2024 Elantra N at Ridge Motorsports Park 1:51.95 lap
Car finally got into the 1:51s with my friend @thebrianlee driving (with passenger) and chasing @javellinmotorsports as a rabbit at the LightSpeed Track Events day on 10/5.
Lap3 91 octane tune, 245/40/18 Goodyear 3Rs, and OEM brake pads. Had the OEM pads in because I wasn't planning to get much laps in this track day anyways, but def braking was limited and could have got the car in the 50s if proper race pads were in.

2024 Elantra N DCT in perfect PB conditions today. Still on 245/40/18 3Rs, Cobalt XR2 front/OEM rear, and Lap3 91 octane tune. Need to clean up some sections and get into the 1:51s. Adjusted the “advance sound settings” and put it in TCR mode which is why the car sounds different. Fake noise sounds silly but it actually helps me keep track of shifting points.

2024 Elantra N DCT. 245/40/18 Goodyear 3Rs, Cobalt XR2 front pads/OEM rear, Lap3 91 octane tune (No more octane learning). First non-oem lap, car felt a lot better. Def has more time in it but will chip away at it slowly as I get more time on this setup, and maybe some colder days.

Still on stock power, OEM PS4s, and OEM pads. Only mod is camber bolts and alignment. 1:38.3 lap later in the day with 77 degree temps. Def has more time in it, but prob the fastest I want to push it on stock tires/pads at Pacific.

First track day at Ridge with the Elantra N on OEM PS4s with just camber bolts . Not so great lap with ambient temps in the 90s and everything feeling slow. Even the camera angle is bad. Car definitely has a lot more time in it, just need to get over the stupid octane learning and better brake pads and tires. Photo cred: MC Motorsports Design

Winning lap from the 2024 May 10-11 OnGrid Time Attack GT class. Mods: Goodyear Supercar 3 (220TW) 285/35/19 on Titan7 19x11 wheels, Ohlins Road and Track suspension, millway camber plates, and OEM brake pads. With warmer weather car felt slower than the usual colder track days. Not a perfect lap, prob 1-1.5 seconds left on the table if I can improve some sections.

Got to borrow a friend's G80 M3 with 6 speed manual for a Laguna trackday with LightSpeed Track Events. First time at the track and didn't want to push 10/10th on a car that isn't mine. Definitely left a lot time on the table. Hope to make it back with my own car and get in the 30s.

2022 BMW M4 Competition xDrive. Stock power, OEM suspension, and brake pads. *Only mods: millway camber plates, Apex forged wheels, RE71RS 285/35/19 tires. Previous best on RE71RS was 1:48.50 and was able to get a 1:47.76 today. Looks like these tires get better (dry) times as the tread wears down. I'm really wanting to commit to doing this series in 2025. I've done lots of track days at the Ridge with Turn2, but I think it'd be fun to try competitive lapping. I don't think I'd be very competitive in my car, though - especially since it's basically stock at this point.
Hey Paul! I have been checking out ur vids, subscribed :D But yea, I saw your 1:24 at my home track, hallet, in a toyota supra and amd really wanting to know that mod list :D
Ah I just realized I never listed it in that video description. It was actually a 1:22 lap :P but lots of mods but most of the time coming from CSG flexfuel tune on E50, Goodyear Supercar 3R tires, Verus aero, and HKS Hypermax SP coil overs.
Looks like a bit better mid corner rotation would help. Seems to get into the corners pretty well, though. Nice lap!

It has been proven by multiple dynos that the car makes the advertised 276HP (250-260whp) non octane learned. Whem octane learned the car makes additional power that isnt advertised. 270-280 whp. The display isnt an accurate measurement of the car's current output.
@@JamessLuner-wi2qs dynos and advertised numbers between manufacturers are all over the place and too many variables to mention. I’m seeing about a 4mph difference on the straight and that’s a huge difference in power and makes it even more frustrating when the car won’t octane learn.
@@ChinTrack that's the difference 30 whp makes on they straight I guess. Hopefully Hyundai will update the ECU to be easier to octane learn, or get rid of it altogether

So you're complaining about getting a free horsepower and torque boost above the advertised numbers?
It's not above advertised numbers. Car won't push over 250lb of tq when it isn't octane learned. Advertised is 289lbs.
@@ChinTrack Well, that's surprising! My apologies. I'm still breaking mine in, so perhaps should have kept my mouth shut. But by all the accounts I've seen, people have been able to get well above the advertised numbers with octane learning, so it should be able to hit the advertised numbers with it. What octane are you running?
@@nigel_white I'm using 92 octane (WA State), and you are correct in that second point. It seems Hyundai used conservative figures for their advertised 286hp rating and with octane learning it def feels a hair more than that.
@@ChinTrack I did a very brief pull in 6th gear (DCT) from 3000 to 4000 rpm and saw 270ftlb of torque at 15psi. When you're only seeing 250ftlb, what gear and RPM are you at? Depending on gear and RPM, it could be that there's just not enough load on the engine to need more than the 250ftlb you're seeing.
How do you know that it resets the octane learning? Boost pressure? ignition timing? I'm just curious. I am picking a 24 EN in about 8 weeks myself. Most manufacturers have an algorithm that continually updates for their octane learning. I saw that you need to do the procedure but as you have stated, I never heard anyone say it reset when you filled the tank. Possibly a new strategy for the 2024 model year?
@@turbobros_online1561 boost pressure which is on the display in N mode. If it hasn’t learned it will hit a max of 15 psi. And not a new procedure for 2024, all model years reset with each fill.
OK, well now I know what to shoot for with my new Supra. Only been on that track once and got it up to 130. Obviously it can go faster. :)

Curious about OnGrid time trials, never entered one. How do you see the current standings for 2024 season? Are Porsche GT3/GT4s in the GT class?
GT3s and 718 GT4s are in GT+. A 1:42 won the GT+ at this event. The fastest GT car is probably a Supra.

@ChinTrack the new gen of supra is slept on. Hated on even. When it did what it needed. Easy to tune and modify wit plenty of spots to add functional vents for some of the most insane performance mods. Heard some earlier production ones of the new supras with just a tune hit 750 hp no problem
How do you like the catalyst lap timer? The voice guidance is very cool. Do you find it valuable?

@@GiraffeApocalypse Dude, you don't have to do time trials ya know, you can just take it easy, but easy on the track is like 90% on the street (depending on what you drive)
Thanks for info. How many day you think can get out of it compare to 3R ? 3R won't last more than 2 event on my gt350, how about in your M ? Similar weight
I'm kind of an outlier, I was able to get 5-6 days out of 3Rs, but I usually run just half of my 20 min sessions and only go 10/10ths for the first 2-3 laps. I feel like I would be able to get the same amount of days out of the RE71RS.
@@ChinTrack that’s amazing looks like heat management is the key. But that make sense if you only push push less than 5 minute. What’s your alignment setting at ?

Initial thoughts compared with the Supra? times aside.
Reason for going for the M4 was that I wanted to just have a one car garage, and I knew the M4 Comp xDrive would be a very track capable and daily/all weather car. I expected it to be slower on track due to the weight, and I don't have plans to mod it like crazy like I did with the Supra. Really miss having full track suspension and aero on track. The tuned Supra just has so much more low end torque than the M4, although top end speed is about the same on the straight. But biggest difference between M4 and the Supra, I can get on full throttle a lot earlier thanks to the more linear torque curve and the xDrive AWD.
@@ChinTrack thanks for the quick review and makes sense. for what little it may be worth, i think you're balancing fun with practicality in one of the best ways. keep driving!

@@herrickhuang2005 dude whats the point of lying about mods? a stock supra traps about 112-117 depending on year. A 6th gen Viper traps at about 129. and a Viper does the front straight at about 148-150 on the straight at the Ridge. so if your "stock" Supra is just 2mph short of that its not stock, its not making up 15mph on a Viper between 115 and 150...

Great lap. I think you could have gone even faster if the GT3 wasn't in front of you haha. What other modifications do you have? Camber plates? Springs or suspension? 275 square setup or staggered? What is the car making on that E30 tune you were running?
HKS Hipermax SP coilovers and SPL lower control arms for additional camber, 275 square, and its making about 475hp to the wheels on the E30 tune.
What happened in turn 5? Sounded like it was scraping something?
Driver error :( Was carrying too much speed and wasn't smooth with my inputs.

Hi! Does your platform measure roughly 7.5ftx6ft? Does that work okay with the bar length being roughly 7 feet?
Justin Lee yes, and it worked fine since the plate impact area are well inside 7.5ft. If you are a worlds strongest man competitor and often have the plates loaded up to the end of the bar then it may be a problem lol.
