My friend, Bob, has just gotten back into flying RC helicopters after taken a decade or more break from them. He is jumping back into them with both feet and is having a lot of fun. In this video he is doing his maiden flight on his Blade 330 S RC helicopter.
Does the wind through the canopy present any problems to the camera stability?
None at all. I have this setup on two planes now and have no issues. Thanks for the question. 😁
Nice video. Im putting together my 1st FPV plane right now. Bought the same FC, Air unit, and GPS. Still need a gimbal and headtracker, would you recommend this? FMS 1400 P51 on a Helloradiosky V16 transmitter. Thanks.
Thanks! I highly recommend the Motionsic BAG gimble and Tally-Ho head tracker from fpvdogfight.com The rest of your setup should do great! Thanks for watching!!!

Thanks! ☺️
@salisburyrc You're welcome bro😁
Which Align model canopy are you using on it?
I asked Bob, who owns this heli, and this was his response. “Trex 600E Pro canopy bought from a private for sale ad on RCgroups. It required drilling new mounting holes.” Thanks for watching and commenting!
Fpv Pilot! Darn that looks fun!
Hey Richard! You know it was. 😁. I was having issues with the retracts on this flight. I’m glad my spotters were keeping an eye on them for me. I believe I ran the juice too low on the battery.
Nice flying a bit agressieve on turns , is your gimbal set up to 3 rolls axis? Also what transmitter are you using?
@@autorings3443 Thanks! Aggressive on my turns? Exactly… 😆 The Carbon Z T-28 Trojan 2.0m is a blast to fly FPV and is very capable. If you’re interested, some of my earlier videos on it I’m even more aggressive. The pan and tilt gimbal is a Motionsic BAG. It is only two axis. My transmitter is a Spektrum iX14 with a Spektrum 4651T receiver on top of a Speedybee F405 Wing flight controller that runs INAV. I have links for everything I use in my description. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
@ I meant that not smooth on aileron stick, thank you for all the videos, I did watch them and learned a lot, I have similar setup on my 1.4M T-28 with frsky transmitter.
@@autorings3443 Gotcha. Yes, I was being overly aggressive and not very smooth. Thank you for your kind words. 😊 Are you using the Frsky dual band receivers? If so, what kind of range are you getting with them? I've been debating getting the Frsky X20S for the dual band receivers to get that extra range.

I agree. It is a bit too low. I've been meaning to raise it up a bit since last April when I first did it's maiden, but haven't had a chance yet. I do have other plans for this plane shortly. Stick around so you can see. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@salisburyrc the trojan is one of my favourite rc plane i will wait in patient :-)
Good fun! Not easy with canopy glare and canopy frame blocking the view.
Thanks! This is very true. Also, even though I think the DJI Goggles V2 are great what I see is not as crisp as what we see in the video. 🤣

It is a bit of a challenge to see clearly through the center canopy when flying towards the sun since I didn't cut it out. I would lose the other T-28 Trojan in my FPV view when it would cross over as it is white and small. We obviously need more practice and to keep steady speed and altitude in the pattern. Hi. Great flight. I love the piper cubs. The cub does'nt have flaps so how do you slow it down for landing? Would it be beneficial to use the 2 airlerons as spoilers! As in both airlerons go up on landing and use elevator compensation. Would that help slow it down for landing? I thinking of purchasing a cub so any information would be a great help Thanks
Thanks! I love the Piper Cub too! I haven’t had any issues with slowing it down for landing without flaps. It does come in a little hotter than something with flaps, but it’s a scale model and doesn’t hardly weigh much. It comes to a stop pretty quickly once it’s on the ground. Spoilers may be helpful. I know others like to experiment with them. I just never felt the need. Get a Cub! They are great flyers! Thanks for watching. 😃

Not bad, but you have still a long way to go. Which drone are you flying?
Thanks for the comment. This is a DJI FPV drone. I'm not an active "FPV Drone Pilot" that is doing tricks and stuff. At least I would never try it with the DJI FPV. Its too fragile. My niche is FPV in Scale RC Airplanes with head tracking. So, I agree 100%. I have a long way to go with FPV drones. Please come check out my channel and see my other FPV stuff. Thanks for watching!!! 😃

Hey everyone! I added the engine sound to this little RC plane to give this video some presence. Its a nice change since there is no audio recorded from the DJI 03 Air Unit. I usually add music to give the flight video something in the background. Thanks for watching and please don't forget to subscribe!
Would be fun without annoying music
@@michelmasks I appreciate your comment and your watching. I have other videos where there is other styles of music and also no music. There is no audio recording capability with the DJI camera setup so it is silence. The music is to give it something to go against so people like me with bad tinnitus don’t have to listen to the ringing in our ears. 😉
Cool, welcome to the club!
@@MattFlyingFPV Thanks! Your videos are why I want an FPV WWI Warbird now. 🤣
Hello and thanks for sharing this very helpful video! I saw that you set the flap-elevator mix on the radio, which was my original intention too. But wouldn't there be a conflict if you use this mix in angle and acro modes on iNav? I thought this mix was only for Manual mode.
@@emiliyanmartinov Not at all! I fly only in manual mode, but when I have a stiff crosswind I will flip it into Acro for that extra stabilization. Thank you so much for checking out my other videos!
@@salisburyrc You are very welcome! I have one more question - if you assign the throttle cut switch on the radio to be an arm switch at the same time (Thr cut off), when you turn on the throttle cut, doesn't that also cause FC to engage the failsafe? Thanks!
@@emiliyanmartinov I’m not sure I’m following why you would worry about the failsafe when the plane is on the ground. The throttle cut operates the same way as the throttle cut does without a flight controller. The difference here is you have a GPS connected to the flight controller and you need a minimum number of satellites to be picked up before the flight controller will allow the motor to be armed once your flip the Throttle Cut off. Also, with the DJI 03 Air Unit it won’t go into full power mode until it gets the armed signal. Does this help or answer your question?
@@salisburyrc I was worried because when the Rx loses signal, it similarly sends a signal to the flight controller, a signal identical to that of a throttle cut, I think, and activates the failsafe. What worries me is if after landing, I turn the throttle cut on, will it activate the failsafe on FC? I'm not sure, I could be wrong. I'm still awaiting the delivery of my plane. I haven't started my first build yet, so I asked.
@@emiliyanmartinov I’m following you now. One has nothing to do with the other. Throttle cut ,and even Arming, only has to do with signal to the motor. The receiver still maintains full connection with the transmitter at all times. There is no failsafe. I would start looking at your receiver placement in the plane if your receiver is losing connection and causing failsafe. 😉
Hello and thanks for sharing! Did you set the flap-elevator mix, if so where - on the radio or in the iNav? I plan to install the SB F405 wing on Super Tucano, and I'm using Spektrum system.
I set the flap-elevator mix on the transmitter. If you go to my channel, you will find that I have a tutorial series on how to setup a scale RC warbird for FPV using the Speedybee F405 flight controller. I personally use a Spektrum transmitter. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Steve good info if the plane got away from you what kind of range would it have before signal loss
Thanks! It is supposed to be able to go out about 6 miles before video signal loss. I'm just using a 2.4Ghz Spektrum receiver and a standard lipo battery. @@cletusberkeley9441 Really good flight times!
I love airplanes as much as the next guy but it's finding the right materials that's perfect for it is what is very tricky the only thing that has me steer clear away from airplanes is that normally if the engine goes off it crashes but what if it's made out of a material that can stay airborne without the engine running like for example styrofoam styrofoam is a material that can be airborne without the need of an engine same with paper & plastic
This plane is Styrofoam. Gravity still wins as it is very dense and heavy. Keep airspeed up and the plane still flies, but it is descending. Please don't let the thought of losing an RC plane to a crash stop you for this great hobby. All of our RC models have an expiration date.
@@salisburyrc RC model I almost thought this was a man driven plane
@@Hobojoes I did my job well. 😂
An important part of your field kit is a large trash bag. I've had planes last years and some that didn't last 5 seconds. Thats just part of the hobby. A crash doesn't mean the end. Fix it and fly it again. I had a couple of younger flyers that crashed almost every weekend learning how to fly. That poor plane had so much glue and patches it actually didn't have the power to get off the ground.
@@alangeddes268 what are you even going on about I'm sure you scrolled down and saw me reply to the other guy saying I thought it was a real plane if you think a trash bag will save anything go jump out of a airplane and try parachuting down to earth with a trash bag cuz clearly you and I are way off topic
