This is the 1980's, and there is No more Electrification. It's sad that the Milwaukee Road was abandoned, it could have totally been able to achieve the 100% Zero Emissions by 2047 deadline. But no, it's management was stupid, and they decided to end Electrification at the worst possible time.

I would have snagged that concrete Whistle Post shown at 1:10 !! I got a metal one from the Cincinnati Northern at Cement City , Michigan in 1975 , it was under a pile of stick rail from the rail removal process. What a save this was, it is now fully restored and safe in my side yard. Great vid , thanks !! Used to live in Dane , WI. in the mid 70's , right near the double semaphores on Dane Hill. Great memories of Pink Lady ballast trains struggling up the grade. Once with Cab units when one of the big motors failed in Lodi.

We miss the road"43 yrs lived by the Ford plant in St Paul...tracks to plant were 70' my apt...10 mph track all way to dntwn 5.3mi used to hop and get off dntwn bus home,last train into Ford plant 2012,200 acre yard is all condos in 2023,trains 5x a day...the best old days for me

I will never forget the Chicago Northwestern. They Ran through my backyard. I learned so very quickly about trains and repair work being done. Just to hear the sound of the train coming. And to know the signal was timed. Thank you for sharing this. 😊

Good work to start off with the power at Wisconsin Rapids. The SB to begin the mainline action is the inbound sand empty of S774 heading bound to Taylor on the CN's Whitehall Sub. What catch of that NB with GTW GP9R 4619 in tow 4th on M343! Beautifully done getting the diesel oil load of U754 with CSXT ES44AH 3051 and CSXT CW44AC 443 2nd & 3rd along with brand new ET44AC of CN 3288 that was recently delivered in Memphis, TN a couple of days back. Nice job getting the M357 with some cars carrying the trailer frames on the top with CN 2304 to lead it and CN 3822 as rear DPU. The next SB should be M342 that M357 met at JO. Beautifully done BJ! Glad you had a great day of catches.

Nice one BJ! That is M340 to begin, the crude oil empty is U267 with the NS 3601 for I've seen that through Ladysmith, CN 5744 led on Q117. Well done viewing the power at Point! Next train was X340 with the CN 2251 to lead. CN 5709 led on B731, I got that train in Ladysmith also. The diesel oil empty led by CN 2979 is U759. Your last train that had CN 5676 lead is M356. Good work out there.

I have some images of the line in my mind. Live only 20 or so miles from Union Center. I do remember clearly the hopper sitting on the siding waiting for the H&NE to pick up in Union Center .... after the railroad closed.
