The great tommy sleep out 2024
in todays video I sleepout to raise money for ex service men who are living rough in the uk ,its estimated that over 6000 ex service men are living rough on the streets of the uk ,an increase of 14% over previous years ,shocking considering these men and women put their lives on the line to protect our country ,much more should be done for these people !!

mam tor and winnets pass (almost) wild camp
What part of the moor is that spot?
I was watching until you lost all credibility suggesting SRAM gears ! Ludicrous idea just like the Orange grips that will look dirty in no time. Such a negative review from start to finish. You do realise this is from a German manufacturer ? The wheels are splendid and will take quite a beating. Brakes are fine if you remember to clean and degrease the brake discs on each wheel before your first ever ride, reason being the bikes are sprayed with a fine preservative grease during transport which will contaminate the disk pads if not removed.
The brakes are crap ,cheap as they come as for suggestions of sram gears I’ve ran sram on my bronson and other bikes for a long time and if Set up correctly they perform very well ,I’ve ran shimano xtr and they are also very good it’s all about personal preference and what the individual prefers
@@Wildernessoutside Owned a bike shop for the last 18 years and in my experience the sram cassettes, chains, shifters and cassettes don't last anywhere near as long as shimano. Rode a haibike with these brakes a fair number of miles now and they are perfectly adequate for general use. Yes you can get quad piston all singing all dancing brakes but no need on this entry level ebike.
@@TheTwistedStone it’s gonna be upgraded for more serious stuff ,like I said in the video the forks and such have been upgraded ,as you’ve owned a bike shop for 18 years you’ll know that people have different preferences I’ve been riding bikes for 40 plus years and have rode campag shimano and SRAM and have never had an issue with wear and tear on the sram stuff always served me well and lasted a long time ,shimano are easier to set up ,but if you set up sram right you’ll have a great shifting bike with comparable longevity
@@Wildernessoutside We have a lot of newer bikes coming in with massive 12 speed rear cassettes that can cost a pretty penny. Some have been fitted to higher end ebikes and the chain tension on the SRAM derailleurs is so strong the jockey wheels wear out in no time not to mention the chain and the cassettes themselves. Only going on experience from having to repair and service bikes but I would go with Shimano all day long.
@@TheTwistedStonethat’s your personal preference though
Real talk would have said he's just jacked it but more than likely chased off from a primary scho##l
Says the guy who looks like he’s just escaped from a Eastern European gulag 😂
Lovely .is that a stoke accent
yes mate
@@Wildernessoutside where do you go in Stoke I'm struggling to find places to wild camp
Does the small fuel can fit inside the cup please? Thinking of picking one up and using it with a small can and my brs micro stove, for a tiny set for everyday use thanks
no that's the only drawback ,but the 250g jetboil or msr gas sits nicely on top and I tend to just store it that way in a side pouch of a backpack ,the complete cook system takes up very little space compared to systems like the jet boil minimo or equvilant all in one systems
@@Wildernessoutside cheers! Good to know :)
I’m 6’1 tall, do you think that the hardnine 4 (L) is good size for me?
its all personal preference ,im 5,8 and run a medium frame
work on your video sound.
Do you need a key to remove the battery?
Yes
Great vid, looks like a cracking spot, any chance of the Grid ref?...Is it King Stone?
How about now that some time has passed? How long does the battery last more or less? Are you happy with her?
The battery life is still pretty good I was wary about Charging the battery and draining it but I tend to not let it drop below 2 bars and if I don’t use it for say a month or two I leave the battery at about 40-50% ,I’ve used the bike almost daily as my commute to work and have only really seen about 2/3 miles drop in range since I first bought it ,so any loss in battery performance is minimal
As for being happy with her I’m more than happy ,she’s a nice bike for the price and any short comings are easily fixed as swapping out forks ,wheels etc etc are simple to do
@@Wildernessoutside Okay, I'm glad, I'm thinking of buying the model 7 to make mountain routes on time, and especially to make some trip like the Camino de Santiago and other similar routes in Spain. Do you know if you can put a rack on it? With that and with a bag that occupies the frame, I would be happy to travel. Thank you very much for your information, the feedback of someone who has thoroughly tested it like you is very helpful. A hug and good pedaling.
@@JuanPreciado87 I think you can put a rack on it but I will double check and let you know
Can you take the battery out
Yes the battery is easily removable ,you just take the black cover off from the down tube and then there’s a little key hole that you put your key in ,turn it and battery disconnects
funny that you looked like you were in jurassic park looking both ways looking if you are being hunted :D
What is the maximum weight it can take?
Tbh it’s something I’ve never looked into ,I’d say as long as your not 25 stone you’ll be ok
@@Wildernessoutside I weigh 230 lbs. Is this bike capable of lifting my weight or should I look at something else?
@@vassiliskyriakopoulos4450 I’m not sure as I don’t know what maximum weight is ,I suggest looking on haibike website they might have the information you need
No way - as if you're from Stoke! I could never have guessed from the accent 😅. Love it... Always wondered about the potential of that rounded hill next to Parkhouse, so thanks for showing it's a great pitch, good to know. Also great to see local wildcampers out in a stunner of a local spot. Cheers lads, looked a top camp. 👍
Cheers for the watch fella, yeah it’s a good little spot it’s next to a tumulus so if you don’t mind sleeping next to the dead you’ll be alreet ,yeah it was a good little wild camp close to home although at one point we though we of may have to move if wind changed as there was a moor fire the back of chrome hill
I don't see how you can do a review on something you have never used. For example on my Eagle kettle(0.7lt) the handles wont stay up when using it on a stove, as a result I have to wear a glove to to pour out my cuppa, Yes its well made, very shiny, but I find myself using the Fire maple stainless steel antarti as my go to kettle. I tried to like the Eagle, but burnt fingers put you off.
Been using it for 12 months or more now and have no issues with it as the bail handles haven’t been an issue as it’s intended to be used with a fire hook or a big long stick ,if your using it on a stove or on the edge of a fire then as gravity always wins the handles are bound to fall and get hot ,I suggest using it with a fire hook and suspend it over the fire and not on or in the fire ,hope this helps
As you say mate, you’ve got the main bit, frame, electrics and motor, rest is just upgrades, lovely looking bike
Yeah it’s not a bad looking bike for the price ,could do a lot worse
Can’t believe this, just gone into semi retirement with a new bike, your channel is perfect for what I need, awesome mate, I’m from Trentvale and only comfortable on the canal because I had no idea all these circuits were all around me, thank you mate
Hope you enjoy mate
Is that hanchurch near Trentvale
yeah
Awesome boys
Nice day out. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day. Take care and see you again soon.
Thanks I’m glad you liked it ,was my first time on mull and Iona but really enjoyed it and plan to go back again in the future
wild camp looked like a campground.
Yes it’s had some fair use over the last 18 months ,unfortunately that spot has had a few issues since COVID ,with a fair bit of litter being left and people cutting down trees for firewood
Maybe a silly question but do the side straps adjust and move. Only asking as I have an Oakley helmet (made by giro) yet the side straps don't move.. just double checking before I purchase one as it looks amazing!
Yeah you can adjust the side straps
Hi - great video. Did you park in Birchover or in the little car park opposite the quarry? I'm wondering if the car park is okay overnight - thanks
Just in the lay by ,but car park will be ok
where can i buy that 1.5 liter kettle?
Try the ray mears bushcraft store
will the black battery cover thing come off if you hit a jump or drop or anything?
No you’ll be fine it’s secured well
@@Wildernessoutside im gonna get this bike but the 2022 version when its out soon do you think it will have a screen on it like this one

I’ve just ordered 51”size,I’m 5’10,that’s not too big is it?
I think the 50 is about your size so 51 will be about right or maybe slightly on the large size in reach department but will still be ok for you
He looks like he is being hunted
😂 just hiding from the wife
@@Wildernessoutside know the feeling
is there a mounting point for a kickstand ..my bike coming Monday cant wait
Do you know I haven’t actually looked 😂😂😂
No , baut „Acid stand „from Cube Van be fitted
@@thomasmeyer8336 Don't think so without the adaptor insert.
oh think that might be the speed performance line didn't know there was a speed verson
I don’t think this motor is the speed line it’s just the performance line but not top of the range cx model ,speed line motors are mainly on touring type bikes
I believe the new bosch performance line motors has been upgraded to 85 nm torque or can be done by firmware upgrade do you know if yours came with 65nm or 85 dont know how you could check this
It’s got 65nm
Think it’s only gen 4 motors that have had the upgrade this motor is a gen 3 motor
may I ask where you brought your bike from .not sure if I should just take the plunge and buy online? was worrying if bike add problems the hassle of getting it sorted.I have a Rutland cycle nearby but they just sold out. should I wait for them to restock or just buy online looking at pure electric
I bought mine direct from haibike but I think there uk distribution is based in Nottingham as ,it’s Raleigh uk that shipped it as they are all under the same brand, didn’t take long to turn up ordered on 7th July and I had it by the 15th
Hi Greg. Are you still looking to purchase? I have one available
Whats the range on the battery please
I’m not sure just yet as so far I’ve only really done 12 mile rides on it ,did a couple rides mainly in tour mode and it only dropped one bar ,I’d say though as an estimate you’ll prob get about 50 miles on tour leaving 1 bar as to not flatten the battery if a bigger battery is needed the hardnine 5 has a 500wh battery ,but personally if your only planning on maybe doing say 25 mile rides you’ll be fine also with the hardnine 4 and 5 the only difference is the battery so my thinking was to save the difference in cost so I can ungrade the forks which are terrible then in a couple years time when the battery is starting to wear invest then in a bigger wh battery
@@Wildernessoutside many thanks for your reply. My work is only 6miles away with a big hill toget to work and one to get home so should be plenty of range for me
@@sailingachilles7810 that's exactly why I bought this bike as my commute is roughly the same ,on tour with a full charge it says I have 56 miles range turbo mode it says 22
@@Wildernessoutside what is the top speed?
What size did you go for how tall are you I am looking at the hardseven
I’m 5’9 and went for a medium ,reach is about right and stand over clearance is ok think small would of been a bit too small ,my height is a bit in between sizes ,my bronson is a medium but with that being 27.5 I have a bit more stand over than with this 29er
@@Wildernessoutside I was looking at medium I am 5'8 but looking at the hard seven think I should be ok. do you think the 400watt battery is going to be enough for mostly trail mode bit of turbo
@@deltafx00 yeah I think the slightly smaller wheel size you’ll be ok ,you’ll understand what I’m on about with the forks ,they really are a weak point of this bike ,but for this price point it can be expected they will save money when it comes with a solid motor and battery combo
@@deltafx00 regarding the battery I think you’ll be ok as I’ve done a few 11,12 mile rides round my local trails and haven’t taken it down past 4 bars on each ride ,tbh I’ve mainly ridden it in tour mode then when needed and extra boost on a steep climb I’ve put it in etmb or turbo mode for the hardest parts ,considering it’s not the most powerful Bosch motor producing only 65nm it’s more than capable
Good video man 👍always up there myself
Cheers fella ,it’s been my local loop for about 30 years

Yeah it’s a beautiful kettle
That's the FIRST TIME I've ever seen anybody declare a justifiable purpose for the two clip rings for holding the bails in a stowed position! Kudos bud! Any idea how much the exchange rate is from Pounds to US$ ?
I’d say with the exchange rate you’ll be maybe looking at about 55/65 US dollars ,I don’t know what your import duty would be but you’d also have to consider any import tax as well if you purchased it from outside of the us
@@Wildernessoutside thank you!
