wow!!! I was 4 years old during Festac 77 and this song has always been stuck in my head!!!
How I wish you can show us the performance of every musician at the event. Cheers 🥂.
A lot of resources was looted out of Nigeria in d name of Festac
Some of you in this comment section kill me. "Nigeria went down after FESTAC'77 because of demons." Mind you, this same country had already fought a devastating war before then. You do not blame the coups and counter coups, the corruption stretching as far back as the first republic and the subsequent fall in global oil prices as a reason for the country's woes, but you can claim a cultural festival supposedly "dumped demons" in the country. I'm not sorry to say that you people and all your fathers who told you such things are fools. And people like you with such disgusting mindsets are part of the problems we have today.
It was a folly event in the eyes of God, our deliverer. How I wish those days were celebrated in the name of God instead of deities who enslaved us in the first place. No surprise how things have turned out for all Blacks around the globe especially the economic woes our nation is facing currently. Heavenly Father, have mercy and heal our land. We, the people you created in your image are suffering. Establish a culture of Heaven on Earth. Our identity is only found in Jesus Christ.
So you mean your heritage is of the Devil!
Amen
Y'all know Nigeria went south after this event. All this countries came and dump their problems and demons here. See how they all left us behind because as this country is going it's not ordinary 😢
I totally agree with you - the beginning of the end for Nigeria especially for spiritual reasons. We all know spiritual controls the physical.
I strongly feel like this is a myth
Fantastic
I was at Lagos that Time, our house was very close to the surulere stadium, adebola street. From the windows WE can see the ambiance...
Wonderful ocasión,why It doesn't happen again?
I remember this like it was yesterday. I was still a nipper at the time! Great memories. ❤️
Nice and Excellent ❤️💯

Why are some people so delusioned and brainwashed in these comments?
It’s quite desolating…
Likeeeee!
Very nice.. Great
They really displayed jazz ( otumokpo)
Never knew Nelly Uchendu was part of the Festac 77 choir. Interesting. Remember listening to the theme song every morning by 7 am on radio as we headed off to school, good old days
This should be revived and done across Africa.
They came with droves of demons and Nigeria is yet to recover from the aftermath result of the event

You're an absolute disgrace. The funny thing Is you don't even realise how ignorant you sound. No other people hate their ancestral origin to the extent of equating it with the devil. The colonialists did a real job on your heads. Pathetic.
my father told me the same too
All I can say it was Nigeria at it's best if things were on track after that we could have held the Olympic games
It was a jambo. $$$$Jamboree$$$
I learnt Nigeria started going downhill right after this event was held and they have never recovered since.
My Dad also said same, I wonder why, maybe the gods attached to those arts decided to frustrate any effort on progress.
U are very correct sir
So I heard too
there is a repented witch that said she and her coven handed Nigeria over to the devil during this event. That may not seem true, but you cant deny that Nigeria started going downhill after this event
@Nnamdi Chukwuka exactly
I wonder what happened
An Evil culture/ outing that landed Nigeria in mess. A Demonic handover of Nigeria to a Deity so wicked
When Nigeria was Nigeria. Just look at the face of that crowd and the quality of commentary.
It's sad that many of us now regard our different cultures and original beliefs and collective world views as evil just because of the white man's brain washing that has been seared into our souls. Before his coming, you knew no different and your beliefs were as true and authentic and pure to you as you have been taught to believe the white man's beliefs and narratives supposedly are.,it's really sad. This was a great idea, alas,it appears we may never get such a time as this back.
This festival was celebrated 44years ago. God warned Nigerians but they were adamant. Nigeria is a land that God cherishes so much but since they deviated from God by bringing idols, they must pay. Nothing can change this. God honors his word more than is name. If you want to run is better you do... Because everything that is happening in Nigeria God knows.
Yeah you're right

Celebration of witchcraft culture. I lived in Festac. Sad.

This is one of the very things that arouse the anger of God in Nigeria, Idolatrous celebration so called festac-77. If Nigeria refuses to repent from this evil act committed against God, then me and you must personally repent from the evil of festac-77 that Nigeria has committed against God.
a laughable remark from you I must say! You equated a celebration of our indigenous arts and culture to Paganism. How much of a conquered mind you are that you abhor display of customs.
You're backward, they are celebrating culture which Jehovah ordained. Stop Miss representing God, who are you to judge God's children with your white religion you ignorant

An indication that people can still live even though the brain is dead already.

Chai!! I remember very well. I was 7 years in 1977
The beginning of God Anger in Nigeria, we all need to repent and beg God for His forgiveness for bringing idols in this blessed land. Jesus my Lord pls have mercy upon Nigeria and Africa.
You are lost. Those so called idols were there thousands of years before your foreign religions came! Go read some books to know your history and free your self from mental and religious slavery!

I remember this so well. We lived in festac from 1978. Our eyes were glued to our black and white tv. The days when Nigeria was a safe country to live in. We memorised the theme song. So much memories. I didn't even know this was online.

They failed the generation of today.
100% right. I can't imagine the anger of upon that person who directed this wickedness.
I was also a teenager then and still remember all the preparations made by my country's contingent, DRC, then Zaïre. Ô my Africa, ô my African diaspora, so why we always can't stick to and stick at what is good for ourselves so that we earn respect from others?
Today every African talk down on Nigeria despite all her efforts, I don't like Nigeria either but it deserve some respect.
Its a beautiful reminder of life in 77. The FESATAC logo of the benin mask and several things like the theme song was fun. There was a song i enjoyed then .... "Vickee ye ma pum eh". Cant recall the artiste but it was fun
good skit for societal sensitization
I remember the Festac 77 theme song very well. I was 10 years old when Festac was on, living in Jos, Benue Plateau State in those days. I loved the performances then even as a 10 year old. Sweet memories. Thanks for posting.
Amazing project.
