Pianoman 70s style
Добавлен 16 сен 2006
I enjoy posting here songs that something in the piano part stands out to me.
As you can see, my musical taste is quite eclectic.
If it is a piano part and it sounds good to me, I will try to learn to play it, no matter what band or style.
I'm not a serious musician by any stretch (as you can tell), I just play for fun.
The Piano is a Yamaha DGX-505

Feeling Stronger Every Day (Piano Only) Player View
This is the exact same video as the one previously posted except that I now have video editing software which allowed me to correct the problem of having recorded the view upside down.

Can't Get it Out of My Head (Piano Only) ELO Album Eldorado
Просмотров 25 тыс.12 лет назад
I HAVE NO SHEET MUSIC FOR IT! Just the piano part. I've always liked this song. Just picked in out on the piano one day. Well, truthfully, over many days. From the album Eldorado
Imagine - John Lennon (Piano Only)
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.13 лет назад
My first new video in a long time. There's probably a lot of these out there. It took me a while to work out the chords. Sorry, I did not use sheet music, I don't have any for this song.
Questions 67 & 68 - Chicago
Просмотров 11 тыс.15 лет назад
This is the piano part to Questions 67 & 68. Sorry for the mistake toward the end. This sheet music is from Hal Leonard. It is copyrighted. Please do not ask me for free copies. Please buy it from Hal Leonard. I believe this one was from a series called Transcripts. It has the whole score. I just played the keyboard part. I don't mean to sound like the police, but I just don't want any hassles.
The Ace of Swords - Turn of a Friendly Card - Piano Only

Another great song from Turn of the Friendly Card. I picked it out by ear years ago. I don't have sheet music for it. Yamaha DGX-505
Time (Piano) Alan Parsons No Melody
Просмотров 21 тыс.16 лет назад
Thanks Eric Woolfson for this great song. You will be missed. This is the piano part only. No melody. One of my favorite songs from Alan Parsons "Turn of a Friendly Card". One of my all time favorite albums. Came out in 1980. This song somewhat exceeds my skill level so hopefully it's Ok. I searched RUclips to see if anyone else posted it. So far I haven't found any. Yamaha DGX-505
A Velvet Tear - Fresh Aire II
Просмотров 7 тыс.16 лет назад
I've only seen one other version of this song on RUclips, but it's not the whole song. So I figure I'll post mine. Played on a Yamaha DGX-505
Gettin' In Tune (Entwistle Intro) Piano Bass

Very short video. Just the beginning of the song with John Entwistle's bass intro. Played on a Yamaha DGX-505
Mist - Fresh Aire I
Просмотров 27 тыс.16 лет назад
This is a beautiful song. From Fresh Aire I. First of the series of many Fresh Aire albums. Written by Chip Davis. The same person who wrote the 1970's C.B. truck song Convoy. Played on a Yamaha DGX-505
Layla (Piano Ending) More Accurate Version (than my previously posted video)
Просмотров 125 тыс.16 лет назад
I listened to the actual recording before doing this one, so it's more accurate. I played it in the key of C. Feel free to transpose it into C# if you feel the need to play it perfectly accurately. Not saying the playing is any better, it simply follows the song more closely. Sorry, I don't have sheet music for this. I learned to play it by listening to a MIDI file of the song and the original ...
Daydream Believer Longer Version
Просмотров 45 тыс.16 лет назад
This is basically the piano backing track for Daydream Believer as I hear it from the song. I do not have sheet music for it. I picked it out by listening to the track. Played on a Yamaha DGX-505
Feeling Stronger Every Day (Chicago) Piano Only

Another song I learned. There's no melody. You'll have to sing along. Played on a Yamaha DGX-505
Layla (Piano Only Exit)

Layla (Piano Only Exit) My interpretation. Played on a Yamaha DGX-505
Great Gig in the Sky - Pink Floyd
Просмотров 30 тыс.17 лет назад
Another song I enjoy playing. I left the middle part out due to the fact that on piano alone it is the same thing over and over and it gets boring. Played on a Yamaha DGX-505
Very good! Great song! Can't find a drumless version I can play along to on my electric drums...this worked haha...tempo changes made things interesting 😂..thanks!
Thank you for this.I found it very soothing to sing to.
After seeing the Futurama episode where the crew travels to the western city for thalium, I see myself requesting this to the robot pianist while playing shot roulette.
Awesome
Thank you. Btw I have the exact keyboard.
I gave it a go: ruclips.net/video/3wFX2SQ2StQ/видео.html
Sounds great
Hey this really helps- thank you!
FIlmed back when we took videos from our handheld nintendos!
Good job👍
Cool
Excellent! This is the perfect way to do it. I hate when some people play the melody. Congratulations!
Why don't you teach how to play it ? Don't be so selfish amigo

Hello
Hi, what is the name of the preset you are using and the model of your keyboard? Thank you!
Love it - thank you! What an awesome, powerful song.
Thankyou for posting this!
Love it!. I always wondered what the end music from "Goodfellas" was and here I have it. 10 Q.
don't give up the day job
🥰
Puedes por favor subir user song 32 esta en ese piano. Donde song
Sounds great. You may or may not be playing the correct chords, but you don't have to have all of them exactly right to make beautiful music.
Makes a tutorial more slow to learn, The introduction that keys.
TWO GAY NIGGAS KISSING
I thought I recorded in 240p
The lick at the end is supposed to skip a note. It only plays four notes. That’s white key, black key, white key, then skip the next one up and play the whole bar.
If I may, after the part"...'cuz I can't get it out of my head, no no...." , I hear CMaj, CMaj7, C7, then F9, G7 then back to CMaj.
On 34 seconds what are the notes that are being played on the right hand ? Is it F#, B and D ? I really like this version so if anyone can see those notes please let me know.
Cool. Great job. 1st ever on piano that I've heard. I bought the album right after I shelled out $1k for a 1000watt stereo system with two 3foot high speakers. Was raking in the dough the Summer of 1980 at age 16. I got the APP album for just Time & Games People Play. Campbell California, directly across from Westmont Highschool. Music takes on a whole new sound on a 1000watt system. APP's reputation was mind-boggling crisp instrumental sounds. The sounds from Vangelis's songs is the only crisp sound that comes close to APP in my opinion.
Awesome
Nice arrangement Great for karaoke.
Very nice, my piano teacher did the transcription for me once and its very similar. Thanks for sharing!!
Here is the actual story on the who key thing: The piano coda to the song was written in C. Not in C# as some think. It was played and recorded in C a few weeks prior to the rest of the coda - Clapton's guitar and Duane Allman's slide guitar and the rest of the instrumentation. Tom Dowd was then tasked with putting it all together, but the guitar parts were ever so slightly higher pitched, and therefore Tom Dowd was forced to speed the piano part up during the mixing just a bit to get it to match the rest of the piece. It ends up 'sounding' about halfway between C and C#, but it is really and truly in C. When they play the piece in concert they play it in C. Okay? It wasn't for the film. It was recorded that way originally for the album. That should put it to rest.
Thanks for that
Why don’t people refer to C# as D flat? 5 flats seems more normal than 7 sharps?
Thanks so much. I was thinking of this song but could not remember the words or name. I searched fmaj7 with flute ending in Google and your rendition was it. Thank you! It's been bugging me for almost 24 hours haha.
That one dislike must be Roy Wood.......
Marshall Stapp hahahahahaha, sure he was!!
Didn’t he leave and formed ElO part 2
😭😂😂
the piano part is a duet anyways, it was always to be bigger than Jim Gordon, which is why in the studio he first lays down his take of the piano part he co wrote with Rita Coolidge and then Bobby Whitlock lays down his take of it but at a higher octave, Bobby then lays down later a secondary overdub "to give it more kick" in his words. Ji's track was double mic'd so by all means technically its 4 separate piano tracks but on the mixboard is two primary piano tracks and one secondary track, Jim's is noted as Top and Bottom on the track ID chart, Bobby's is called Reinforcement of the Lead if you ever see a copy of the track chart from October of 1970. Eric has two primary guitar tracks, one is a rhythm track that is played very country like, it goes in and out of Carl's bassline, Eric's acoustaic guitar track is played with Bobby's guitar and for the first part of the "back end" is played like a backing guitar, then suddenly its played directly over top of the high piano notes and is much more clearly heard as its right on top of Boby's piano line. Throughout all of this you Bobby playing one my all time favorite Organ tracks, sadly its largely un heard no matter what mix you own but with track removal software you can start to hear it better, for you keyboardists and organists, its a beautiful organ track but again there is a huge differene in mixes, its easy to find the alternate mix commonly titled out of tune here on youtube, then theres a world of difference between how the 20th anniversary edition from 1990 sounds and how the 40th anniversary from 2010 sound. Even the SACD from 2004 alot of the songs sound much different.
By the time you get done listening to the way Bobby Whitlock tells the story you'd think that Whitlock and Rita Coolidge wrote the whole damn piece and Jim Gordon was the thief who stole it and took credit for it. Whitlock says he contributed this to the piece, that to the piece, then in the end he slams the piece claiming it had nothing to do with rock music, and he has no idea why the piece was ever used because "it's not rock". Then he went on to say that Duane Almond's contributions the Album were also not needed. Apparently Whitlock didn't have any objections to Gordon getting a co-writing credit for the song. Since Whitlock and Clapton were close friends and band mates, I have no idea why Whitlock didn't tell Clapton who should have gotten the writing credit for the Layla piano coda. As one of the most recognizable Piano pieces in rock music, I have to wonder if perhaps Bobby Whitlock wasn't a bit jealous of drummer Jim Gordon. I've heard in different interviews over the years that Jim Gordon was working on the piece while in the studio ALONE, one day Eric heard Gordon run through it, he complimented Gordon on it and asked to use it. Gordon was planing to use it for a solo effort he was working on. Layla Producer Tom Dowd mentioned that during rehearsal sessions for Derek and the Domino's, he could hear Gordon progressing on what would be known as Layla's piano coda, as the band took breaks. It seems like since Jim Gordon became incarcerated and unable to speak up for himself, certain people enjoy kicking him while he's down.
Great job! Thanks!
Thanks man! Gonna help a lot.
Very hot. Sounds awesome.
this song sounds a lot like Barry Manalow's Can't smile without you
ROCK ON
AWESOME :D
Oh My god man, that's incredible! Do you have the chords?
Hello Pianoman, I saw you at Vika's site and thought I'd give you a listen. I LOVE Jeff Lynne and ELO, so this one caught my eye. Nice accompaniment and played very smoothly. Have a great night :-) ~Jackie
Thanks for this! Gee, someones asked you to fill in the instrumental bit but that part may sound even better sparsed down.
that looks very hard to do, you done good. great job.
Brilliant, but would it be possible that you could workout the Piano Riff that fits over the instrumental just after the 2nd chorus and post it on here please ?
Many Thanks for the rendition of Time". I have tried to find the "Correct" Chords on the Net, So many errors. This Song with all it's subtle changes needs really to be analysed. There is always some sort of Logic to the construction...but first you must find the key to open that door. Your clear playing gave me my answers (well most of them ). I play this song on Guitar with Capo on the 3rd Fret. This make my rain have to work even more. As to the Vocals ...well that's another challenge.
Terry Wrann please visit my channel to "clear this door". I did it on acoustic guitar
woooooow amazing
