IHi have a vy L67 with mace memcal too using it daily for 2yrs now 0 issues (used your guide to install it) but I still have standard throttle body, I think you should check your firing order take note of what lead goes to what plug my firing order is 632541 also remove the heads off and have a look at the tops of pistons then see if it rotates freely once valves/plugs are off the menu
