Freeman is a band from Jakarta, Indonesia, formed in 2016 by Radhiya Mardian (guitar) and Tririzky (bass). Later that year, Athallah Bahsuan (vocals) joined the band, completing their initial lineup. In 2019, Freeman decided to add a rhythm player. They first thought of recruiting a second guitarist but instead chose their old friend Dior Madhan (keyboard) to bring a new dynamic to their sound. In 2020, looking for a more rock-oriented drummer, Athallah invited his high school friend Rajata Tahier (drums) to join as the final member. "Love, A" is the third single from our upcoming album, "Prelude". Written and composed in 2020 by Athallah Bahsuan and Radhiya Mardian, this heartfelt rock ballad is the first emotional track to set the tone for our debut album.
Created during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, the song was born from calls between Athallah and Radhiya. Wanting to capture raw emotion, Athallah shared stories from his love life, which inspired the song’s hauntingly beautiful intro. The rest of the song came together effortlessly, as it was crafted from nothing but pure reality.

Good job. I kept waiting for a synth to play a few bars of lead. U guys engineer this yourself? I like the wah pedal at the end also.
Thanks so much! Yes, we engineered it ourselves. Funny thing is, when we first arranged this cover, it actually had only a synth solo. But we felt it got a bit repetitive, so we decided to add a guitar solo at the end to mix things up. And you're spot on about the wah, it’s actually more of an imitation of a Leslie speaker for that haunting, spacey vibe. Thanks again, and we hope you enjoy our rendition of Bowie's iconic song!
