A Maytag washer that’s noisy in spin | bad bearing in gearcase and slider change | MVWB865GW0
👍Thanks for watching!❤️
Got in this Maytag “commercial technology” unit and I was hoping for just a little slider change but when I spun it up it had the “freight train” rumble to it. So we change the gear case and the slider and run diagnostic and code. Now it works great. DIY at your own risk. #washingmachinerepair #washingmachine #diy #maytagwasher #whirlpoolwashingmachine

And I've been around here almost from the beginning of RUclips. Question - only if you get the time to reply. I saw some of your stuff regarding Maytag. We always thought Maytag was a #1 company. Our fridge, dishwasher, and washer/dryer all all Maytag. But we had a bad problem with the Maytag oven we had to get replaced. It was only 3 years old, still under warranty when it died. @@booandsue 100% without a doubt. Thanks for watching
Sweet. Nice machine. Most washing machines started going downhill in the mid to late 1980's. These water deficiant front loaders, and the crappy useless wash plate type top loaders just don't cut the mustard. Too much wasted time sensing and idle time, and the weird slow agitation of the machines that still have an agitator. The older machines are much better, and at least get your laundry done in 30 to 35 minutes, and are clean when the cycle is over.
@@booandsue 100% facts here. The new machines barely rinse so the dirt stays in the units. I literally have to clean the drums after a test cycle if the blankets have too much dirt on them. Crazy! Thanks you for watching
I have the same model and leave the clothes wet. My washing machine shows failure codes 19,26,27 and 31, we alredy change that sensor and the suspension rod but clothes still wet, I don't know what to do please help my with any sugestion
@@stephaniedubon7971 if there is any oil on the the belt I would clean the pulleys and put a new one on just for the heck of it. Belts aren’t expensive either. Those off balance codes could be coming from that too. That’s a tricky one there.
What specific part number is this? Or do you have a link to where I could purchase one?
@@Therring_5 I don’t have a link. But the actuator I keep is the w10006355 because it will fit the older red one and the newer black one in most cases. But look up your model number to see which specific one you need.

heavy freakin duty Maytag used to be. Anytime you find one of these, grab it! Great video, thanks!
No doubt. Always try to fix the old ones because the new units wont last like an old one. Thanks for watching
Nobody built a more rugged washer than Maytag did (helical models only, not the junk Maytag bought in the 80's/90's/2000's) through the mid 90's (yeah, they ran through 2006 but things got a little cheap towards the end). The direct drive Whirlpools are easier to work on but require more work to keep going. The belts in a Maytag will last 2+ time longer than a motor coupler and are easier to replace. The pumps and motors outlast the machine 95% of the time. No friggen agitator dogs to fail. No plastic neutral drain kits to fail. No clutch in a Maytag to fail, that's all done through the drive belt and spring loaded motor carriage. They out rinsed the direct drive models several times over until 1994. Spin drain keeps the inner/outer tubs cleaner and better at getting sand/dirt out of the tub. The lint filter used from the early 1960's through the early 90's works extremely well for pet hair. Not a huge fan of the orbital transmission (July 1989-2006) but it's a thousand times better than anything today. The old guys are correct about running the machine through the spin cycle before washing. This breaks the carbon seal in on the stem and boot. I was told to run 2 full spin cycles by a repairman who worked at a Maytag dealer since 1962. He was full of wisdom and tricks on these great old washers.
@@muziklvr7776 you hit it on all cylinders there 100% FACTS.
@@muziklvr7776 yes that’s what LAappliance pops said about the seal on the stem rubbing together.
I've tried to get the codes, but no matter how many times I hold the on button and turn the knob 7 times, it doesn't work. The machine just starts on whatever setting it lands on.
@@SequoiaKC maybe it’s different. Are you holding “power on” or start. It has to be start. Did you find the tech newspaper under the bottom?

I keep our 1967 Maytag (came with the trailer our parents gave us when we got married. Not in 1967.) up and running. When Whirlpool bought Maytag I knew what would happen (electrician, been down this road many-a-time) so I ordered all the parts to do two complete overhauls. Well, that was 2005 and we're still running on the overhaul my husband and I did in 1997.... Real Maytag cleaned well, ran well, lasted forever and was repairable. Might as well by an Amana or Roper or Estate today instead of wasting your money on a 'Maytag', they're all the same junk inside.
