I have Kent Armstrong pickups on my 80s Overwater bass from when I lived in the UK. Still use them today here in Montreal, not far from Vermont. Incredible pickups. Huge fan.
Thanks for sending me here Jack
what would be nice is to make duomag microphones again, so many people want them and since the first act custom shop has closed, no microphones can be found. I tell you there is a deal to be had
underrated pickups. I once stumbled into archtop minihum with "Eastman" on top of the cover, which later I found that it's Kent Armstrong product. I buy-sell pickups almost on daily basis, and the pickup supposed to be just another pickup that passing through my shop. but I have this test guitar with P90s on it and I was getting bored, wanting something else. I usually quite "purist" regarding pickup so I'm thinking about making my own vintage-correct Firebird minihum (I also wind pickups). but I was too busy and the guitar need pickups on it. so I just slapped minihum baseplate into the "Eastman" therefore I can installed it into neck position of the guitar. it's already few years, and the pickup is still there 😂 I just keep the pickup because it's goooood 👍
The best bass pickups available in my opinion. I've tried Delano, SD, Barts, Lindy Fralin, Bill Lawrence, DiMarzio etc. I have KA lipsticks in both my jazz basses, the KA hot vintage p alnico in my p-bass and removed the Barts out of my Cort Jeff Berlin Rithimic & installed Kent Armstrong soap bars! All I need now is some Kent Armstrong t-shirts & decals if you have any?
Thank you so much for the kind comments - as it stands at the moment, we don't have any T Shirts unfortunately but we do have a material patch logo here - www.armstrongpickups.com/products/kent-armstrong-material-patch-logo
Thanks for the video. This influenced me to pick the Kent Armstrong jazz pickup over others from Stewmac. Will be adding to my 1920 Gibson L-50
Thank you!
Hi Kent... where i can by a KA4PS set?, Thank you! :D
Hi there! You can contact Kent directly at sales@armstrongpickups.com and he will be able to give you some more details

Can we get a plexi guitar again !!
You sir are a legendary pup maker and I have a q... Will the Kent Armstrong Grinder Super High Output Humbucker Pickup - CHROME, work well in the neck position? Upgrading a beautiful Guild with it. Thx Sir!
Why are you speaking in a near whisper? So you don't feedback?
I've got a tele with an old 60s strat maple neck Tokai body and good old kent Armstrong pickups, ,brilliant stuff. All the best
Still no Armstrong Pickups site
Sorry for the delay with getting the new site live - you can now purchase from Kent in the USA here www.armstrongpickups.com/
Im going to replace my neck humbucker pickup on my Peerless Jazzcity archtop to a Kent Armstrong 57 neck picup now. It will cost about $150 here in Norway. At the same time clean all parts and change strings.
Pete Allen (Guitar Technical Services, West Mids) recommended KA pickups back in 2019. Both the 335 and Les Paul have them fitted now. Glorious. 👏👏👏
Thank you!
Ready to order a Jazzy Joe for my Masterbilt Zenith. Saw it in a video; well done to both, you and Olli!
That's great to hear, thank you
How would you compare your P bass pickups to the Wilde P46 pickup? I know Kent learned a lot from Bill Lawrence. Mad respect for both of you!
Huge Respect
Ha, I went to college with you in St Albans, England Maths I think. Good to see you again man
Doing pick ups right for 50 years. They are the only pickups I recommend to customers.
Love the pick ups. I don't know how many sets of RG Strat pick ups I've installed so far.
My favorite pickups! And I've been playing for 55 years. There is nothing better out there. 👍🏻
A video on MOUNTING the Hot Lips Tube into a Tele Style cavity 🤔🤔
I am a guitar builder and have made about 100 pickups, mostly for my own instruments. I've experimented a lot, alnico, ceramic, neodymium magnets, but also with windings. I've made some innovations on windings, I think you might be interested in. If you are interested, please contact me, thank you very mu
The best pickups! Thanks, Aaron!
A legend indeed, went to him with an idea for coil taped single coils for a telecaster i was building so you could flip between vintage wound and a more modern mid boost type sound. Needless to say Kent came up with the goods and they worked a treat. Kent is one of the genuine nice guys in the biz.
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR SITE???

Great idea! You should link up with That Pedal Show for an interview. I think that would be very cool. They love a good story.
Did you see Mick attempt a pickup change on his 335 😂😂😂
Stumbled into a pawnshop 4 years ago and bought a strat that happened to have 2 of yr humbucker in it. Never looked back, best pickups I've ever played.
Great news. Thank you
I'd love to order from them but they don't respond to any contact.
Oh, sorry to hear that. Please could you reach out to sales@armstrongpickups.com and we will be sure to respond straight away.
Thank you Mr. Armstrong!
Kent, this was a fantastic video with great information straight from a master of his craft. Please know that your work and sharing of experience is much appreciated. I hope you share more videos with us! Thanks- Tom
Great video guys. Long may the Armstrong brand continue !!!
Thank you!
Kent Armstrong and Bill Lawrence are the two best all around pickup makers ever imo I currently am using an original Wilde Bill Lawrence xl 500 and l500 in my sg and it is the most clear articulate set of pickups I have ever used no matter what style I feel like playing I have used the motherbucker numerous times before and I can’t say enough good things about it it really is hard for me to choose between the two
Hi Kent - I doubt you remember me but back in the 80s you made some custom pickups for me for my range of guitars. Sadly I didnt manage to make a living making guitars and went back to engineering. I am retired now and looking forward to making some more guitars. Your pickups are still working perfectly after all these years which proves your manufacturing method really worked. I was sad to hear you moved back to the US but I guess it was inevitable. So pleased to see you are still working hard on the pickups. I only just found your videos and will now search them all out. Best wishes Dave
Hi Dave, thanks for the comments. I passed your message onto Kent and he replied to say thank you and he does remember you.
I remember having the "menu" , with the screamer in it and etc
Yes absolutely. We actually scanned one of those old pickup menus and added it to the About Us page on the armstrongpickups.com website here - www.armstrongpickups.com/about-us-i27 it's about half-way down the page.
@@armstrongmusic thank you, it's a memory of a nice time
Awesome video! Question: What pickup was changed in Jimmy Pages Les Paul. The bridge or the neck? Cheers 👍👍
Thanks! We asked Kent your question and he replied saying "I do not remember which it was as it was so long ago, sorry!"
I can't say enough good things about Kent Armstrong pickups. They sound great. Keep up the great work 👍
Thank you so much!
Tough to repair stupidity!
Hi Kent, been a fan of your work ever since I first heard the Z Plus pickups in an iconic Schecter Tele back in the early 80s. I currently own an 80s Gold Top Schecter Tele with original Z Plus pickups, an early 2000s Roland Ready Stratocaster with your hand wound 61 tapped set installed, and your hand wound custom Rory set in a heavy relic 61 tribute. They are all fantastic! I would love to hear the story behind the concept and development of the Z Plus pickups, as that tone is largely responsible for my life long guitar journey since the mid 80s. Thanks for all of your great work! -pg
Thank you! Science!
Hey, Kent. Could you make a "mixed magnet" high output Humbucker (specifically ceramic and Alnico V)? Like a custom version of the "Super Grinder", either covered or with blades? Thanks!
Hi Joey, Yes, anything’s possible (kind of 😉). If you could send me a direct e-mail to armstrong@vermontel.net I will be able to help you.
Hello Kent, just wondering if you still make the toaster pickups for Rickenbacker's? I have heard about your pickups but don't know much about you or them.
Thank you Kent Armstrong!!! I have several of your pickups in probably a half dozen of my guitars. I’ve never been disappointed with any of them. Thanks again!
I have a set of Kent Armstrong that came in my Eastman T386. Love those pick ups!!!
Thanks for sharing your expertise. Please make more videos!
Hi Kent, great personal-history video. How do I get in touch about a couple of great sets of your pickups that I own? Need advice on the best value pot and caps for them. Plus, I’d like more. They are a custom set.
You can get in touch with Kent directly at his email armstrong@vermontel.net
Excellent I’m sad that I saw this a year later
Also I notice you staggered the screws on this pickup. Ive heard to put the G string higher, after a ton of hunting on forums, but is there an order/ reason to do this?
It’s for balancing the strings and very much down to how you are playing and hearing things, if you think one string is overbearing then lower the screw away from the string, if you think one string isn’t coming through enough then raise the screw towards the string.
Ken, Why do you not have any sound demos of your pickups on YT?
