Im not going to lie, I have glimpses of the night haha. I went ham. I only go have 3-4 times a year and that was worth the ham. Nothing but happy people. Thank you Joe and Chris!!
Thank you, Coach Kelly! I’m getting better with my self-talk! I would never talk to someone the way I talk to myself at times. I have room to grow, but that’s why I like CrossFit! I get to challenge myself in new ways. I also celebrate my achievements. I’ve started to try new things at the gym. I’m also setting some goals for myself! (Including 10 double unders unbroken this week and a steady increase from there!) I love learning new things about the amazing, inspiring people in this community! Those connections are always so special to me.
@@LiveItUpk yes! I love the attention to how we talk to ourselves! I think it’s so important! I think one reason I’ve stuck with CrossFit longer than any other activity is there is so much room to grow. 10 dubs is a great goal! It’s a skill, so just consistent time with your rope is key. Block is lucky to have to and your generous spirit! I’m glad we found each other. ❤️ -Coach Kelly
this series has been so interesting. I didn't realize that people think so much and so differently about food. thanks for the work you put into this Kelly!
Yes! I think some people who are eat more intuitively naturally don’t realize how much space food can take up in our brains! 😂 And maybe for naturally intuitive eaters it can help with understand and being compassionate with others 😊
You’re a great example of hard work and discipline. I’ve had some teachers in the past who were far removed from what they were teaching … lol … but you’re right there in the thick of it with all of us in this wonderful community and that’s really awesome! Excellent point. What’s the sense in doing all the hard work and not enjoying the birthday cake, pizza, ice cream, donuts (boy, I’m hungry!), etc.?! Thank you for sharing your story.
Coach Kelly: -I love stories! Keep ‘em coming! -I’ve heard that sometimes hunger means thirst? -I get hunger pangs when I’m hungry (I also get hangry - just kidding 😂). I’m going to try the worksheet. -I’m an emotional eater for sure! Many times I grab something to munch on because I’m bored or trying to stay up to work on stuff.
I have heard to that thirst can be mistaken for hunger. I’m not sure I’ve experienced that personally. Have you? Sometimes my hunger actually feels like being nauseated! Which can be so confusing!! Checking in with hunger levels before eating can help with some of that distracted/bored eating. Give it a try and see what happens!

Hi Coach Kelly! Thank you for the information you shared here! My relationship with food lately has been a restrictive one for health reasons. I follow a doctor who was able to reverse her autoimmune condition (lupus) with diet! I’ve had an autoimmune condition (alopecia areata)for around seven years. I thought I’d try her recommendations, one being eating a pound of greens a day! I haven’t made it to a pound yet. I know there are other factors: sleep, stress, environmental factors, etc. that impact these types of conditions.
Kelly here-I have been on restrictive diets for health reasons too! I have a neurological chronic pain condition that really responds to being in ketosis. I was on the keto diet for years which is very restrictive! I now can listen to my body, and if I need to get into ketosis to get pain in check I can do so pretty easily. Only now I can do it without feeling all the emotional baggage that can come along with it or the fear of food. I know its a tool I can use to feel better. Many of the mental and emotional shifts around food can still be done even if you are on a diet for a health reason :) Thank you for sharing!
@@blockcrossfit4752 Ahh … ketosis and autophagy are two words I’m seeing a lot as I look into how to possibly help my condition. Thank you for sharing. I’m trying to learn how to listen to my body and hopefully heal whatever is broken.
I second the “Woot woot” from @blockcrossfit4752! I’m excited about the challenge and learning more about intuitive eating. I’ve been thinking about my diet a lot more lately. And congratulations on the Lululemon partnership, Coach Joe!! 🎉 That’s so exciting!!
I’m super excited too Coach Kelly! I’m joining the challenge! Thank you for sharing this info with us! Quick question: Does intuitive eating tie in with intermittent fasting?
Hi! coach Kelly here- We have to be curious about any restrictive eating patterns. Sometimes people go into intermittent fasting with weightloss goals, or sometimes the restriction (like any restriction) can actually cause more food fixation or overeating later. That being said, intermittent fasting can be great for autophagy and long term health. Most days I have at least a 15 hour fasting window. Unless I'm feeling particularly hungry -then I eat! Intuitive eating is about finding ways of eating that work for you, make you feel good and help you meet your goals in a healthy long term way. We just have to be honest about the "why". And while it might not be something I recommend if someone is at the beginning of healing an unhealthy relationship with food, it can absolutely work. Thank you for the question!
Congratulations to all of the quarter finalists!! 🎉 I’ve seen all your names on the board at the gym!! You all inspire me!! (#goals) This year was my first Open, so who knows, I may be a quarter finalist in the future?! That would be awesome!! I’ve never used a weighted vest before. I’ve seen members use them during runs, and I’ll be training for a marathon soon. Would the weighted vest help with my endurance? Also, what are some other workouts where the weighted vest could be used?
Thank you Coach Joe for answering my question! Love all the 🔥 designs and looking forward to my “Squat Guy” shirt! 🙌🏽 I was wearing one of my Block sweatshirts last weekend and a lady saw me, who’s also a member, and it was like we were long lost friends! I’m thankful for this CrossFit journey and looking forward to growing and learning with everyone! I’m excited about the nutrition challenge, day in the life, etc.! Let’s goooo!! Whoot!! Whoot!! 🙌🏽😃💪🏽
Thanks Joe for addressing my million questions 😅😂 the information given is super useful ! I track my macros Daily even tho my meals rarely ever change , I’m good with having the same thing repeatedly 🤷🏽♀️
Me too! I’m totally good with eating the same thing everyday! Thank you for asking this question! I, too, have wondered about macros and how it all works!
Coach Joe, I was wondering how you came up with the designs for your merch? If there was a story behind your designs? The signature series featuring Jessica’s designs is such a fun one! Way to go, Jessica! 🙌🏽 I love all those designs! 🤩
Intuitive eating was the best thing my wife ever discovered. Changed her life honestly. I need to consider it more for myself. It's completely changed her life and outlook on food. She inspires me so much. Also, can we get a freaking kick ball day? haha!
Thanks, Joe. I also love nutrition and have recently dialed it in to improve my performance (especially around and during training time). I know many members are also trying to eat better as we’re now also heading into spring and summer and wanting to look better :) Any thoughts of limiting sweet treats in the gym to special occasions? I don’t want to seem ungrateful as I know some members are fantastic bakers and their goodies are delicious, just a suggestion about limiting them to special occasions 🤷🏼♀️ Also big shoutout to all (I think around 40!) members who qualified for Quarterfinals!
