The best of the best 👏🏻 Magnificent, I mean this song and this performance piano is the climax what we call classical music. Greetings from Ecuator 🇪🇨
Cheers Juan!
@Rael Jones thank you for the reply, I'm interested in different instruments generally, as well as my interest in composers like yourself. A friend of mine has huge collection of weird and wonderful percussion instruments mainly from Africa and India . They are all mainly drum oriented, or primitive things you hit..no strings! And I know of a guy in Eire with a collection of unusual Irish folk type instruments and other things. I don't own or play anything unusual myself I just like hearing new things. I do remember thinking "Hurdy Gurdy" in your music. The classical guitar place I used to go to hang out at in the eighties, and also have lessons was very close to an "Irish Pub". You would see and hear a lot of interesting things there with live impromptu music all the time. Sometimes only a couple of musicians, to well over a dozen joining in, cumming and going. In the future I will put some video online of my new Guitar, in RUclips when I get it.. I only currently have a few videos and photos of it on WhatsApp. Recently I started re-listening to Tim Hecker after watching the depressing drama about the Whaling Ship, called The North Water. He wrote all of the music. I'm into most "minimalist" types of music. I also just watched The Mother, a British film with music by Jeremy Sams , who's music I also liked. I like a Very broad range of music. While typing this I am listening to "The Glowing Man" by SWANS from 2016. I like lots of their recordings, Especially the " big three ' long albums from 2012, 2014, 2016. Earlier I was listening to Omar Rodriguez-Lopez live recordings from some of his recent live recordings . There's one which becomes so off piste with some amazing drumming, without bars , that is somehow held down by the bass player , on RUclips...11 years ago ... My copy and paste.. "Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group Live Los Angeles(WIP) I 916K views · 11 years ago" I guess before my stepdad appeared in 1972 my biggest influences when I was very little, was the vinyl in the house, The Beatles,The Stones , various jazz pianists and classical stuff and West Side Story for some reason.. He brought Roxy Music, Stevie Wonder, Deep Purple, and my biggest influence Pink Floyd...I especially those recordings from 1965-1972(including pre-floyd oddities) , and the ones 1973-1979 I also like a lot with "Wish You Were Here" being my favourite from the second grouping. Sorry, I could go on forever like this. Best Wishes John.
Cheers John, I share many of the same influences, and in fact have worked with Jeremy Sams a number of times, he is brilliant.
I just wanted to say that I was impressed by the music that you wrote for the film I watched last night "The Toll" and tried to find it, or the score online . But had no success with either. But I have discovered your other Music and thoroughly enjoyed Thumpermonkey ... Live at The Victoria. I played a bit of classical guitar in the eighties and managed to get Grade 8, but now I only play Electric guitar due to stamina problems. I've noticed a strange stringed instrument in a photo which I've yet to investigate, and thought I'd mention that I'm having a guitar built with True Temperament Frets to play more complex harmony on , because I get Very frustrated with the guitar being out of tune with itself. It's taken a long time from researching, design and actually building and should be ready for me to pick up in two weeks. It's been rather interesting with regular photo updates and actually visiting the workshop in June when the neck was carved and the Frets and strings were on, so that I could feel it. It had a general body shape and no electronics. Unfortunately it's several hours drive and i don't travel so well. He's been incredibly patient with me and has serviced one of my guitars, and is doing some major refurbishment to two of my older guitars, when the new one us finished. From the three guitars he's handled, and what I like most about each guitar, plus my sketches and descriptions he got the neck spot on. Start to finish it will have been October 2021- September 2022. Started officially when I paid a significant deposit in November for the rather pricey frets to be made, and so that we could chose the woods needed which were glued and left for a decent amount of time. I'm looking forward to finding out about that odd looking instrument of yours and enjoying listening to much more of your music. Regards John, Hampshire... near to Winchester POSTSCRIPT.....it took a lot of navigation to find again...but what is the bowed instrument that you play in "Clutched Heart" season 2 of Harlots.
Hey John. Glad you liked the Toll. The soundtrack isn't available anywhere as yet - its up to me to release it, just need to find time. Glad you like Thumpermonkey too - we do occasional gigs, next one is London so a bit of a schlep from Winchester but there'll be others if you're interested. The instrument in clutched heart is the Octavharpa, its a bass version of the Nyckelharpa, a Swedish folk instrument. I have both and a Hurdy Gurdy to cover all the bases - all got a lot of use in the Harlots soundtracks. Best of luck with your bespoke guitar build, it sounds great.
@@RaelJones thank you for the reply...I'm halfway through writing s reply...will send later as battery low
@@RaelJones the guitar I had commissioned with an Evertune Bridge, True Temperament Frets on a Neckthrough construction, with two carbon fibre rods for extra strength and stability was finished recently. I made a quick video comparing it to my Shawn Lane Vigier. I picked that Vigier model for it's flat fretboard.
I have no words! It is absolutely something unbelievable! I am a fan of your music, Rael! If you have some note sheets, can you share the link? I want to learn to play it as well :D
Thanks! The piano sheet music is available here www.sheetmusicdirect.com/se/ID_No/124032/Product.aspx?currency=GBP&scid=scplp124032&sc_intid=124032&gclid=CjwKCAjwwo-WBhAMEiwAV4dybVclxMxmDetRLB6ghCaAayz99hJOO4YUPsRLE4Mks6wRS_EgR3Xz8RoC0ugQAvD_BwE
wow!!!! lovelyyyyyy!!! the version with the orchestra is also incredibly moving !!...
Thanks!
Beautiful, with a sense of dark wonder
Cheers Jesse!
@raeljones I ‘found’ you through the score for The Toll. Is the music for this film available as an album?
Hi Dave, hi and thanks for the interest. The Toll soundtrack is not currently available as a separate release but could make it so if there was enough demand. We managed to get many of the good score moments into the end credits roller so watching that is always an option for now!
Are this film
Awesome! Love the sound of the strings with the steel string guitar!
I do with 22 strings what you do with 4!
@@RaelJones Ha ha! I have enough trouble with 4!
Hermoso
Gracias!
Amazing, thank you for sharing the behind-the-scenes! I'd like to see a video about your Suite Francaise score. Thanks!
Thanks Madison. We actually did record some footage during the Suite Française sessions but never released it. I’ll hunt it out tomorrow!
Any chance of getting the version of "Talk Tonight" used in the film? Really brought an extra element to the scene it was used in.
I looked you up because of Harlots. What amazing talent! Would you please consider a full length version of Follow the Drum? I get the melody stuck in my head constantly.
you're extremely underrated. i love the work you've done, very eclectic and little tid bits of your influence come out in each thing i hear from you. please keep up the excellent work
Oliver Rios thanks for listening and commenting Oliver!
where can i find that violin bit. that touched me in the film. Cheers
Will Mclaughlin I am too looking for that song that is played around 50:00 where there talking about their father. So beautiful but can’t find it anywhere
Hey Will. It’s not available except in the film at present! I’ll look into doing some kind of digital soundtrack release...
@@RaelJones please do, it's amazing
Gosh darn... I just watched My Cousin Rachel, which I thought was mediocre at best, but the music... The music was lit. That led me here, and Rael is the truth. 👌🏻
Who would down thumb this? Genius.
Thanks Sel! It wouldn't be youtube without a thumb down or two. You could upload a video that single-handedly ended illness, poverty and war and it would get thumbs down and "LAME" written on it.
tricorne was my favorite, thanks very much for the interesting soundtrack
Rael, you talented, talented man, you!
My first message to you: Dear Rael, A few weeks ago I saw, for the first time, the movie "Suite Francaise" that's how I found you. You are amazing,I love this music that helped me to find the answer that I was looking for. My soul is devasted because all the injustices that we lived nowadays, my soul is like "A storm in June". I can't see anymore children and women imprisoned in the refugee camps. These people are so brave and hopefully. I remember the last words that written Irène Nèmirovsky at her daughters and husbend before she was made prisoner. Nowadays we are leaving the third and the fourth chapter of Irène's book but the last one called the "Peace" seems that no one wants to live them. Irène in Greeks means Peace, what a kind of irony! Today, 5th May, the Council of Europe celebrates The European Day with the notes of the anthem of the European Union that is "Ode to Joy" of Beethoven's 9th Symphony and the blu flag with the stars. What a shame! When I listend "I am free", when I saw you playing piano forte it was like a vision of many children faces that you with your's hands caressed them. I have a picture of you that play "I am free" in Idomeni refugees camp, in the night full of stars, with the partiture projected directly on the blu sky. The Irène Nèmirovsky's book was concepted like a symphonic poem in five chapters and I hope that your music will be the answer at the last one. I feel like I found all the pieces of the great dream of our liberty, I have the sensasion that I can see the light of the world that I've promised at my little daughter. With all my love, Paula
You are a Real magician.
+Paula Maria Luca Thanks Paula
This is the music for accompany my letter to an extraordinary teacher.Thank you for this wonderful gift.
My most sincere congratulations, Rael. I wonder if you were named after the Genesis character ! Greetings, thanks for inspiring me to not give up studying music with your music. My best wishes, from my hometown of Guayaquil, in Ecuador.
Thanks very much Carlos! You are right - my name does originate from the Genesis character. Hope you're having a good time in Ecuador.
Rael Jones - Yes, I'm trying to. Studying music ain't that easy as you may know but it's worth the effort. These days I've been showing your music to my fellas to get you some more ecuadorian fans as well. I know your music thru, our mutual buddy Matt Stevens. Is there any way I can contact you, I'd like to talk about music and piano with you.
