Have your calculations of cost and efficiency allowed for lugging around that electric motor and the necessarily heavy battery that goes with it? Loss of load capacity used by weight of electric components? Extra tire and road wear caused by that extra weight? The extremely high costs of mining the rare earths necessary to build this electric traction system? The amount of extra copper that will be needed? The added costs to dispose of that nasty battery at end-of-life? My money says the integrated costs of all these factors including the pollution side effects of mining, etc. make the net economic and environmental efficiency of this design vs a pure diesel design a near wash.
