My guess is that the ailerons were hooked-up backwards. Looks like the repairs should be straight forward. Hope to see it fly in the next video.

Many years ago, about 60, my dad bought me a model gas airplane for my birthday. It was one of those that was tethered and flew in circles around the "pilot". He and I took it out to a parking lot the following Saturday. Since neither of us had a clue how to fly it, my dad figured he should be the one to give it its maiden flight. We fired-up the motor, I held the plane in place until he had the tethering wires ready to go and then he yelled "Go!". I released the plane. He flew it straight up about 20 feet and then straight down 20 feet. So much for my birthday present. The plane never flew again, and I never had another. The only good part about it was, my father bought it, so it probably cost about $2.49. That's about what he gave me to spend on my Little League mitt.

4 nice landings, one flight!

What happened? Pilot let the aircraft get slow on short final, flow separation/tip stall. No mystery. Excellent and lucky recovery to a 'forced landing'.

Jim is a builder, not a pilot. Most builders can’t fly very well. He took off going downwind and attempted to land going downwind, probably because he’s not comfortable making right turns. Flying downwind makes the plane appear to be flying faster than it actually is, which is why it stalled.

We need him back sooo bad. This current administration is a bad dream. 🇺🇸

He stalled it. That's what happened. The same thing happened with the real ones on carrier approach and vought installed a strip of metal to alleviate it.

That “take-off” was telling us all there is more cringe moments to come…

I have flown model Corsairs and wing tip wash out makes them fly and more importantly stall much better, I don't know why it's not on everything even full scale, it makes that much of a difference

No Flaps for starters. His take off was a bit ropey and evidently down wind. Flight was not bad but Weight has a determental effect on landing speed, always best to land into the wind. Even a light breeze has a dramatic effect on landing speed

Why was he not using the landing flaps ? Perhaps 🤔 the plane did not have them, but a Corsair really does require them, otherwise the dreaded wingtip stall can easily happen.
