While Subaru previously said the gas-fed WRX STI is dead, it appears the company has had a change of heart. The Japanese automaker's STI performance division today revealed the S210 prototype ahead of the Tokyo auto show. It's the first full-blown STI model since the WRX entered its third generation for the 2022 model year, although a manual transmission is notably missing.
Instead, the WRX STI S210 features a specially tuned Subaru Performance Transmission, which is really just a fancy name for its continuously variable automatic (CVT).
