Turn it completely OFF. Disconnect the Power Charging Adapter. Open its back/bottom cover. Disconnect the battery. Disconnect or un-insert the CMOS cell. Wait for 45 minutes. And then Connect or insert the CMOS cell. Connect the battery. Try to turn it ON. If it will turn ON or start as normal then turn it OFF and then close its back/bottom cover. If it will not turn ON as normal then connect the Power Charging Adapter and try to turn it ON again. These trouble-shooting steps will turn the laptop ON as normal.

I ended up successfully updating my BIOS without a battery by extracting the BIOS Utility and running through PowerShell WINUPTP64.exe with "WINUPTP64.exe -sp" to which skips the power check. The video is using a 2 year old version of the BIOS Update Utility, it allows you to download without having a battery installed, but the most recent one will impose that you must have a battery and that it is charged in order to continue. @ubaidq34 do you know what we can do?

Revz Silva did not say anything about without a battery. He updated the BIOS successfully in less steps than me because the X1 Carbon is a different sub-series.

There is nothing about extra slot for the battery. You can use both batteries of 3 & 4 cells on these models. When using a 3 Cell Battery, you can use the M.2 Storage Drive & 2.5-inch SATA 3.0 Storage Drive. It means that you can use either one at a time or you can use both Storage Drives simultaneously. But when using a 4 Cell Battery, you can only use the M.2 Storage Drive. The 4 Cell Battery occupies the space for 2.5-inch SATA 3.0 Storage Drive.

@@ubaidq34 not sure which sata it is. Basically unable to install windows. Automatically crash ho gaya. And fir chalu hi nhi hua. Somehow I was able to access the files using ubuntu bootable pendrive. Then I formatted the disk..tried installing ubuntu. But it didn't start. Then I found the following. 1. It was installed in optane memory as it treated optane as ssd 2. I changed sata configuration to AHCI 3. Disabled secure boot 4. Rebooted with the bootable pendrive 5. Formatted the hdd and optane both 6. Created nanual partition by watching RUclips video 7. Ubuntu installation successful 8. But I'm still unable to use it. Like I'm encountering the same issue, that is -> black screen after booting up, I was getting the same issue with windows, so I thought might be windows is corrupt, so I tried reinstalling windows but it crashed multiple times, so decided to install ubuntu
