Glad your train abs directly. My only real suggestion is do exercises that emphasize more the lower abs before the upper abs which will fatigue sooner than the lower abs. Correct form on cable crunches means you keep the ropes in a fixed position so you never move your arms at each rep. I fell in love with cable crunches and for reasons you gave.

@@Live_For_The_Now I'm age 21 and began gymnastics by age 4. I was adopted out of a Ukrainian orphanage and got to come to America Working my abs hard most days helped me cope with stress of being moved to new country and learning English.. I've trained my abs all my life and they are so much fun to train hard. They respond to heavy resistance as you say. It's kind of like compound interest in finance. Once you train them hard for a while they start to grow out and get a lot stronger. And they you're motivated to keep training them harder and harder. I would suggest doing hanging leg raises but make sure you bring your legs up high as you can rotating your hips forward. One day if you can do a lot of hanging leg raises you can add ankle weights. I started those by age 8 and still have those ankle weights. One pro tip--use a lower bar so that your butt is 1-2 inches off the mat. We boys used the lower bar of the girls uneven bar apparatus. From the starting position of your butt barely above the mat do hanging leg raises from that position. OR better, start the hanging leg raise from the L-sit position and keep the ROM to just less than 90°. Both of those pro tips will force the abdominal muscle to do almost all the work of raising your legs. You'll find your lower abs in particular will pop and become hard as rock. I got severely beat up at age 15 and they held me in a full nelson targeting my abs. The way they held me they targeted my lower abs which are lock concrete. It was the hanging leg raises that built such deeply muscled abs. My point--you can really transform your abs into an abdominal wall that will look flexed all the time when fully relaxed. And your abdominal strength will be off the charts. I love your dedication to abs. You'll really bring them out in time.

RUclips promoted this video and thought to subscribe. It somehow knew my conversations about my transitions. I'm age 21 and did gymnastics for 14 years. I began gymnastics by age 4 in Ukraine and later adopted and brought to rural American community. In Ukraine orphanage I was selected at very early age for potential for national gymnastics. But other boys in orphanage hated me for getting to leave for the day and have fun. I would many times come back to a group of older boys who took me to private place and beat me up. I became a very tough little boy. I was rescued by being adopted. When the boys heard I got to be adopted I was badly beat up. I was happy to go to America. But I imagined New York City. They brought to very rural small community. My adoptive parents divorced when I was age 8 or 9 leaving mom and me poor. I coped with stress by exercising and trained my abdominals all the time. It made me strong for gymnastics. But the academy was way more than 1 hour away. I had no friends at school and from almost the beginning I was now being bullied in America. By age 13 my mom had a lot of personal issues and I was more or less raising myself. I found a job on the farm where mom rented a shitty small house and could pay for my gymnastics fees. My mom taught English as a 2nd language in Ukraine and so became my personal tutor. My skills increased being a kid. I did great academically but had no friends. They made false assumptions about my sexuality as a male in gymnastics. And I was shirtless whenever I could be (and shoeless) and was always working out on the outdoor gym playground. I hoped to show fatty American kids what a gymnast is like. But they made fun of me. They told me to go back to where I came from. When I was age 15 I was doing a bar workout by our sports field. It was a very hot summer night and I liked being alone with corn fields and some cows only there. But then a truck drove up and 3 guys came toward me. They were shirtless and in great shape and then I recognized them as being on our baseball and football teams. They were very popular. I thought they would want to work out with me. I was tired from doing pull ups, muscles ups, and a lot of hanging leg raises. But they said they came to beat me up. I took this as life for me. From the orphanage to American schools. They said they wanted to have some fun punching the fuck out of my "gymnast abs." I was wearing only my gym shorts and knew I couldn't run. They were large. I was a great size for a gymnast but I felt very small with them around me. They put me in a full nelson and I contracted my abdominals and then the fists started coming. No gloves. I took the punches really well and that got them a bit too interested in me and why my abs were so hard. I felt as a gymnast I wanted to prove myself. They had too much and took turns beating me up on and off over 30 minutes. They did a great job of beating the shit out of me. They worked over all 4 rows of abs and obliques and even my pecs. But they mostly had fun targeting my abs. I healed up and within a week went into our summer school weight room. I met some wrestlers who already heard about me getting beat up. They were never my friends before but said they wanted to see the damage. I took off my shirt. They were shocked and one guy gave me a big hug. I told them I wanted to add a lot of lean muscle--especially my legs. They became my first friends in America. I got up early and lifted weights with them before school. After school they had wrestling practice and I trained my abs. I got it in my head to build up my capacity to take hard punches. We did a lot of research in how to make this happen. Unfortunately taking punches became an addiction and it made me friends of other athletes. I was eager to keep their friendship so let them do to me what they wanted and rationalized it as just "training." My last 2 years of high school were very hard for me. I moved slowly away from gymnastics as I got a lot more muscular. My legs became very large and muscular--heavy legs and gymnastics do mix. I was training my abs hard daily. After high school graduation I felt that I had been abusing my body too much. Taking hard punches is extremely violent to the body. But it was also violent to my soul. I moved away to be closer to the community college and to find friends who didn't know how I abused my body. Then the pandemic closed it down that March 2020. I struggled with the closures and got into exercising to cope with stress. I finally found a part time job at Menards and that was really helpful to me. That became a full time job and was in building materials department. I started to meet more and more guys in construction who had work with home remodeling as the pandemic was ending. Some guys asked if I'd like to work full time in construction and finally said yes. I've been working for over 2 years full time. I have my 5 year high school reunion coming up in a week. A group of my friends from high school are hosting an exercise challenge for us. I've been training all summer for this stupid challenge. I will be taking punches again (a Best Shot challenge) and doing some endurance abs exercising. I've not seen them in 5 years. Recently I was told I am actually 1 year younger than we were told. I was always smaller than other boys in my grade. Now I know I was 1 year younger than them. Me being smaller made me work harder. Sorry for the long comment. I'm kind of in the situation of thinking about my life as a guy 1 year younger than I thought. There was a lot to do legally to get my birthdate changed. Thanks. I hope your channel will grow.
