    One of the things I found helpful a tape recorder to take myself saying certain things then replaying it and trying to remember everything I played and say it back before I hear it on the tape. Then I try doing the same thing again at the fastest speed.

    Okay, Emily. I've been studying Jordanian Arabic in my spare time for a few years now, and I was blown away by the rich depth of this video!! Anyone who has not spent hours of their free time looking for appropriate learning resources and comprehensible input for Levantine Arabic will have NO IDEA how amazing this compilation is! WOW! Cowabunga!! 😍🤗😲I started this video expecting to learn about a couple of unfamiliar resources, but you've introduced me to SEVERAL resources, channels, and programs that are completely new to me AND a dream come true! After years of one-on-one lessons, I've recently been wishing that I could take an inexpensive group class with other intermediate students and talk about a topic. And now I'm going to look into Real Syrian Arabic! And Hob Learning sounds awesome--and it focuses on Jordanian Arabic! YAY!!!! Unbelievable!! It's so hard to find much content in that dialect.🤩I'm surprised you didn't mention the Al Rawabi School for Girls on Netflix, which is set in Amman. Season 2 of the series has Ammiyah captions and it's very well-done... a much higher quality than Jinn and tackling important social issues like bullying and the dangers of social media on youth. Question: Where on earth did you find The Little Prince in Arabic for $2?? I only found hardcover versions of it and they're like $30... Please advise!!! 🙏I'm totally getting into reading these days. Lastly, I just want to point out that some of the materials on PDF Drive must be illegally free... Some of those textbooks (not the Syrian one that you recommended the highest) are currently for sale on Amazon or on Lingualism's website... Not sure how they're able to do that but just thought I'd point it out. A HUGE thank you for all the time, effort, dedication, and generosity represented in this video!!! I've watched other videos like this by people like Mummy in Amman and Zoe Languages, but you seriously take first prize! 💯

      @@rashidah9307 so excited to hear from a fellow arabic learner with tons of passion! Thanks for your additional suggestions, I will look into them. Also can highly recommend the "speaking arabic" series from minerva publishing (4 books from a1-b2 with audio, most organized way I have been refreshing arabic, though it doesn't use arabic Script unfortunately). Also, when i got the little prince for that low a price, it must have been a mistake pricing (like a mistake fare for a plane ticket I am guessing) because the price has definitely gone higher since then, i guess i found and bought it at the right time. Let me know how it goes with Tammam and his group, he is a great teacher and who I'm taking lessons from currently!

      @rashidah9307 9 дней назад

      @@languagetraveladoptee I have the Speaking Arabic series, too!! It's great! It IS frustrating that he didn't introduce Arabic script by book 2, and it just makes it a little bit harder for me to know how to really spell new vocab or to ask my tutor questions about phrases in the dialogues... But I've found his explanations as a non-native Arabic speaker to be SO insightful! Well, it looks like I'll just have to pay a little more for The Little Prince if I want to read it. The Levantine translation was done by the same company that published Speaking Arabic! Have you heard of Jordanian singer Dana Salah? I love her songs "Dum Tak," "Harzaneh," and "Weino;" her voice is incredible!

    I m italian, not even far being advanced in english. But despite this, i did pimsleur german. Since the beginning i had the feeling i was learning, slowly, step by step, but learning and specially memorizing. It s the only resource that gives me the capabiliy of memorize and dont easily forget. It s just a powerful method. And as italian, i found double difficulty as i need in my brain first translating the english instructios in italian, and then in german. But at the beginning of the 4th level i can understand easy podcast and videos and i started to tandem, meaning that i can already keep easy conversations, to stat to get used with structure tenses. The point is that pimsleur gives you a strong basis, after that u have to move on and practice talking. Only practicing u can improve fluency and vocabulary. I just used quickly a grammar to understand the tekamolo and when reversing subject-verb. That s it. All what i know comes from pimsleur. Using also pimsleur russian, 2nd level now. A bit easier than german for me. Tried as well pimsleur hungarian, but that s was useless, as just one level for hungarian is too little. U learn too few things to start really to tandem with somebody. And i ve been very interested in your pimsleur chinese as i was wondering if its just like others or not, being chinese of course totally different from the european languages. But glad to see the approach is the same. I ll give ita a try in the future. Thank you for your analysys.

    Agree with it being tough to think of stuff on the spot even if you've had no issues thinking of it during the lessons. That's not necessarily a fault of Pimsleur but it just shows that you need supplementary exercises to get really good. It's hard to get that part of your brain working if you have nobody to speak with in real life.

When I get fluent enough in a language that I can speak quickly (with not so many mistakes I can't be understood), I actually kind of turn into an extrovert. You could say I love the sound of my voice - I just love speaking the language. What would seem like a boring conversation to me in my native language is stimulating and fun in the target language. I am doing Pimsleur now in French, Italian, and mandarin. Here is the difference I noticed.. Before Pimsleur I had memorized about 1500 French words, and a bunch of verbs, including past and future tenses. So far the French is very enjoyable. I’m moving very quickly because I need to understand French being spoken to me. Memorizing a bunch of vocab is great, but it seems to cause me not to be able to understand it being spoken back to me . …………..( hense the enjoyment of Pimsleur French.) Same thing with Mandarin as I learned several hundred words and phrases before Pimsleur. However, with Italian, I knew literally maybe 10 words going into Pimsleur and I’m struggling, and it feels slow. Because of my previous memorization, with French and some mandarin I feel it’s quite useful, but I’m up in the air about the Italian, knowing almost nothing beforehand.. . To me Pimsleur seems very good in conjunction with doing some other memorization. I won’t fully know how good Pimsleur is until I go through the entire Italian and see how it does compared to the French and mandarin where I learned outside of Pimsleur.

    One resource that I'm finding extremely helpful for french specifically is called Linguno. I discovered it by accident, it's a completely free resource (there isn't even any paid plan) featuring basically infinite listening exercises in which you can choose the voice and even the accent, and straight-to-the-point exercises to expand your vocabulary and learn irregular verbs, with detailed explanations when you mess up anything or clarifying slight difference in the meaning of words with multiple example sentences. As soon as I started Linguno I felt like my french learning process was going 5x speed compared to Babbel or any other resource I've tried. If you add some real french videos, that will also help of course, passive learning is still important; however for the *active* learning process, I'd highly recommend Linguno, it just feels so much more productive than multiple paid courses/apps I've tried. In fact, I find crazy that nobody is even talking about it, I guess it's probably because it feels truly complete only for french, while in other languages (namely German) there aren't nearly as many explanations

    I did pimsleur spanish all five levels and I can say that until the ending of level 4 I knew what seemed to be random tourist phrasebook stuff but when I reached the second half of level 5 I had enough vocabulary that everything started to click and I became able to make sentences by scratch. I think all languages in this method are built over the same pattern and I hope I will experience the same when I reach the last level of pimsleur mandarin.
