It's said by his fellow Marines and Superior Officers that Hathcock had the hability to blend with his surroundings naturally what made him so effective as a Sniper. He had to cross a field several hundred yards long & the enemy got so close to him they stepped on his hand & didn't know it. He moved so slowly it took 30min. to get a drink from his canteen. He was up for 4 days (I think) when this was concluded.

Saw a recording of THE MAN describing in detail the days of being barely mobile. The snakes,bugs,dogs,the patrols that all but stepped on him. This one shot and many of his others on HVT saved so many guys in green. RIP Lon Trang
