
I know! Sorry 🤣
@@stephaniemartel It’s okay!! 🥺
Finishing the video before he said Roxanne was criminal
Sorry about that! 🤣
Love both pulls!
Thanks for watching! 😁
It Is SOOO Beautiful! Congrats! :D
Thanks for watching!
This looks so awesome 👏
Thanks so much!
nice color combination!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching. 😄
These are great, they've got many uses!id put one in my journal!
Yes, Cheryl! And they are a lot of fun to make. 😃
What would you use a tag like this for? Would you keep it for yourself or use as a card?
I give mine away all the time. otherwise I would be buried in all the things I have made. 😸
@@danamatsukawa4762 Good point! 🤣
#inspired
Thanks for watching, Kim!
SP!
Classic!
Hi Stephanie, I'm a small channel creator looking for other RUclips artists who are interested in forming a mastermind. Our purpose would be to grow our channels. If this is something that would interest you, please let me know. And no, I'm not trying to sell you something, just looking for a few people to meet with and that's all.
I love it! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Could you spray some kind of sealer on the ink jet print before applying it to keep it from running?
It's a good idea but I don't want to mess up my printer head. There is a new fixatif that I am going to try after I print to see if it prevents smudging.
p e r f e c t . . .
Thanks for watching 😁
Do you use a fixative at the end?
When I am ready to frame/sell it, I add a fixation and varnish coat. I scan my work first so I wait until after that to add any top coats. 😁
What kind of printer do you run through with the deli paper?
It's just a regular office printer: hp 5255 deskjet.
Thank you ! I’m new to this process but I love it!
So happy you are here! Just have fun with it. 😁
Underrated and amazing
Thank you for watching!
Great video! One of my favorite things I got from this video was your comment about not getting to precious with it as I do find that to sometimes be a problem. I look forward to more of your videos.
It's so easy to get uptight about certain areas! Just have fun with it and see what happens. 😁
Nice ❤
😊
Beautiful colors! Love the song too!
Thank you!
Mixed media with gel plate so much fun ❤
It really is!
Actually both. But I'd I must pick one I guess 2.
😁
You inspired me. I am learning something at each of your video. Thank you, Please forgive my writhing i am french.
Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad you're here. 😁
I was wondering, does that stamp backing come with the stamp, or is it like a separate…plaque? I noticed in another video you placed a stamp onto another backing as well. I find it extremely tedious trying to place stamps on with just the fingers, been wondering if there’s some sort of mount/holder that can be used to make it more ergonomic
Yes! It's actually called a stamp mount. 😁 Works great for those flat sheets of stamps you get--just pop it on a mount and it gives you more leverage when stamping.
@@stephaniemartel oh haha I’ve had trouble finding one but I think “stamp mount” is actually the only title I didn’t try lol thank you!
Beautiful and it looks really fun to do. What type of paper did you use to begin with?
It is really fun! I use a 200 lb watercolor paper.
This looks so cool.
Thanks for being here!
So Pretty!
Thank you for watching Dana 😊
So pretty! 💚 do you gesso your paper before laying done collage papers?
Thank you! No, I don't gesso the paper but I do use a 200 lb paper when I know I'm doing a lot of layering.
Loved this. So many good ideas.
Thanks so much Kim! What was your favorite?
Have you used any new products lately that you love? Share them below!
Hi Stephanie: Thanks for the great tutorials, I always learn so much and enjoy them. I recently purchased water based cold wax "powerwax" by Powertex and I love it. I mixed my acrylic paint with it and I absolutely love the finish. I would love to see what you do with it!
While it's not a new product, I have recently been diving back into using my gel plate to create collage papers. In the past, I've been frustrated with this tool, but I've been inspired by a few RUclips creators that pushed the ways to use it. I enjoy being challenged.
@@creativesouljourneys And those new ideas may be just what you need to create the way you like to with the gelli plate. 😁
What paper are you using?
The printed papers are ones I made on my gelli plate. You can buy some digital downloads of them from my shopify store. 😁
@@stephaniemartel thank you 🙏 i really wanna learn this! is the paper copy paper or cardstock? it looks thin.
@@stephaniemartelit also looks like washi tape
Hi they both are good but 2 is better. What paint do you use
Hi! I use mostly liquitex basics but I have a few colors in the Amsterdam brand too.
Neat! Also, great music choice! 😊
Thanks! 😄
So pretty😍
Thank you for being here ❤️
YES! Great idea ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching! 😁
Great video and project idea. I like the way you explain things. I am inspired to make washi tape now. Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching, I'm glad you were inspired!
Excellent thank you 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I really enjoyed this video Stephanie thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks so much for watching. 😁
Cute!
Thanks for watching!
❤❤❤👍👍👍
😁🥰
I am loving your videos! I'm curious about how you would frame these pieces?
Good question! I would probably mount the original on a hard board but for prints I would create a border so it would frame nicely. 😁
What fun that was. Really like how it all came together.
Thanks for watching Debbie!
Cute idea.
Thanks Dana 😁
What's your favorite way to store your fodder/ephemera? Tell me in the comments 👇
Love this idea!!! I was wondering if you happen to know the three colours used for the outside cover. Absolutely love that combo. Thanks for the inspiration. x
Hi Lynne! The colors I used are light pink, medium magenta and light gold. I may have made the magenta a little lighter with titanium white, but not by much.
@@stephaniemartel Stephanie, thank you so much!! x
Whats fodder please
Basically anything that can be used in the creation of a collage. I draw flowers and cut them out--they are my fodder. :-)
What kind of paper is that 😊
It is a blank watercolor greeting card. These are the ones I use (link is to my amazon store) amzn.to/4bHp9HR
Videos like yours make me remember the point of it: enjoying the process!. Thank you, I love your spreads. Greetings from Mexico!
Hi! Thanks so much for watching, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
