How to Make Cement Paint-Fixing Steps & Statues; Patch While Painting #thriftflip

Restore Wood with Artist Oil Paint, #diyprojects

Artist oil paints work great outdoors for wood restoration and bright colors. Oil paints cost more per square foot than latex or acrylic, but they do not peel - instead, they penetrate and condition the wood. Very cool
❤
Thats a really good idea. Thanks Stephie. I use chain outside a lot and never thought of using it like this. I always shop hardware stores and some of them have several color options including black and white and different link sizes too. ❤
Ohhhh what wonderful information 👏👏👏 thank you for sharing! ❤️😀
This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Will be using this technique to make my painted brick fireplace look like natural brick again instead of stripping the paint.
Excellent video ,i never thought of painting and waxing leaves, now i can enjoy them for longer,Thank you for sharing.
Are there coatings you can use to look like stone or brick on concrete walkways that are durable enough to hold up through snow and snow shovelling?
Yes, you can paint your walkways with acrylic bonding medium and then paint the stone or brick design with a thin coat of tinted cement (you can add a little of the bonding medium to that too). You can tint the cement red with powders made for that, or use black with a touch of brown/red for stones.
Great video, thank you!
I love this idea! Thank you for sharing!
wow this is amazing 🤍
I love your videos 🤍
Such fun ideas and easy too. You two come up with some of the best ideas.
My mother always used Aquanet hairspray. I can’t believe I remembered that detail.
Ty I will try this
I love this idea! Great video! Ty
I love it. I have been hoarding spindles from a Jenny Lind bed. This gave me so many ideas! Thank you!
Beautiful
What a fun idea! I was thinking how sponging som green mossy paint colors in areas would also help give it that "been here for a while" look. Great job Stephie. ❤
I got some cattails to make an arrangement for a friend's baby shower and they looked amazing. But 9 days later, the seeds began to explode. I spray painted some with Design Master Rose Gold. But I had to throw them away to avoid a disaster at home. It was very sad to have to do that because they looked pretty.
These are such wonderful trees, and yours is quite a lovely specimen. I can just imagine all the colors of its leaves, especially as they are backlit by the sun. There are so many cultivated varieties in nurseries today. Who knows, it's possible the seedlings your followers grow might end up being a whole new variety! Tha6 would be so cool, and its possible because of to their genetic diversity. Chance seedlings have historically are one source of new varieties. Back when I was researching plants for a local historical site, I learned the Japanese Maples had been cultivated here in Oregon for over a century. Maples like your Acer japonicum tend to reseed readily here in NW Oregon and western Washington, so your followers from out this way should be able to find seedlings pretty easily. The ripe seeds germinate best if they go through a cold period (stratification) for sevetal weeks, like they would naturally experience during our winters here or in Japan. They are forest trees, so having that lovely loamy soil with a good amount of organic matter can help. A good way to get actual forest floor soil for propagation can be by asking permission from private land owners. Japanese Maples also prefer a slightly acidic soil in order to thrive. ...... One more nerdy tip... Their seeds are edible, so when you're out foraging for seed, try gathering some to take home and roast as well.
I'm so glad you posted this info, Patty! This is really helpful!
Sorry you're having a crush of lantern flies this year. Our state in alerting people but we haven't had many so far thankfully. Tgis us goid info for when anyone does see them here. Its good to know they drown so easily in just water but wonder if thats true when they are in their mature state and can fly. With the brown. Marmotated stink bugs we have add soap to the water before they drown. The other way was to use a killing jar and go out a few times a day and collect them off the bean trellis and other plants.
Good to know about the soap in case water alone doesn't drown the adults. Believe it or not, I had good luck spraying them with 'Windex' last year. Seemed to put them in a frantic death spiral. Reminded me of the movie "Big Fat Greek Wedding" where the dad says Windex cures everything, lol!
Totally cool ideas. How creative.
Do you think this could work for a wicker planter that stays outside? It's in a covered area that is somewhat sheltered. I plan to use it for a little herb garden on the patio and I'd love to try this technique. The planter currently looks very similar to your chair when you first got it for $5!
Yes, absolutely it will work on your planter. The chalk paint mixed with the wax will stick to the old paint job. You can paint the chalk paint and wax in two separate layers, but it's faster to mix paint and wax first and will give the wicker a soft sheen as if it were newer wicker. The toothbrush will make the job go much faster too.
What an awesome idea! Love this!✨💞✨
Does the bag eventually break down?
Yes, it does. By that time the plants are much bigger and fight the weeds naturally.
@@LoveForACountryHouse thank you
Loved this video!! Great ideas. I'm thinking of using cardboard boxes, but bags sounds great also!
I wondered if you were using Pēbo paints. I'd seen other things used by crafters that just didn’t look as nice as yours do. Those are lovely ❤ Pēbo has such a fun line of products and its nice it's easy to find. I cant wait to see the full window project now.
Too cute! Thanks for sharing!
What a super idea, I am going to pass this onto my mom,,, she will love it Thankyou x
This is awesome. Thank you!

Cute.
Painting is definitely above my skill level. I love the fish because I’m all about coastal.
I love this! Will be using it in a greenhouse. Thanks for sharing. Jane
I like this a lot. Are these put in oven to make the paints permanent or are they sealed with a spray?
This particular Pébéo Vitrail paint doesn't need baking. It's permanent and doesn't need a sealer. We use it on the bottom of the plates and clean them very gently with a cloth, if needed. Pébéo makes a Vitrea paint for ceramics that DOES need baking in a slow oven to make it durable. But the transparent paint doesn't need it. - Stephie
Thank you@@LoveForACountryHouse
Wonderful idea. I have massive windows in this mfg home and something like this would definitely help.
Not sure how I messed this up... Followed you procedure to the letter and was very happy with the look... Until the first rain.. Then they were back to their original color...
I'm sure it wasn't anything you did. It sounds like the sealer wasn't standing up to rain. Sometimes sealers are short lived. But good news. Since our color only lasted a few seasons, we're doing a new formula using artist's oil paints and linseed oil. We've started using this outdoors and it still looks bright after two seasons. It's compatible with concrete. We'll post a link on this video when we've used it on the pavers and the new formula is published on RUclips.
Great job! Carpenter bees have made holes under my eves on our porch railings
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
Very beautiful!
Awesome!!!!
Beautiful, and better yet I have some of the tubing. I know what my next project will be. Thank you for sharing.
Huh...you come up with such great recipes for painting. He is pretty cute with the mossy color in his hair too.
Thank you, Patty. This was a good discovery, this paint.
Last year I was experimenting but with Grey for a wall and added about a 1% copper sulphate crystals to prevent the mold I had pressure washed off as per Chat GPT suggestion. So far so good , no mold, but might cause blue tinge if used with white cement.
Just such a beautiful, thoughtful video, Stephie, I keep returning. How is the lead holding up? I don't know anything about grid paper or where to buy it. Thanks again!
Hi, SGL, thank you so much for the feedback. The lead window is still like new. We have it on a covered porch so it never gets wet or baked in the sun, so that might be why it's still like new. Stores that have school supplies might have the grid/graph paper. This is an example of a large tablet (but you can still tape sheets together before starting) on Amazon: amzn.to/3SQIosb
