    Make a reservation at the state park at Edisto Beach SC. on the ocean not a tourist trap. You will like this place small area compared to cray myrtle beach.

    If you come to Az to any of the state parks the reservations open up 1 year in advance. Also, there are several Maricopa County parks that are beautiful, back to nature type campgrounds that open reservations 6 months in advance. We have seen your size at many campgrounds we have been to but it is really difficult to get those reservations in the winter and spring. It will take a tremendous amount of planning. We would love to see a tour of some of these places you camp at along your travels. Enjoy your trip and safe travels!

    We downsized from a 40’ to a class B. Sold it in a year and back in a Reatta XL. Missed having room, things we enjoy and the washer and dryer. Yes it may take more planning but sure certain times of the year you will be able to go with the flow. Enjoying your journey!

      @RoamSweetRoamRV Месяц назад

      We are using a mailbox service out of Montana. So our address is in Montana. They get my mail, open it and scan it to me. If there is anything that I need sent to me, they will ship it to me at the campground we are currently at at the time.

    Congrats on the next chapter of your life! We retired 5 yrs ago, sold everything and went FT too. It was the best decision we ever made. BTW, I lived in Waynesville, NC in the 90's and love to return to the Smokies every few years. We are on a limited retiree budget, so bought a low mileage 1999 National Tropical and pressed into service the car we already owned, an 06 Chevy Cobalt SS as our toad. So far, our older coach has held up well and hasn't seen the inside of the shop since we began our FT adventure, 5 yrs ago. Our car has seen some repairs, but it started our journey with almost 400,000 miles on the odometer, so it was expected. Nevertheless, it's still a lot cheaper to keep it running than to buy a new one. Besides, it feels great being debt free. It will take you at least a year to get accustomed to this lifestyle and to decide how you want to live it, which is different for everyone. The first year we traveled like we were on vacation, moving too much to fully enjoy the places we visited. We've settled down more now, usually wintering over in one place while the rest of the year we like to travel the country. We typically go from coast to coast in a year, but travel at a much slower pace now, taking time to smell life's roses. We discovered that we love boondocking, living virtually for free, in some of the most beautiful wilderness areas imaginable. We boondocked for 10 months straight last year, across 11 states, having the time of our lives and stretching our budget at the same time. By doing so we have money to spend on other things we like to do, like sightseeing, visiting National Parks and eating out, while still maintaining a much-needed cash reserve. Be sure and get your America the Beautiful pass for free NP entry and 1/2 price camping in NPs, government campgrounds, Army COE parks, etc. It's worth its weight in gold. Some folks like to buy camping memberships like Thousand Trails, but the only ones we have are Escapees and FMCA, both of which I recommend - Escapees for their excellent $109/yr roadside assistance plan and FMCA for their unlimited WiFi plans (plus many other benefits as well.) We quickly learned the advantages of solar so built a large solar/battery system in 2 phases, a 12v system for our basic 12v DC needs and a 48v system for our 120v AC needs. Now we have no need to plug into a power pedestal at an RV park as we can power everything in our coach, including our A/C and heat 24/7 off of the sun. This gives us lots of options. We travel around the country a lot, visiting National Parks, and doing the tourist thing, mostly boondocking out west. We spent last winter in Yuma, AZ, but we're visiting our son in Gastonia, NC now where boondocking places are pretty rare. We found an RV park that is letting us camp in a spacious site without hook-ups for only $100/mo., saving us $500/mo. off their FHU rates, while still enjoying the benefits of staying in an RV park. Enjoy your journey. We look forward to following you on your travels. If you need any advice, just reach out to us at Sushidog@earthlink.net . We're happy to share what we've learned. We look forward to seeing you on the road one day!
