The original Southern Belle was designed as a free flight towline glider in 1944. I scratch built mine from plans I found on the Outerzone. Altered the design to include a small micro RC receiver. Here it is being flown off a Hi-starts. Flying my newly scratch built Southern Belle glider early one morning. Plane is all balsa construction and weigh in at 58oz with a 3 meter wingspan.

I took the thin wing from a Marks Model Mini Bird of Time and mated it with a modified version of the light weight Icuras V-tail fuselage. This is the video of maiden flight.
