Christopher Eccleston Doctor Who news - BBC Radio 5 Live - 12am, March 20 2004
Anticipating from all the rumour and speculation that the BBC was about to officially announce the new Doctor, at midnight on Saturday March 20 2004 I recorded the BBC Radio 5 Live news bulletin, via glorious medium wave, onto a cassette tape, and did indeed get the announcement as their "...and finally."
I then also recorded a short discussion presenter Brian Hayes had with his studio guests about the news.

Memories of Clapham & Patching CE Primary School, recorded at an event held on Sunday July 2nd 2023 to mark the 150th anniversary of the current school building. The recordings were originally made for a short item about the event for the BBC Radio Sussex breakfast show the following morning. But there were so many nice memories shared that I decided to put together this much longer version as ...
An International View of Doctor Who

For Doctor Who's 60th anniversary in November 2023, I made a piece speaking to some international fans of the show, for BBC radio. You can find that here: soundcloud.com/paul-hayes-882952482/doctor-who-international-fans-package-for-60th-anniversary-nov-2023 They all had so many interesting things to say that I wanted to use more than the tiny clips I was able to use for the piece, and so I dec...

BBC Radio Norfolk Treasure Quest: 2008 - 2023

Obviously it was a radio show, so any videos taken were very ad hoc, meaning this was assembled from various odds and sods from across the years. Celebrating BBC Radio Norfolk's Treasure Quest programme, which was broadcast on Sundays from May 2008 (there'd been a pilot in the March) to September 2023. Thank you so much to everybody who was a part of it, and apologies to all those who couldn't ...
Unofficial BBC Radio Norfolk 40th birthday video (2020)

Not an official BBC video - just a little bit of fun made in my own time to hopefully amuse current and former colleagues, for the occasion of BBC Radio Norfolk's 40th birthday on the 11th of September 2020. Many thanks to all of those who took the original photos and footage, and apologies to anybody who would have liked to have featured but doesn't. I tried to include as many people as I could!

You should absolutely, definitely never send messages to presenters of live TV programmes you're not even working on. Particularly if you don't even work in TV, but you're a radio producer. To do so, even during a package, is extremely unprofessional and would surely only happen in the direst of circumstances...
St Catherine's Close - 1959 and 2017

A little video to tie-in with my documentary "The Network That Never Was" on BBC Radio Norfolk on Bank Holiday Monday, 28th August 2017, at 12 midday. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05bxjl6 St Catherine's Close on All Saints Green in Norwich was the home of the BBC's East Anglian radio service from 1956 until 1980. It's seen here in 1959 and in 2017, now the home of a firm of solicitors. The soundtr...

A personal behind-the-scenes keepsake of Treasure Quest Live 2014. It obviously concentrates on the parts of the show where I wasn't having to do anything with the AV production-wise. Not affiliated in any way with the BBC or with Children in Need.

BBC Radio Kent's Phil Harrison has a surprise message for Sophie during TQ Live 2015's evening show Q&A, resulting in an unplanned resolution for David's earlier "Emergency Joke" envelope, a MacGuffin he pinned to the side of the stage at the start of the show.

Well that was just a delightful affirmation that one of my all time favourite programs transcends all of time and space. To have survived 60 years is no mean feat in todays television age. Thank you for this Paul, it's nice to know you are championing this fine show so well. And as part of those 60 year anniversary celebrations, let us raise a glass to Verity, Sidney and William ... without whom, none of this would have been possible.

Oh, that's rather classy. I'm still reading "Pull to Open" but it's a darn fine read.

Nice clips! And thanks to the whole Treasure Quest team, it's been fun, entertaining and educational. Just what the BBC should be... serving the local community. Shame on management for their ludicrous disassembling of local radio across the whole country.

Top man Paul. Criminal how it was cut down in its prime. Here’s to pastures new!

For all your efforts over the years, for building an "on air" family that we listeners have loved and will miss. From Big Band Anna and her giggles, To Sophie's motorbiking travels and then becoming a Mum, To David (the First) THE DON, and David (the second) did he EVER learn to read a map? For Julie always being a ray of sunshine (whatever the weather), And Gold Shoes Sam (have you seen them?) For each and every one of The Glams - too numerous to mention For bringing Becky to her hearts, though you knew how to get the best from her! Let's not forget Navigator Ian, though Wally rivalled his road knowledge All of this would not have been possible without The Questmaster - I salute you Sir! Thank YOU!

@@paulhayes5724 Haha! You're kidding! That's amazing. Well, not naughty on your part really, more on her. If it's anything like studios I've worked on before, presenters aren't allowed phones haha. Well done though!

@@MoviesWithMarty Oh I didn't message her on the phone, I'm not that bad and she's not that unprofessional! I did it through the old ENPS system we used to use then for our scripts and running orders! (They had monitors for this set into the desk in front of them)

@@paulhayes5724 Ohh! I didn't think about that haha. I did think it was a bit too unprofessional, but I'm glad it wasn't through phone haha. I had no idea the system used was called the ENPS. That's great to know! The only thing I knew about the set's layout was yes, that there were monitors or screens of some kind set into the table. I've seen laptops being used once or twice and presume maybe that's down to when the screens are down, but not sure. Thanks for the info!
