[Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band Cover] Diddy Wah Diddy
I have to ask: where did you discover all the songs you've been covering? Did an uncle leave you his record collection or some such? I'm not familiar with a lot of the bands you cover. This sounded really great, btw!
Around half a year ago, I discovered a 20-part, 20-song compilation album series of obscure 1960/70's singles called "Piccadilly Sunshine" most songs I cover and post on this channel are from that series. This particular song is not from these albums, but is from the same single on one (David Mackenzie). I highly recommend you (and everybody else) should listen to the wonderful songs on Piccadilly Sunshine. Thank you for asking!!!
One of my favorites
You're the first RUclipsr I've discovered that's doing anything like this, and it puzzles me as to why your subscriber count is so low. Maybe young people don't like this stuff, or the "lo-fi" aesthetic or something. But I think it's brilliant, and you probably have a better understanding of the songs you cover than almost anyone. Would you consider making videos of you recording these covers? Maybe people need something moving around on their screens to keep their attention, nowadays.
@@puckhockey4733 Thanks, I have been considering filming myself from time to time, I’ll try and see how it works out.
Fabulous! B side of their version of Ohio Express’s “Yes Sir” on Penny Farthing label, around 1970

The American Breed - Step out of mind.
In the sixties, the Kinks stood for the rough sound. We did like them! The riffs, the drive, and after all the harmonies ('See my friend'). Later they are just going commercialised - played in the supermarket
I think that this is a good album.
Great observation
@@MickBokulich-gg1ro Thank You! Simple but so true!
Be careful around the Village Green.
The GOAT of the garage band sound.
The GOAT of lyrical music that makes you think.
God save the Kinks!❤
I had not heard the Kinks on the radio since Autumn Almanac (only once) so thought they had broken up when I happened upon Village Green. Soon after I discovered, for the first time, both Something Else and Face to Face in bargain bins. I played Face to Face (my all-time favorite) and Something else a few hundred times together as if they were both part of a double album. Even now, I sometimes have to check to see which of those two albums, a particular song is actually on. I believe they were at their best during that period when they were stupidly ignored by American radio.
Something Else is my personal favorite but they’re all phenomenal
Ape man
IMHO, Face to Face, Something Else, Village Green and Arthur are the greatest Kinks albums.
Hello Bring It Down Here........WOWIE Radio Free...USA
Super...❤
Tiny bit couldn't sing and was a weird dude why did he get a record deal mane I could have did better and I can't sing either selling your soul and money get you fame people 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@jimmyfields3654 Dude, it’s a cover, I’m singing it and doing all the instruments. And I know I’m not a great singer
The Kinks were the kinkiest British Invasion band. These recordings sound raw and unrefined. More of a raunchy garage sound. In other words, they sound great.
Greatest band ever, period.
Added to Popstar playlist.
@@diocletianrecords1089 Oh, thank you!
Groovy! I did an imitation of this too as well as The Strain. 😊
I should do The Strain someday, it's "Full of scattological rock 'n roll"
I love it 😍
Nice piece of British pop. That's a whopoer of a band name. It's sort of like "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", but longer.
Look who the composer was?
One of my favourite albums - my youth!
This is the same Paul Young who later sang for Mike & the Mechanics
Sad Café too, right?
@@prunejuic Yes.
Indeed. The famous Paul was just 11 then, for comparison.
Love it.
they took over my town and a city that happens in my back yard... THANK YOU !!!....rockettebob in reno
Nicky Hopkins on Harpsichord
While the musicianship is not blisteringly precise (it doesn't need to be), and while the recording quality is decidedly lo-fi, so far as I can tell, all the parts of the songs are present. Frank would probably get a kick out of this. Excellent work, thanks for going to all this effort.
🤓cool-ass alt version 🤓
This is not the version released on Absolutely Free.
Yeah. I noticed that the line "Take the day and walk around and watch the Nazis run your town," was amended to "plastics" instead of Nazis.
@@haroldkrishna4116 Frank was talking about Christofacism coming 45 years ago
@@brucewhyte1808 He as truly a visionary! I can only imagine what his thoughts would be if he could see the level of Christofascism in this country today.
@brucewhyte1808 Yes, this is a cover, I'm doing all the instruments and doing the vocals
@haroldkrishna4116 I thought it would make more sense to sing the word "plastics" instead because he said it in the earlier versions
The Joe 90 Theme is great! I have it on CD. This was one of the best shows they ever came up with. I was raised on serious doses of "Super Car".
I really love what you do, covering these obscure songs and doing all the parts. You've introduced me to a lot of cool songs I didn't even know existed! It keeps me coming back!
Very upbeat. I like this. Too bad it’s a rare release.
lol
They get a Like for the name. NOT for their harmonies.
Hi hats
What you do brings me joy. Thank you for your beautiful covers. I’m a huge Zappa/Beefheart fan. I also have covers of the Mothers of my own.
Thank you so much! I’ll definitely check out your stuff
Ahhh! The “Good old Days!” Indeed. So inspiring and innocent. Love it! ❤
After all these years, I find these guys that flat out win the band name contest. And they did it in 1968!❤
What name for a band and I thought my band had the weirdest name ever Mothers Own Electrifie Fuzz Band.
It all depends if you can say it in one breath
A true gem
Thank you!
Pooooyeeaaarrgh!
frank zappa was the greastest
Terrible music. Crummy.
You’re right, when I first heard the original track (Off of “Piccadilly Sunshine Part 7”) I thought the same. BUT, it grew on me because of its slightly comedic nature, eventually leading to me covering it. If you don’t like it, check out my other stuff or listen to the original song. Tell me, what about it do you think it’s crummy and terrible?
How the fuck is this even a cover. I mean I haven't listened to this particular song nearly as much as i should from love you but your voice is unmistakably perfect lmao i would 100% believe this was the original if someone showed it to me
Also the backing vocals are perfect
I keep thinking Stephen Hawking is in on this! Anyhow, do you take requests? Because I think "Electric Aunt Jemima" might be right up your alley.
Wow, I just watched a documentary about this album! It's Brian Wilson's favorite (written and performed almost entirely by him, so I guess that makes sense). Cool cover!
Was it the Elliot Roberts video about the album you watched?
@@prunejuic Yep that's the one!
Great job on the vocals! Impressive!
Lyrics for those who like Frank's lyrics: Look at all the Germans. La la la la la la Watch them follow orders. La la la la la la See them think they're doing something groovy in the street. See the student leader. La la la la la la He's a rebel prophet. La la la la la la He's fXcked up, he's still a Nazi like his mom and dad. Played for a night in Berlin. That afternoon we set up our sh1t and rehearsed. Half a dozen phony student rebels in the hall, came to see if I could find a way to help them all. "What is your desire?" La la la la la la "Help us start a fire." La la la la la la In the Allied center, 'round the corner, down the street. And then, we began to play. A bunch of punks arose from the crowd. Student rebels, their flags of red, began to chant "Ho Chi Minh" "Ho Ho Ho Chi Minh" Threw tomatoes! And the next thing we knew, we were under seige.
This sounds great! I've never heard the original, so this is original to me. Sounds like a song from '68 even though you just made it recently, which is a *good* thing :)
