Добавлен 1 фев 2017
This channel is dedicated to old school gospel quartets which are responsible for my love of music. I will occasionally post play-along guitar videos as instructional tools for selected songs. I am your master of ceremonies "The Cross" and I will introduce to some and present to others the great gospel quartets I grew up on.
The Gospel Keynotes - It won't be long (tutorial..sort of)
I've neglected this channel too long, time to put in some work. Who wants to learn this beautiful song...you? Of course you do, and since it's Christmas there's no greater present than learning to play a Keynote's song!

The Gospel Keynotes - Live in Nashville, TN '76 (audio only)

Zion here, and for the first time ever, i bring you the show that brought the house down! Songs: I made a Vow, Jesus you've been good to me, I feel the fire burning Finally, I posted my first video after so much turmoil. It's ironic that a gospel recording took me through hell to post. Much of it's due to the primitive method I was forced to use, and living in what must be the world's noisiest ...
I’m mad at the angels of death
A side note: If you listen closely when Paul Is 🔒 In on Jesus you been good to me Larry is also back him and well known falsetto singer. Also 76 was the last year Lonnie Hill was on lead 🎸 with the Keynotes (5yrs). He was on this recording along with Val on 🎸 It wasn’t long after this he left the keynotes and joined the R&B group Topazz..
wow, thanks for that info because i've always wondered who played lead on the albums. i often thought that maybe val overdubbed on the albums since he's the only lead player on the album covers
@privatejoy 7587 Lonnie Hill was a original member and lead guitarist on the early keynotes songs & Album covers. He’s pictured on this album cover seated under Willie Neal Johnson..
@Bishop936 oh ok, for some reason i thought he was the drummer
Red was the drummer in the Early Days then Ricky Boston (80’s) willie Neal son & David Talley late 90’s-2000..
@@Bishop936 thanks for the clarifications! 👍
That album was entitled Live in Nashville, a 2 record set put out by Nashboro Records.
Would you believe I found that LP at a Flea Market.
who ever got rid of that album was obviously a deaf mute, thats like finding a pot of gold
@@privatejoy7587 Well that what this guy did for a living. He sold Music Cassettes
@@privatejoy7587 No, this Man sold record album as a job, That is how he made a living ,Selling records. I bought five Gospel albums from him.
@@privatejoy7587 That what this man did for a living. He sold cassettes at the Flea market. This dude had hundred of Artists.
There will never be another GOSPEL KEYNOTES Like Willie Neal Johnson Gospel Group.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I should have been a Keynote
Love those Keynotes
Oh, yea I got the album
that's a treasure
I remember waiting anxiously for my mom to bring me a Mighty Clouds Of Joy album that I saw downtown and they didn't have and she brought me the Gospel Keynotes and the disappointment went away as soon as the needle hit the record and Jesus You've been good to me I've decided to make Jesus my choice and still playing it on a box record player 🇺🇲
What Live Alumb This Was On? I Remember A Live Alumb That They Did In 1979 On The AVI Records Label.
i don't remember the album name, but there were other artists on it. one thing for sure this concert wasn't in '79
The best Gospel group period.

I’m a drummer and take it from me. That drummer is slapping those heads! The music is absolutely tight!
Just discovered the gospel keynotes in 2021 and blown away by the anointing. Miss these guys already!
You missed out on a treat. Their live performances were SPECTACULAR
Word of advice. Do yourself a favor and search for That's My Son and Keynotes Prayer (the 7 minute version). You'll thank me later.
I bought a guitar years ago and got so frustrated. But I've watched all the Great Quartets for Years. Have you heard the live recording in Nashville of The Gospel Keynotes. The Talent they had Whew that night. That was a serious Show. You absolutely Killed this Brother! Question can you do one with the Nashville live?
thanks for the comment. yeah that was my channel, i'm the one that posted that concert. google took the channel from me so i can no longer post videos, just receive and reply to comments.

There will never be voices like those men who were ahead of their time.

I gotta have it!!
Please please please tell my there is a video recording of this concert!!!!!!!!
sorry, there was no video associated with this recording
@@thecross9768 well is there any footage of the keynotes from the 70s
@@Dmoney2times51 not to my knowledge
I grew up listening to this dynamic quartet. This is a wonderful quartet that moves my soul into overdrive to get God's work done here on this cruel journey through life. Listening to music like this makes you not give up. Thank God for such a wonderful group of people that are really singing for you and not money. I love you Gospel Keynotes.
One of the best groups of all times.
without a doubt!
yes
This is classic!!! Nothin like a live recording back then. Quarters dont have that raw sound anymore. Before all the technology that we have now
Listening on MY way to Work
I remember back in the 80’s I first met willie and the keynotes in my home town of Roxboro n c at the Kirby where we brought them there I just fell in love with these guys I have never seen any one sang like willie and the keynotes did and now I am 59 years old and I still listen to them I just love the way willie call on Paul back than and Robert I love all of there songs my favorite one the keynotes pray
LOVE THAT VINYL CRACKLING SOUN EFFECT THAT'S ATHROW BACK!.

I can't get enough of this one!! Yeah THIS IS NUMBER INFINITY for ME.....The music OMG!! Just my opinion this has to be Number 1 or 2 in Their Top Ten Live Performance!! Paul Paul Paul...come here Paul....Thank You to The Cross once again!!! #youblessedus
glad you're enjoying it
Just found this in 2019, will be listening to it in 2020 and on, until God calls me home. That bass is kicking.
glad you’re enjoying it
Essie I'm listening right now again and again 2022. Can't get enough
Sang Paul!!!!!! Larry is lit on that bass on jesus you been good!!! Man i miss music like this.
That VAL had a sound on that guitar unmatched and unmistakably him!!! This is vintage Keynotes here.
that's right! his playing style is the keynotes identity.
And now val passed on rip val
What year did Jeffrey join the group?
i'm thinking around 1980. i followed them throughout the 70s and i don't remember him as a member.
The Cross 1976
We joined the dame year I'm the drummer
Same year
What's up Ricky? I'll go way back with the Keynotes... you and Jeffrey and the modulations of Florida with Glenn Jones
Greatest gospel quartet group ever..The Mighty Keynotes
....and this concert makes a strong argument!
Do you have the full concert of this ?
this was all as far as the keynotes goes, they only did those 3 songs. there were others on the album but i’m not sure it’s the same concert and i didn’t make computer files on them.
@@thecross9768 thank you so very much they are one of my favorite groups
Unfortunately if they did record other songs that day, we probably won't ever hear them. The place where the nashboro records masters were stored burned down some time ago.
Wonder if RUclips is keeping count on my views? asking for a friend....
i don’t understand the question
😂😂😂 I know right!
Please show more of playing these classics. I always wondered how he was playing that guitar. One of my favorite groups. I love the Violinairs...
Play that guitar man... Sounds just like him. Again... please play more
yeah i intend to do more
If they only knew how special this recording is there would be more than than 21, 837 views!
this is a small channel so a lot of gospel fans don't know it exist..just have to happen up on it.
ok a lot of Gospel folks may not believe me but the only way you will see this kind of Singing is if you go to a alternative or punk rock concert...if you are open minded in this new world we live in you will see. trust me I seen it with my own two eyes
Absolutely!… Gospel Quartet had energy and power back then. It’s something that Quartet lacks nowadays.
I listen to this over and over I love me some keynotes
that ole school gospel, nothin' else feels like it!
