EDIT: This video is out of date and the steps described sadly do not work any more, but ODK lives on so go check it out! This video shows an open source and free way to collect forms on an Android device with advanced features and offline capabilities. If you are wondering whether ODK is right for you, this is probably one of the quickest ways to give it a try. What is the difference between us...
Installing ODK Aggregate on Google App Engine (in 15 minutes or less)
Просмотров 12 тыс.7 лет назад
EDIT: The ODK website and documentation has been update since so this is not really as useful and up to date as it once was. I believe Google App Engine support is still in place currently but it is not really the preferred method (for beginners) for installation any more: forum.opendatakit.org/t/upcoming-changes-to-aggregate/17582 I will try to post an updated video at some point with the new ...

Testing the battery life of an 808 #16 keychain cam running from an external 10,000mah battery. One picture every 30s, it ran for 56 hours, taking nearly 7000 photos. Another test with it on a 5 second timelapse lasted nearly as long (49 hours). Next steps - add a solar panel?

Wow The good old days. Cold power, clened the Raiders Jersey. No wonder, in those times, Raiders won every grandfinal match in the NRL. 😂 Those times were the best. 10 toea for the gum. Today, the price is outrageous. I wish it was still the same today? 😢
ODK doesn't allow this anymore, and it infuriates me.
Hi thanks for letting me know. I haven't used ODK in a while so I have added a note to the description of the video.

Ah,EMTV in the 90s.I remember particularly the Axion magical grease stripper ad.Fooled the little me into thinking that doing dishes can be magical.Really hated the Theodist ad song'Ring!Ring! Goes the bell, kids is time to back to school 'that comes on every time towards the end of school holidays.
Remember those days. My well-to-do friends had NQTV courtesy of the company their Dad's worked for. As for my household we watched Sesame Street at 9AM....signal went blank until 3PM when Sesame Street returned...blank until News at 6...then Bonanza at 8PM. That was the program for the day.

Hi - sorry about your error. I am not 100% sure if this approach still works with the current version of ODK. Ask in the forums: forum.getodk.org/ Good luck
I need to add offline maps to ODK collect. you can guide me?
Hi, I think this is possible however my knowledge is a bit out of date now. Try the ODK forums, they're great!

1981 , TV Adverts from Papua New Guinea (EM-TV)
Thank you for sharing this. 😊
Ah nostalgia galore! Dude do you have some more from the 70's? Thanks
Can we go back to the 70s 😥
As an Australian this is like seeing into an alternate universe at times
After the national anthem, are those Australian TV ads?
Yes, it would have come from the Queensland remote satellite service, which was available in PNG until what seems like relatively recently (I don't see it in Digicel's lists anymore, maybe it disappeared when satellite TV changed in AUS a decade or so ago; I only see the ABC Australia service now). In more modern times (since the late 1990s) that would have been Seven Central, and before that may have been Network Ten branded - but in the 1980s that was "QSTV", a relay of NQTV from Townsville/Cairns. The Sale of the Century ad actually says "QTV" which suggests the end of the tape may have been from 1990, as NQTV had been rebranded to that by then. The Nine Network part-owned them at the time (as they did EM TV, incidentally) hence taking on a version of the Nine network look.
I was looking for the Tasty Port Ad. Do you have that?
Hi Richard, sorry it was just the one tape that I have
very useful! thank you for this! A side question: what Android emulator are you using in the video? I need to get something for virtual trainings of enumerators, etc.
Hi it was a while ago but I am pretty sure it was Vysor - it was an app to display my phone on the PC - I think there is a free and paid version for more features. I suppose an emulator could work as well? Good luck with your project!
Interesting
Thanks for posting

Wow, whatever happened to our country? Anyway thanks for the nostalgia.
Many many thanks for this great tool
I’m afraid that’s a Great Tit.
Awww..this brings back childhood memories of sitting in front of the tele💜
Really a great video. if possible make a full video on using the odk app for a beginner.
Do you have more??? this brings lots of memories
Sorry, this is all I have (my parents VHS tape)
@@richardfletcher9410 Do you know anyone who may have additional tapes from Papua New Guinea?
Also, is that all from the tape? Because there's also a weather bulletin from QTV (the Nine Network affiliate for Queensland before aggregation), and maybe you captured it.
Hey Richard, did your dad work for NTN)/EMTV before?
thanks for great video
Thanks for this great video. I just had a question that I have two forms uploaded into google drive, but when I used ODK application to get the form, ODK application allows me to get only one form. Is it the restriction of that? THanks
Good question, unfortunately I've not tried it with more than 1 form at a time. I assume the forms are both valid, have you tried each one separately from the other? It would be useful for you to let the community know over at the forums forum.getodk.org/ Good luck and thanks!
Hi Richard Fletcher, great tuts, thank you so much. I have a problem on how to convert excel sheet into machine readable form, because the i can find the new domain?
Hi Mohamed thanks for bringing this to my attention, the website has been changed since so I think the new address you are looking for is : getodk.org/xlsform/ I've put it in the description of the video as well
Pls the GPS location accuracy of the odk collect is not reading ,what should I do?
Hi - it could be something to do with your device: docs.getodk.org/collect-location/ or it could be something to do with how the form has been written: xlsform.org/en/#gps-with-accuracythreshold --- there are quite a lot of posts on the form about GPS as well: forum.getodk.org/t/gps-accuracy-and-accuracythreshold-issues/12645 --- good luck!
Hi @Richard Fletcher. I've just started to use ODK Collect and I have successfully set up my google drive as my server. Thanks for the tutorial. I have 2 questions; 1. How many users can access the google drive at the the same time? 2. Will I have to add the gmail account to all their phones? I would really appreciate a timely reponse
Hi, I'm glad you're finding it useful. I can't see why multiple users would not work - although I haven't tried it myself. 1 login between multiple devices would be my first idea, or perhaps a login per device with all accounts given access/permission to the same google drive/sheet. Possibly if you were simultaneously sending responses very close together but even then if it can't send at one time, you can try again later. As noted in the video this approach is not as fast as other servers. With ODK Collect it saves each response as they are finalized locally to each device. It wont delete until it has confirmed that the data has been transferred, and you can change that option as well if you want. You can even download locally off devices with ODK Briefcase, no connection required.

Thx pro. Have a nice day 🌹
Many thanks for this amazing video, but i have a question where did bring this field submission URL? Please tell did you add it in the questionnaire or you added by yourself that would be a great help if you explain this. Please
Hi - I talk about this from about 2m50s in the video - use the "share" link from Google sheets, whatever file you want to be the destination for your results. Now you bring it up - I realized I have missed a step in the guide, to set up this file first. Basically it is just a blank spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Hope that helps
Hi Thankyou for the very helpful video. I have one concern, how can we attach data-sets and media files in this method?
Hi Kazim thank you. It does seem to be possible to use media with this method - both media as part of a question (eg images for options) and to send media as an answer (eg take a photo and send it). However if media is important to your use, I would look at setting up ODK Aggregate on Digital Ocean which is the current recommended method if you've never done it before: docs.opendatakit.org/aggregate-digital-ocean/ If you are thinking of something more complex with two way data sync then ODK X may be the more advanced version you need: docs.opendatakit.org/odk-x/ There is also the forum to ask for help: forum.opendatakit.org/
Thank you for this video,I think this ODK is great... I hope I can learn more about it quickly...
Really helpful
The free Version is so Slow, i do not recommend.
You are right. Also newer versions of Aggregate will not be supported on GAE: forum.opendatakit.org/t/upcoming-changes-to-aggregate/17582 Digital Ocean is now the 'recommended' option: docs.opendatakit.org/aggregate-digital-ocean/
How to add image next to radio button.?
Hi - this would make use of the Media function: xlsform.org/en/#media Here is a post on the ODK forums that solves a similar issue with examples: forum.opendatakit.org/t/adding-small-photo-with-each-answer/9533/10 I don't think I've tried this with Google Sheets specifically, but I can't see why it wouldn't work: when the other route for media files works. Good luck!
nice informative video. boss i have a question.is there any way around to upload existing data in database and download that data in ODK Collect App for further edit ????
Hi, I don't think ODK Collect does this, but I would look up ODK-X which is based around some similar elements but with more complex/advanced features
@@richardfletcher9410 please let me know about it. Thanks so much for your time and consideration
No me aparece Google app engine 6:57 ☹️
Hi, so sorry, this video is out of date now. Google App Engine is not the preferred platform for beginners any more - Digital Ocean appears to be the recommended option/ Good luck! : docs.opendatakit.org/aggregate-digital-ocean/
