I completely agree that "ghost" Tony looks ridiculous. About them casting the same actor for graduating Danny, however: from memory, I believe we find out at the end of the book that "Tony" is actually an older Danny using the shining to project himself back into his own past to try and warn his younger self. So, Tony *is* Danny. Still doesn't work on the screen, mind you.
@GrumpyAndrewsHorrorHouse hey Andrew. Wow I don't remember that and I only finished the book again back in September. Must have mentally started to tune out late on. It is a long read, especially if you've read it before.
Ralph did loads of work just not as director. He was usually a production manager. He worked on some amazing movies like Taxi Driver, Death Wish and Network. I read this book as a kid and always loved King's short story novellas. Night Shift was another great one.
@@tehf00n Thanks Tehf
Thanks for doing this Terrifier 3 review/request. This is my favourite out of the 3 Terrifier movies.
@jordywoody14 I might still say number 2 but honestly not 100%
I hadn't even known that a "Trucks" to The Shining's "Maximum Overdrive" existed when I found this, that's why I grabbed it-- sheer curiosity. The length and the effects, some of the random choices made-- yeah, they suck. But I also appreciate that it follows a lot more of the story, sometimes even showing us things that characters THOUGHT about rather than truly happening-- like Danny's run in with the living firehose. Also it has a much quieter, "These are real people talking to each other" vibe that I also really enjoyed, as apposed to the original where it JUST OPENS and they're supposed to be a FAIRLY happy family just chatting on a drive but you already have Nicholson buggin' his eyes out and chewin' on his own teeth for literally zero reason while violins scream in your ear-- ALSO for no reason at that point!
Yeah some fair comments there. Thanks, Devinpaul.
Love this film. Excellent job.😊😊😊
Thanks popey
Terrifier 1 was one of the few films I was unable to watch until the end. I gave up on it about two thirds of the way through. I just found it boring. I like Slasher films, but I wasn't prepared to watch a 138min long Slasher, so I didn't bother with Terrifier 2, especially after my experience with the first one. Terrifier 3 doesn't seem much better. Director Damian Lewis seems to me a bit like Rob Zombie, somebody who clearly loves Horror, but is unable to make a great Horror film himself. I hope I'm wrong. I hope this franchise will see a general shift away from Blumhouse type Horror, but I doubt it.
@alansmith4748 fair enough mate. Totally get that
I have only seen the first one it was ok mate
@@stuartgeorge2324 I had the same thought
Worst piece of crap I have ever seen.
This is one that has eluded me for decades. I know it was screened once or twice on the BBC I think in the 1980s but nothing since and I've never seen it on a streaming network. Also I haven't seen 'Silver Bullet' (1985) and that's another that I've been trying to find. I've seen The Howling and American Werewolf in London for 1980s werewolf movies though.
I love The Howling. I still need to see Silver Bullet
Yeah i have only heard negative things about this film I haven't seen it myself, off tonight to my local IMAX cinema 📽️ to see the 40 th anniversary of nightmare on elm Street I'm sooooooo excited 😅lol
@stuartgeorge2324 that's showing at mine too. I was tempted on it but decided to book Smile 2 instead. I can only really go once each weekend.
@@themidnightwoodsman1804 where u from ? I'm going to Telford IMAX Cineworld
If only they used a Werewolf suit or Make-up instead of a harmless looking Labrador. I do like this film, it's do damn dated, so bad it's good. Speaking of Howling V, I think The Beast Must Die is better than Howling 4, 5, 6, 7. I seen this film around the early 90's, so it's Nostalgic for me. Great Review!😀
I'd take this over Howling 7. I'd take most films over Howling 7. Not 4, 5, and 6 though
Haven't watched it since a late night tv experience in the early 1980s, but I remember being disappointed with the Werewolf, instead of a 2 legged (always 2 legged Werewolf/Wolfman versions are scarier)Werewolf we got something that was a cross between a Yorkshire Terrier/Alsatian,if I remember rightly..?
Hard to tell on the breed with all the fake fur.
Back in the day this played on US tv constantly. Usually around midnight. Tried a few times to watch but it always put me to sleep.
Not shocked to hear that
Fair review. Having seen all of Amicus's films over the decades, Beyond the Grave is a watermark Amicus production. For me, this is probably the masterstroke of horror that was needed, but unfortunately, Beyond the Grave came at a point where things were in decline. Kevin O' Connor always showed remarkable dexterity when it came to filming low budget films. Particularly good are the seance scenes in the first episode where Connor conducts some inventive 360o pans with a candle that explodes between a flickering flame and a jet in the foreground. The murders in this segment are vividly staged with Connor creating some marvellously sinister images of David Warner standing about in bloodstained clothes and a wrecked apartment. You have to get rather creative and work exceptionally quickly to achieve a favourable outcome. I do miss 1970s and 80s horror. Winter nights, hot chocolate and a warm fire as you watch the carnage and mayhem unleashed on TV. Beyond the Grave was on the BBC in the late 1980s, and shown past 11pm at night. Diana Dors is rather enjoying playing the wife to Ian Bannen's terrified husband. The only failing is the weak linking story, which has to contrive to introduce antique objects that have no other purpose in the episode other than to wind in the second and third stories. O' Connor did a series of enjoyable EMI films through Amicus based on Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptations, The Land That Time Forgot, At the Earth’s Core and The People That Time Forgot and one original lost world film Warlords of Atlantis all starring Doug McClure; which really were fun watches.
@@dr.impossibleofcounterpunc1984 pretty sure I'm coming up to some of those films you mention at the end there. Thanks for taking the time as always. Great input.
Goldeneye 23rd lol
Yeah big fan of the Stanley Kubrick masterpiece 🎥 not seen this for ages the TV version I think I didn't like it but I must give it a rewatch,
You could have watched 3 old B movies from the 40/50s in the same time span of this 👍
At 260 minutes I could have watched 3 of most horror movies (an 85, an 85, and a 90).
Have you seen the popular movie Doctor Sleep? It's in the same world as The Shining and it's creepy.
@jordywoody14 yes. Saw it in the cinema. Always meant to check out the extended version but never got around to it. I'll save that experience for a review now I think
I’d recommend a 90s Stephen King tv movie called The Langoliers. It ran over 2 nights for about 4 hours. Takes place mostly on a plane. King has a cameo … weird critters devour time itself or something. It’s a true oddity. But the first half is rather compelling in a campy way.

With Ring Two I discovered that people pan films for a reason. They are rightfully warning you not to waste your time and money since life is short and we'd all rather spend the time watching masterpieces rather than dreks, which Hollywood has now a good supply of.
You're not wrong
I sometimes have horrible insomnia. Ring Two might be good to have on hand.
@masudashizue777 better than any pill for sure
Not seen any of the vhs movies mate ,
Hi MW - I agree the bookend stories are the best. Loved the Resident Evil homage especially. I think “Let and Let Dive” would have been better without the last ten minutes of the lead character just screaming his head off. Would really enjoy a whole VHS series ranking from you - looking forward to that!
It will defo happen, although I'm not going to include the spin-off this time. It would only end up bottom again
Rob Lowe (in)famously recounted, in his autobiography, how Rutger Hauer hadn't even bothered to learn his lines, and tried to improvise the final coffin speech about how he "used to be a cowboy" -- angering the director -- they ended up doing the scene with cue cards taped to Lowe's chest, leaning over the casket away from camera. Suggests that Hauer was either in a career slump, or had some health issues.
@@sskoog good lord, that's ridiculously unprofessional
Let's try to remember shall we that Mr Hauer is the guy who " composed " the entire Tears In The Rain Speech for Ridley Scott's science fiction masterpiece Blade runner. So perhaps on Salem's Lot he was just trying to help and have some further input into the said scene. He's a terrific actor and I have nothing but admiration for the great man. So sad he's gone. 😥
Watch 70s and 80s public information films they are Horror movies in themselves Health and Safety was hit and miss that's for sure
I remember one where a kid gets paralysed by a train track!
Think the main This Is Your Life, presenters were Eamon Andrews and Michael Aspel, who had his own talk show, similar concept to Michael Parkinson.
Those names sound vaguely familiar
Price also did two films playing a campy villain named Dr Goldfoot: Dr Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine, and Dr Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs
Lol not heard of these two
@@themidnightwoodsman1804 They're like Austin Powers crossed with the Adam West Batman series.
Price did do two films with his Dr Phibes character: The Abominable Dr Phibes, and Dr Phibes Rises Again! A third film was due to be made, The Brides of Phibes, but, sadly, it did not come to pass.
Heard good things about the Phibes films
Will you be reviewing the horror movie Terrifier 3? It came out today and it's absolutely brutal.
@jordywoody14 hey matey. I'm intending to, although won't be seeing it until the following weekend.
@@themidnightwoodsman1804 Hope you enjoy it. It's a blast.
When critiquing, be sure to remember the names of actors. The other bloke was James Mason.
you want a great stephen king adapatation? try storm of the century 1999
I found it fine,as a stand alone film, without the predecessor,it probably would've been more of a memorable film and certainly more faithful to the book, but like you said, the previous one had the better vibe and Barlow although pushing artistic licence from the book, was amazing and feral and generally scary, specially being mute. I'd say 3,1/2 is right. Are you going to review the current one or are you burnt out with Salems Lot, films/mini series?😂
Won't be the next vid but definitely planning to do it
Love this movie. Unfortunately, I was part way through it when I remembered I had watched a horror documentary years before, and one of the clips shown was of that character laughing maniacally. Once I remembered that I realised who it was. Still a lot of fun though.
@Matt.Pattinson Man that was unlucky. At least you still enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for this review. I’m always interested in what fans of the novel make of the 1979 miniseries on first watch. Incidentally, if you haven’t watched the 2024 remake already, don’t watch it. Go and watch peak hour traffic on the motorway instead- that’s how rushed the new version is.
@kathyheyne6030 heh, I'm going to see it next week. I think we're getting a cinema release in the UK.
Amicus might be my favourite studio!! Thanks 🙏
You're welcome
Apparently, neither Lee nor Price understood the film's plot. An early draft seems to have involved aliens. Not the biggest waste of Cushing in horror film history. That honour surely goes to his role as the sea captain in Dr Phibes Rises Again! Hessler's The Oblong Box also has Price and Lee, but, like Scream and Scream Again, they barely share any screen time, and the film is hilarious in all the wrong ways.
I've heard good things about Dr Phibes, although possibly there's more than 1
I enjoyed this when it was first aired in Britain, and was terrified by by the floating child vampire scratching at the window. Unfortunately, the main vampire, Mr Barlow, didn't frighten me at all: whenever his name was mentioned, I could only think of Coronation Street's Ken Barlow! I have a vague recollection that there is a shorter version of this called Salem's Lot: The Movie. I don't remember having seen it, so I don't know what is edited out.
The guy who plays Ken Barlow might have made a half decent Matt Burke.
Funny that three of the segments star actors named Ian: Ian Bannen, Ian Carmichael and Ian Ogilvy.
@@michaelhurley1497 ha, good spot
This one could have been a TV series with Peter Cushing's shopkeeper in every half episode telling a customer's tale And it was common to see mostly disabled military veterans selling laces string matches and niknaks form the late 1940s well into the 70s usually around busy commuter areas etc
@garybryant5946 yeah not a bad idea
Donald pleasance and his daughter episode is so creepy 👍🏻
Yeah they've certainly got that going for them
I remember Peter Cushing from all the " Dracula and Frankenstein Movies ; The House That Dripped Blood " and some others I think. Amicus may've been a small studio, but they created quite a few masterpieces in the Horror genre! Thanks for posting this on RUclips.
You're welcome Allen
I agree with all of your ranking except I would have put leatherface 2017 higher up with Texas chainsaw 3D. I ❤ both of those. Your ranking of Texas Chainsaw the Beginning was perfect. I’ve always felt like while it’s technically a “prequel” it doesn’t hit hard, like it could have just been another sequel 🤷♀️ just nothing great in the storyline.
About time they announced another one if you ask me
I do love this film but haven't seen it for about 30 years. I remember Peter Cushing having the shop, David Warner with the mirror, Donald Pleasence selling shoelaces, and a customer who gets a snuff box. So i appreciate you filling in a few blank spots in my memory.
I've talked many times about how much I love Peter Cushing and Donald Pleasence, but the same goes for David Warner. I think he's a very underrated actor, he's been in so many films, and is usually easy to recognise with his distinctive voice. I remember in this he looks to me the same as he does in The Omen, but i suppose it is only 2 years before.
Wasn't David Warner also in the classic sci-fi / fantasy classic " TimeBandits ? " I think 🤔 he was," 😈 🦹♀️ 👿 🖤 Incarnate? "
Oooh, you owe yourself a nostalgic re-watch I think
He's my favourite character in The Omen
He's my favourite in The Omen too. I think you're right about the rewatch.
160 minutes, 2 hours 40 minutes is pretty close to three hours. That being said, the RECs being combined into a single film would be awesome. Well worth watching for sure. Maybe someday someone on RUclips will do it:) Your ranking is solid, Bro.
@@LordWyatt thanks, Lord Wyett

Hubby and I did a predator marathon last weekend. I also like Predator 2 more than the first Predator. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed Prey, I went into that one not expecting to like it as much as I did.
