Growing up there were these little known movies made by some new upstart hotshot named George Lucas. He was going against the grain and had something to prove and being in his 30s he still knew what cool was. He wasn't the guy George Lucas that we know today and so he didn't have complete creative control over his IP. He had to work with some of the best people in the industry and accept their ideas and corroborate with them. The results for three classic masterpiece movies episode 4 5 and 6 of Star wars. That same man once he turned almost 70 decided he was going to further the franchise. It was clear from the get-go he had no idea what cool was anymore in his old age. And subsequently each released Star wars movie even though it was done by the original creator was gradually proven to be worse than his original dream. 30 years is a long time, and the guy had lost touch with his own creation. Bethesda and Todd Howard fall into the same category. 30 years ago they released "passion projects" that were simply incredible. That was a long time ago. When was the last time Bethesda or Todd Howard created a good and fun game? Why do you people keep buying these games? Why are you supporting a company that has turned out nothing but dribble for the last 15 years. The creative magic has long been gone, and they have a proven track record of letting their fans down for over a decade. Stop supporting garbage companies and their garbage games just because they have a famous name.

I strongly disagree with the last point that truth does not matter to this kind of racist. Measureheads are a very different beast than post-truth right-wingers. Measureheads are not Trump or Vance. Also, the jargon he uses is not meaningless. I think the writer has had a lot of contact with internet "science" nazis, for even the jokes, such as ham sandwich race, are aesthetically identical to the ones you will find throw around by this kind of racist. There is some internal coherence in his dialogue, albeit you can find the hilarious cracks in game along with his insecurities that motivate his discourse. But Measureheads do believe in their racism: the racial supremacy ideas of this kind of racist, in my experience, are axiomatic. They study obsessively about population genetics, archeogenetics, archaeology, comparative linguistics, comparative mythology, sometimes with less than good sources, such as the semenese radio he listened, and without the scientific background needed to understand some of the ideas in that literature, but systematically ignore or criticize the quality of any evidence that points away from their racist axioms. Sometimes, the evidence is so strong that they reformulate completely their interpretation of the data so it can still allow for the racist axiom to be externally coherent.

Measurehead is the kind of person who reads a lot of population genetics and archeological academic articles and try to decompose the evidence in weird unscientific ways to justify their pre-formed racial or cultural supremacy beliefs. They tend to fixate on haplogroup data, for it reveals patterns of asymmetric mating that are important for their theories of racial superiority. You can find lots of Measureheads in both the pseudoscientific racist forums or in places about Indo-european studies, in the last case being the "insane" person the academics refuse to interact. Sometimes, different Measureheads meet. The most common example is the literal slavonazi that got all giddy with the genetic confirmation of the Kurgan Hypothesis who meets the Hindutva supremacist who claims that Indus valley civilization is the birthplace of Indo-european languages. The "debates" between then are absolutely hilarious. One of the things that motivates me to pursue a PhD in population genetics after my medical residency is the opportunity my research will allow in messing up with those people on the internet.

Measurehead is a real one for expressing his hatred of potatoes loudly and proudly. The silent potato hating majority is rising up.

Measurehead helped define Disco Elysium for me. I didn’t look around too much before finding him, and I assumed he'd be a sort of dialogue boss, where all I needed to do was say the right things to proceed. So, I just appeased him, saying what he wanted to hear thinking he'd let me pass. Then, I reached the point where you have to internalize his racist perspective to actually get through to me. I remember the cold realization that was - a presumably-permanent change in my character's perspective just to get passed this one guy. This wasn't the straightforward game I was expecting, and it got me to take every subsequent conversation more seriously. Good stuff.

What makes him so great is definitely the voice acting and the amazing insults.

measurehead is my favorite racist too I reckon. Hes is just such an interesting character study of that kind of racist that uses bad "scientific logic" and works backwards to justify racism. And it's surprising how he's both a big meathead but also has a strong interest in that pseudoscience, it was really unexpected

I have replayed this game many times and was just thinking about playing it again. Searching for the SCCT soundtrack brought me here. My friend and I believe this was the greatest game ever made and wish for a reboot of the franchise in the style of CT.
