Strut Spacers on a Drift Car, Made Out Of Garbage. (Mazda Miata)

What did u weld it with? I’m planning also to do the same but also I will try to put reinforcement plates on it…hoping that my stick welds will last i don’t know anyone in my region to be good with welding so I got to do this by myself
One thing that could have helped was wet sanding after the primer with 800 grit. Also wet sanding the clear coat if it’s thick enough. Also companies offer color matching paint in spray cans as well as high quality clear coat
@@john.Leedom that probably would have been a good idea. I am considering wet sanding the clear
@@john.Leedom I will also be stepping up my paint game next time I do a large piece like this whether it's custom spray paint or getting a spray gun and stuff from a paint store. The custom spray paint is definitely something great to keep in mind. I've heard of it, but I definitely forgot about it.
Can’t wait to drive with ya next season! 🤟🏻
@@Zeusmx5 likewise, looking forward to seeing your Miata back on the track! 🤙
Do you know how to make the original handbrake work well???
Good question. I didn't bother to make mine work well, but good shoes and cables would be a great start. Also having the inside of the rear rotors new or resurfaced would likely help as well.
Supplier please 🙏🏼
@@tiesthatbind5056 what do you mean?
Fuck yeah, martyr a.d.!🤘🏼
Did you have to remove the engine mount to get the stock headers out?
I did not. It was actually more in the way of the new ones, but I still managed to do all of this without removing it.
@@skidroseracing priiiiime. Thanks dude, everyone elses video says you have to remove the mount to get them out so I’m definitely going to attempt to get them out without 🤣
@joshneuenfeldt7209 I never noticed that, and my stubbornness allowed me to get it done. This comment started to make me second guess the engine mount thing, but I would have definitely remembered having to remove that mount from my engine block, and I definitely did not do that.
@@skidroseracing confirmed. Do not need to remove engine mount. They’re out
I'm glad that I could be helpful!

This may sounds random as heck.. but that stain on the table at 5:56 looks like a pterodactyl... perfectly
@@josefnoel9634 Good eye! It is a pterodactyl! I made the stencil for it years ago. I stumbled upon the stencil at some point last year and had to put it to use!
I had an '86 it blew a head gasket with 293k miles. I sold it "as is" for $2k in 1999
The Trooper brought me here Haha. Hey, do you have a header on the 2.6? Saw a brand new Calamini on the Planet in Classifieds. I think it sold in one minute!
@@getsducks727 That's awesome! The trooper unfortunately still has a stock manifold, and I've fought with the downpipe gasket on that a little.. It was a little jacked up when I got it, and it's now tolerable. Unfortunately I didn't film that task.
Thanks for another great video! Just bought an ebay header and probably gonna put on my m54b30 2001 330i instead of my 99 528iT cuz it's still an automatic 😂 . I'm in Portland Oregon wondering where you are sliding in this video? Thanks
@@gravybags7965 the sliding is at Affinity Circuit in the Medford area
Sounds way better. I have a series 1 racing muffler in the garage if you want to switch it up. I send some pics of the exhaust I fabbed on the ninja tomorrow!
Nice one thanks for the vid. How about doing a Timing Belt/water pump/crank seal for the next one?
I did the timing belt and water pump years ago when we first got the rig. Sadly I didn't get footage. I should probably check the belt out out though. I'll film if/when I do it again.
@@skidroseracing Getting set to do my first one here. Belt has 90000 Kms on it but it's 25 years old. Looks ok tho.
@@getsducks727 It's definitely good insurance to do a timing belt.
@@skidroseracing Did you remove the rad or just the fan and shroud? Did the Harmonic Balancer come off easy? Also, did you replace the front crank seal while you were in there? I've heard guys have had trouble removing that. Thanks for your replies eh
@@getsducks727 I can't remember if I had to remove the radiator, but I think I did. Removing the harmonic balancer was a pain, but manageable if you have the right bolts laying around for the puller. I didn't do the crank seal, but I probably should have
What’s the motor that it has?
The van has the 6.8 V10
Trying to decide between the v10 6.8l or the 6.0l. Both hard to find.
@@bplaizier1 I sure like the 6.8 so far. There's a lot less to go wrong with it than a 6.0 as well... That being said, if 6.0's seem decent if they're setup right and taken care of.
I have a ‘91 Trooper and paid $2500 for it. A month later went on a 3000 mile road trip and it was amazing. Even went to Moab and did some level 4 trails with no issues.
Ours is constantly impressing us. We've had it for about 4 and a half years!
Let’s frickin get some Miata footy brother 🖕🏼🤌🏼

Cool BASH BAR !
A clogged vent tube would make it trip slower
The vent helps compensate for pressure when the oil heats up. When the vent is clogged, the pressure has to go somewhere. I get what you're saying, but I don't think that it applies to this situation.
Curious where you got your hitch from? Looking to go to the track soon with my friend's E250 5.4 but doesn't have a hitch... Awesome video series btw!
It came with the receiver on it. It's a Ford one. It probably wouldn't be a good value to get one like mine new from Ford, so I'd shop around and check reviews. Sorry that I'm not a ton of help on this matter.
😂😂 The fact that people are still putting these short antennas on their car and then wondering why they're getting bad reception is ridiculous. Shows you how much people are paying attention their science class in high school 😅😂😂
Drifty spinners!
Bro again, impressed AF on the time + ingenuity put in. And if that's a chassis mount shifter base from a camber plate 😂 mad respect to the craft!!!

@@miketaylor3357 big facts 😂
Puff the magic dragon!
@AsherOverlandFamily
Hey man I’m only 24 but have been welding and fabbing and forging for years now. Next time, don’t but the extra weld all the way around. You want enough weld to fill your joint and that’s it, and let it cool slowly. When you welded aroundthe whole tie rod mount, you’re putting a lot of unnecessary heat into the steel and pulling lots of carbon out of it, making it weaker and more brittle! More is not always more with welding, there’s a balance of getting it hot enough and too hot for too long. I would make a new set and install them when you get the chance because that’s quite a bit of extra heat you put into that. Part of my job is stress testing new designs and heat failure, I am just trying to look out for y’all’s safety!
I appreciate that, thank you!
