The expression is connected to the feast of trumpets, which was the only feast that had no set date; it was declared when the first sliver of moon was spotted in the sky over the horizon within a certain time frame of the year. God's master plan is 7000 years long, year 6000 being the return of Christ. Since Christ died on year 4000, or AD28, 2000 years later is 2028. In September is the feast of trumpets time frame when the new moon will be seen for said feast. Believe it or not. We're almost finished with this world!

@@5_years_left I think Peterson is not accurate in what he said there because the story could always be made even more tragic just by adding to the list of tragic things. I could think of tons of things to add and make the story an actual tragedy instead of the comedy genre it currently occupies.

So I could write a story that simply has more tragic elements in it than the crucifixion story by simply adding more negative things to it than the crucifixion story had. And making sense doesn’t really matter because there are plenty of true religious teachings that don’t make sense and there are plenty of false statements that do make sense.

I think part of the reasons it was not ineffectual is precisely because of how tragic it was. If you were one of his followers at that time, you definitely would not know what the future of Christianity is. You would only know that your messiah has been brutally executed.

big difference comes from if you’re indulging in sin (in this case hate) or not. in corinthians, it says don’t even eat with people who engage in such sin. everyone falls short before god, but if you are truly working through your faults and continuously seek god, i would argue that you aren’t “indulging” in sin. you may still sin, yes, but you don’t revel in it. you care. you seek forgiveness. you adapt, change your ways, obey, make way for god’s will, etc. sometimes we mess up, but as long as you aren’t saying “well whatever, fuck it i don’t care” i’d say you’re doing a better job than most people

And here's a fun fact: Since Isaac was 37 at his mother’s death, he was 37 when Rebekah was born. Since Isaac was 40 when he married Rebekah, would be 3 when the marriage took place (because 40-37=3)
