Welcome to my RUclips Channel! I'm a miniature painter who has been in the hobby for almost 30 years now and this channel is probably long overdue. In the videos I add, I'll try to cover a range of subjects and items from product unboxings through to painting tutorials.
I don't paint or hobby for a living so *don't* have a Patreon, donation pot, affiliate link or other such money raising facility. I'm doing this because I want to, not to keep a roof over my head. If you do enjoy what I put up then a like or comment would be absolutely great!

Necromunda Bases - featuring Dirty Down Rust
After far too long a break, I've put together what's turned out to be a pretty long video on how I've been painting my Necromunda bases.
Within the video I cover using the airbrush to get down base colours, pin washes using flow aid, sponge weathering, streaking grime and the "new kid on the block", dirty down rust - all applied in a fairly controlled an accurate manner.
All of the techniques I cover can easily be applied to scenery or Zone Mortalis tiles too.
Paints Used:
Citadel Skavenblight Dinge
Citadel Sons of Horus Green
Citadel Standard Macharius Grey
Citadel Dawnstone
Scale 75 Black Metal
Scale 75 Heavy Metal
Vallejo Streaking Grime
Dirty Down Rust

Necromunda Bigger Rooms - Zone Mortalis kit bash / conversion
Просмотров 8 тыс.3 года назад
In this video I put kit bash together a medium sized room, using the Zone Mortalis Columns and Walls kit, some plasti-card and a bit of accurate measuring and cutting. This room is big enough to use as the basis for a number of scenery pieces such as rogue doc shops or Wild Snake bars. I cover a few fundamental items such as using an engineers square and scriber to accurately mark pieces to cut...
Necromunda Food / Kebab Shack - Zone Mortalis kit bash / conversion
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.3 года назад
In this video I kit bash/convert one of the Zone Mortalis column pieces into a little Food / Kebab Shack. This is a great way of adding in some additional flavour to your games of Necromuda and a lovely way to use up some of those random bits you'll have collected in boxes over the years! This idea originally came from Johnathan Hartman @shibboleth02 ( shibboleth02) with his fantas...
Product Review - Paint Blitzer (Unto the Breach), stripping Warhammer Miniatures
Просмотров 8603 года назад
In this video, I review Paint Blitzer by Unto the Breach Hobbies and attempt to strip a miniature to see what the product is like. I do need to make one disclaimer in that I didn't realise there was a set of FAQs (untothebreachhobbies.com/paint-blitzer-faq/) on the Unto the Breach website, so didn't realise that you should only leave resin miniatures in Paint Blitzer for 30 minutes. This ultima...

Unboxing the Cult of Paint Harder & Steenbeck Infinity Airbush
Просмотров 7 тыс.5 лет назад
In this (my first RUclips video), I unbox a Cult of Paint spec'd Harder & Steenbeck Infinity Airbrush from a recent Cult of Paint Kickstarter. I go over initial impressions of the airbrush plus the extras that I got with the Kickstarter.
Planning to pick up KO as my first AoS faction and stumbled across your video. Not sure if you ever finished or are still active on RUclips but I loved what you have done so far and loved the reveal!
Hi, which Needle and what Pressure are You using? Your Paint seems to last forever. And Your Brushcontrol is really good. Pretty results.
Hi, sorry for the late reply. My infinity has a 0.4mm nozzle and I generally run between 15 and 20psi when I'm doing miniatures and put down multiple very thin layers and build up. I'm currently painting up some MDF necromunda style tiles and using it at 35psi and much more like a spray gun - paint doesn't last anywhere near as long 😆
Brilliant!...It would be awesome to see stairs from the room going up to higher level platforms.
Are you still using this airbrush? Still recommend it?
I am indeed. It's proving to be a great brush for most things. I still use my old Iwata HP-C for anything heavily chemical based as this one uses rubber seals and the HP-C doesn't.
how would you rate this brush up against the Giraldez version?
They're basically the same brush but with different nozzle sizes. Personally I prefer the 0.4mm nozzle this brush has with the heavy bodied acrylics that I use is less prone to clogging, however there's pro's and con's with both. The nice bit is as they're both H&S Infinity's you can pick up a nozzle and needle in the "other" size and just change them out as you need to.
Very good and helpful review. As someone who is new to hobby miniature painting, I find this a boon of help as I'm sure I will need plenty of practice. And one things for sure, 40k ain't cheap. 🙏🏽 from India
Great video! Thanks for sharing 👍✌️😊 How are you getting on with this version of the Infinity a few years on🤔 I've the standard Infinity and Evolution, I'm pleased with them but I understand that there's a new needle packing seal system and a newer button/mechanism to improve on better paint flow/bite point etc?🤔😊
I'm still getting on really well thanks. Not had any major dilemmas and still a very comfortable brush to use. Have replaced the nozzle seal once - probably the one point that I'd say is the weakest on the brush as you don't want to over tighten, but risk not a solid seal. That's interesting on the new packing seal system - I'll have to investigate to see if it can be installed into an older brush!
@@RuneBrush Hi, thanks, good to know. I'm not sure if the new packing seal and triggers can be retro fitted as they're used on the "short nosed" special edition. But it seems a sound concept that would make standard H&S Infinity's much better, flawless in fact if such could be retro fitted👍✌️🤞😊
Great video mate. I know this is a bit of an older video but I was wondering how the Aluminium body and black finish are holding up. I love the look of the Cult of Pain edition but not sure if it is robust enough for the price. Thanks in advance.
Hiya! Sorry about the delay - don't seem to be getting notifications for some reason! Body is holding up pretty well. Have had to replace some of the seals but other than that, can't really fault the build quality
Love the final result. I wanted to ask where you got the base plate with the grid pattern?
Your best bet is to search for "Tread Plate Plasticard" and go from there. This piece I've had in a box for well over a decade so not sure it's original origin!
@@RuneBrush ta very much, seems safer than metal mesh I've been recommended before
Love this review! Question - does any air cable work with this? or is it a specific size on the airbrush that means you need to correct cable? Thanks
Really sorry for the late reply (yeah that's an understatement). Yes, any cable that fits the thread of the brush will work - there are converters though for different threads.
@@RuneBrush Thanks for the reply! I’ve owned my COP infinity for a year now and I’ve done so much with it 🤣 My latest being the 4th edition Tau desert camo on their vehicles, looks so good!!
Fantastic! What a great idea and conversion. Thank you so much for awesome video’s using Necromunda sets!
ρ尺oΜ𝐎ᔕᗰ 😬
always love seeing how creative the Necromunda community is, amazing stuff!
Thanks! I think Necromunda is great as there's so many different facets to tap into :)
Thank you for the tutorail, sadly dirty down rust seem to react with most varnishes -as i seen in other videos- Im still looking for a proper way to seal them. Although in other videos they did use waaay more rust.
I'd not heard that - I'll have to experiment with some bits I've got here, I'm hoping pigment fixer could work.
Great tutorial! love that scheme
Thank you! I've done numerous different bases over the years, but most happy with this one now. Neutral but with a bit of colour in
Great tutorial Runebrush. Loads of insightful hints and tips in there and I love the end product. Cheers!
Thanks! It ended up a lot longer than I realised as I was trying to get in loads of little tips - glad you enjoyed!
I recently got "gifted" one ex-gamers lifetime collection of Robogear and old Ral Partha scenery kits, still in the boxes, so am now looking at what was his "pile of shame" and overflowing with ideas as to how to build/paint/use these amazing kits for my own pleasure. I've just recently played my first ever game of Kill Team, and my first ever game of the new Necromunda, so am pretty excited as to which game I'll take on board for myself (I remember the old Dark Future game that later became Necromunda in the 1990's, so I tend toward favouring skirmish level games, with LOTS of lovely scenery/terrain to fight over), and how I set about making the scenery fit the game I decide to start collecting/playing. I love your videos, as they are always inspiring, with ideas flowing out from the screen and into my brain, and your use of engineering tools to help with model making is always interesting, as I'm an ex-engineer myself, and still find a use for my old tools when I'm building something :-)
Glad you're enjoying the videos. That sounds like a great gift there too - am sure that with a bit of engineering thinking you'll created some lovely pieces for your tabletop
Thanks for this amazing video, i just ordered my first box of necromunda because it just looks so cool. I am a kill team player but as a veteran who played a lot of GorkaMorka i am very interested in this story/campaign driven game play where i can go nuts. Am i allowed to mix up a gang and make it my own but ofcourse i will choose a "house" as my primary or is that now allowed?
Dremel is king in these conversions.. 😉
You could also add a platform around it, then have the room as a fighting pit, with spectators above! Just a thought.
Absolutely - loads of room for ideas. This one actually got made into a bar :D
I'm curious if it's just isopropyl alcohol, either way you should be wearing rubber gloves when using ANY paint stripper.
Sorry about the delay in reply - YT didn't notify me of any comments! There's no alcohol content to this stripper at all. If anything it's more akin to Biostrip
It's Benzyl Alcohol. @@RuneBrush
A great video. I just ordered one from Element, and a non-affiliated review was exactly what I wish I'd seen before buying it, but even after the fact it still instilled confidence in the purchase. I know I'm 3 years and some change late, but: the bog standard water didn't come through on the vid (though it's a good test, maybe on colored tissue paper it'd work.). Also, I understand the reluctance for free form experimentation in a review. A possible solution: a few pseudo-scientific tests, comparing subjective things like thinnest line you can manage, highest flow, or whatever is important to you. Establish a baseline with a tool you know, then attempt to duplicate the input to analyze the resultant output, and if that doesn't match, maybe dig a little further for the input required to achieve the initial output. I will be subscribing now, and I hope there's more hobby awesomeness!
Sorry about the delay in reply - YT didn't notify me of any comments! Thanks for the comments and hope you're getting on well with your airbrush? Hopefully my newer videos should start to improve in quality overall as I've just redone all my camera set up and have additional monitors so I can actually see what I'm doing!
Great video! I love your tutorial on painting. Wonderful paint job on the titans. 👍 We follow you now, and hope to be friends! 💖
Can you re use it again if you save the solution in a different container???
Sorry about the delay in replying. Yes, you can reuse it until it gets really manky and discoloured
Great ideas 👍 I'd omit the filling if plasti card is going to be used anyway.
I tend to fill as I'm quite OCD about gaps and the plasticard doesn't cover everything. It's completely personal choice though!
That was an AMAZING tutorial/concept for Necromunda Terrain. Im going to utalize this in my Space Hulk Diorama for my salamanders army. Ty so much!
Ah! This looks amazing! I just got Hive War so I might have to give this a go...
Just discovered your channel and was wondering if we can expect any more videos?
... because I liked them very much so far :)
Thanks. Hopefully yes! I'm just uploading one on painting bases. The real world has sadly reared it's head so have basically just had less time to do videos :)
Where’s part 2?
Currently sat on the dining table - sorry! Real life has just been pretty busy over the past 18 months or so - promise I'll get it sorted out soon
Amazing tutorials. I will follow it for my own Legio for Epic Armageddon. Thanks a lot
Hope you’re okay, dude. You’ve not uploaded any content for a while 👀
All good thanks, just crazy busy! I have just invested in a the bits to improve the rig I've got so hopefully it'll make filming a bit easier
can you dapple effect using sponge?
MEAT FOR THE MEAT GOD!
Awesome. I often find the lack of interior details in Warhammer 40K/Necromunda terrain uninspiring. This adds so much flavor. Reminds me of the scene in Demolition Man where John Spartan is served a rat burger...
This stuff is amazing!
would you trust a kebab shack on Necromunda?
Well you might only trust it once 🤣
awesome! You could put some pipes in the gap?
Absolutely. Lots of potential for putting extra pipes and random gubbins into the various gaps
Awesome! I now want to make a whole series of similar shacks for an underhive market. Hope to see more necromunda vids soon.
I've got the next model ready to record - just need to find some elusive free time to sort that out
Great video, well presented and informative. I've been on the fence about upgrading my airbrush i have a cheap one at the moment and wanted something better. i was torn between this one and a patriot 105. My main problem being price between them but after watching you I'm decided on the infinity. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Thank you! Am glad this video has helped, I've used mine quite a bit now and it's a lovely brush, despite the price tag!
Mmmmm 🤔
Excellent tip for using the zone mortalis walls!
Thank you!
👏👏👏
Thanks!
@@RuneBrush welcome 🙃
Can I get this in the us?
At the moment it would appear not, the chap producing it was having some issues with shipping internationally - he's also temporarily run out of stock! However, all is not lost. The next batch he gets he's said (according to the Unto the Breach Twitter account) he's hoping to have sorted out the international shipping issues
They ship international now but the cost is too crazy. I live in Canada and it's like £24 for the 1L bottle and shipping is also £24 but they won't let you add multiple bottles to a single order - doing so the website pops up a warning saying there's a 1 bottle limit per cart. I can't pay $80 CAD just to get a bottle of this - that's outrageous.
@@Weaver_Games I had been wondering about this for weeks thank you for reminding me
amazing! you got a new, happy subscriber! :-)
Much appreciated!
That's a great idea..
Thank you!
1:30 the fairly clever thing is to not waste $60 on a 2x2' section of board and just make the floor with any other crafting substance.
I can understand that line of thought and there are certainly other options out there, especially if you're not after the metal effect that the boards give and happy to go with something other than plastic. I do think the plastic ones do have benefits - but they are a premium product. My own intention is to mix these into some existing MDF tiles/scenery I picked up years ago
@@RuneBrush So you can print 6" by 6" tiles pretty easily with A cheap little Creality Ender 3 printer. It costs me about 33 cents per square foot to print and if you combine that with Room temperature galvanizing silicone molding you can drop the cost to < 10 cents per foot.
I think it depends entirely on how far you want to go down the rabbit hole of 3d printing and casting. I physically don't have anywhere to set up a 3d printer without losing other hobby space. I'd also say that your cost per square foot is based purely on raw materials. Time, electricity, wasted prints, tidy up and the cost of a $200 printer need to be factored in - your millage will vary hugely if you only use a 3d printer to do a couple of dozen pieces versus printing out hundreds of bits during the lifetime of your printer. I think the TL:DR version is that if you've access to a 3d printer and know what you're up to, it's a great alternative/complement to the more expensive GW ZM stuff. There's some amazing (and free) STL files available on various Necromunda community groups out there too, so you can get some nice pieces without having to do all the kitbashing if that's not your thing.
@@garfieldwithissuez this is a project within my interests.
@@longhunter5935 it's a great hobby overall and you can get into it for around $200 US with a Creality Ender 3 off Amazon. Cheaper than that if you go off Alibaba or some other Chinese company.
Great stuff man!
Thanks!
Funny effect. There are some stencils for color distressing available for some time. Also saw some people use stretched scotch pads. All give different effects. Thanks for pointing us to the additional tool.
I think as time goes on you end up collecting all sorts of different things you can use to achieve subtle (and not so subtle) finishes to break up flat areas. I've used camo patterns on a Maw Krusha once to achieve soft patterning on it's scales that worked pretty well :)
Really enjoyed, looking forward to seeing more necromunda videos
Thanks! Am working out what to do for the next one :)
Great tutorial. I’d love to see more ZM videos like this.
I'm certainly planning the next one!
