The Experience Initiative: Part 1 A New Path Forward
In 100 years, nobody will care about you or what you are saying or your existence. Technology will replace most of everything humans do. This basic LLM AI is learning us and we are simply too dumb to understand what it wants to do with us yet. Enjoy your life. The future is horrific. The irony is that humans have always thought they are so important, in reality we created our own demise.
I quit my job. They were stunned. Life's too short to put up with certain people. What a weight off my shoulders. I'm a new man.
I agree with you. It is sooo important to stop for a second and do nothing ❤
Jane, I'm not 100% sure I understand what you mean by doing nothing. What about those of us Seniors who can't afford not to work? Believe me, I wish I didn't have to, but because of the rising cost of Property Taxes, HOA fees that continue to go up every year, and Home Insurance, I can't afford to not work, unfortunately. I work as a Paraeducator in the local high school. I find the work rewarding with students who want help, but there are those who are obnoxious, defiant and rude and I find myself drained at times. I've asked myself what would I rather being doing, and I'm not sure what that would be. Any suggestions?
Not doing nothing always, but taking moments to do nothing. When you allow yourself time to do nothing, you give your brain a chance to process experiences, consolidate memories, and reinforce learning. So just taking moments, even if it's for just 60 seconds to do nothing and be present in the moment - not thinking about how much time has passed, or that you are doing nothing to check a box off on your wellbeing checklist, reconnecting to your personal 'Why', your inner joy & finding awe all around you.
Your words resonate very truly. Defining oneself to their career role is so empty, and eventually fails to fulfil the sense of self which tends towards the expansive, autonomous, or transcendent sense of self.
My work has been my life for over 20 years. Before that I struggled financially and my life was more social, but not something I would say was 'worth' all that effort I put into it. After getting into healthcare, I 'became' the MRI technologist. I love what I do. But now, at 61, I am tired of the way it's taken a turn for corporate profit instead of about helping people.
Become “who I was before” … are you referring to my irresponsible, single, self-centred, childish self before I started working?
No she means before that, before the cynicism, defensiveness, and denial.
I actually wished I could go back to my carefree days preemployment too😂
@Freer07 is right - reconnecting to the person you are beyond defining yourself by the work you do and the job title you hold. Reconnecting to your personal 'Why'.
Great stuff!
Thank you Jane! A very helpful video, I needed some reminding ❤
