Preventing Leaves From Spilling Onto Parkway
Start from inside the truck first.
Amazing 😻
Great tips thx u!
is it common practice for the city to clear a upper lateral with a water jet cleaner? Do you also clean out upper laterals? Is is also supposed to be vacuumed out? Thanks
You have a new subscriber thanks for the video very informative I needed this to get through broom training
Great video thanks for the info also I see your on the west side of Chicago by the el tracks and metra and Amtrak viaduct as well keep up the good work !😃
My guy Spanky! your friend ROCK
SPANKY DOES IT AGAIN!
Way to go SPANKIE!
First thing to do when you get your new Vactor 2100i or Plus, diconnect the bloody low water warning alarm. Low warning light still illuminates.
Thanks for the tips. Part of this video covers water in the curb. I tried it one day while it was raining. It worked so well that I sweep in the rain all the time like that. I take a block at a time. It's slower but it does a better job and there's not near as much water to contend with. Thanks again. Waukegan ( IL)
How do you not leave a trail when making a right turn?
I appreciate your video, I'm about to run a Vactor truck for the Virginia Dept of Transportation
Litter bugs sit on the group W bench of Alice's Damn Restaurant.
Before I moved from Wisconsin, I had a trainer from MacQueen named Tim, he knew every feature and how to adjust about everything, awesome personality and made us feel like he was one of us instead of a truck salesman.
I think your springs are knackered!
Thats the legendary P-Series. Drive a truck if you cant handle the bumps!
You sweep 5mph with an Elgin, Elgin sweepers are notorious for breaking down if you bully them. An Elgin Pelican takes finesse and skill to operate properly an requires constant maintenance. remember to be constantly aware of your surroundings ,being that an Elgin is very difficult to see out of it has a ton of blindspots .. I've been an operator for 37yrs . Be careful an good luck, remember it takes many years to learn how to become a sweeper operator. If you have any questions concerning sweep operations feel free to email me at Jollyroger645@gmail.com..
@Anthony Ganci, I was a youngster in the early 1960s and the town I grew up in in Minnesota, we had a late 1950s Wayne three-wheel street sweeper. All the little boys loved it it was yellow and we called it the yellow sweeper. Odd-looking machine.
The newer Pelican they started making in 2008 actually has vastly improved visibility as opposed to the older 90's-early 2000s model.
Terrible video. Felt like i was listening to my wife, i couldn't hear anything!!
MeatHead Dalton Then this isn't the job for you, you'd do TERRIBLE on the field with one of these monsters....
MeatHead Dalton on the other hand, do you mean you thought it was your wife so you didn't pay attention, orrr did you mean your wife is noisy and scandalous that you really can't understand her ? Or both 😂
good job Dave!!
if going to fast does it still pick up dirt?
Yes, some of it will be picked up.
slower is always better.
do you need a drivers license to operate one of those?
CasperthefriendlyGhost PeakAboo yes u do just like any vehicle. Depending on the area even a CDL (commercial drivers license)
You can damage a Pelican?
Yes you can
@@breebree6121 I was being facetious. They pick up what a lot won't but nothing is indestructible. Never frove Pelicans or Wayne's Only FMC three wheels.
What speed are you sweeping at?
Just transferred to the Highway Dept. overnight shift sweeping streets. No formal instruction so this video ( and others I will watch) will teach me the correct procedures. Thanks for posting this!
HEY THATS ME!!!!!!!!!!
Is it safe for an Elgin Pelican to make a u turn with the main broom down? Also does the link count( adjustment chains) on the main broom adjustment have to be the same on both sides? Im told the link count has to be less on the pump side of the main broom due to the weight. I find this wears the broom unevenly. It still wears uneven when the link count is the same.
If the road surface is smooth, yes you are safe making a U turn with the main broom down. If you catch a water shut off a manhole or any other thing that is sticking up from the surface with your side shoe when you are in a sharp turn. The side shoe is probably going to bend. The pump side of the main broom is heavier. With the sweeper stopped drop and turn on the main broom burn a pattern. Move the sweeper check the pattern, If I remember right about 4 inches wide all the way across is about right. If you notice the broom wearing uneven add pressure to the longer side keeping about a 4 inch pattern on the shorter side. The pattern and even wear is far more important than the link count that gets you there.
@@MrCityJerry yeah and then gently or you will trail like a bitch. I rin an eligin broom bear and a schwarze m6000 depends on the job I love street sweping
indeed never knew you needed to do it that way ...
i operated that very same vactor and during fan washout it didnt come clean until i engaged the blower as soon as i did, an incredible amount of dirt washed out of the drain i used many galloms of water to complete the process
I thought it was very informative.
