    Never understood why Arab countries have so many skyscrapers; you have so much land to expand outwards, why go up? Would have been cool to see all that money spent on cool Islamic architecture than gaudy glass towers.

    • @jamium
      @jamium 9 месяцев назад

      I completely agree, I love Islamic architecture as well! Although, they probably don’t have that much space to expand into to be honest, it’s mostly just desert. To be fair, the urban areas used to also be desert, so they do have quite limited urban space.

    Sometimes manipulated..... I guess this is false. Propaganda is the tool how to manipulate ignorant majorities of peoples. The minority who has enough brain capacity to not be influenced by the propaganda is always loosing.... And unfortunately this has nothing to do with democracy. The only way to fight this behavior - good, as close to reality as possible, education.

    This is an inaccurate mathematical model. In the case of A and B candidates, it would reason that since they’re both equidistant from the three voters the voters don’t necessarily have a proclivity towards either one of the candidates. Therefore the three voters would have a 50 percent chance of voting for either A or B. This means that on average A is guaranteed two votes and the other three candidates votes are split. This would average 3.5 votes for candidate A and 1.5 votes for candidate B.

    • @jamium
      @jamium Год назад

      It is true that I didn’t consider the probability of the voters still voting for A. In this video, I assumed that these people were 100% rational people who would always vote for whoever is closest to them. Thanks for pointing out the mistake though.

    YOU FORGOR THE RICK ASTLEY PARADOX 😭😭😂 Imagine you meet Rick Astley. In his possession is a DVD copy of the Disney Pixar movie “Up”. Assume you were to ask him for the DVD. Rick Astley claims that he will never give you up, but by not giving you Up, he’s letting you down, which he also claims he’ll never do. If Rick Astley were to do neither and walk away instead, this would also be a problem because he claims that he’ll never say goodbye and desert you. If none of these options seems viable and Rick Astley instead decides to kill you, that wouldn’t work because he will never hurt you. He can’t lie about not owning “Up” because he won’t tell a lie. Rick Astley can’t deny the paradox because he knows the rules, and so do I.

      @@jy7213 It's not completely arbitrary how they assess the factors, however I do agree that the factors which they choose are very random and only align with Western viewpoints of what a successful university means, which means Chinese or Indian universities tend to do worse on their scale.

    • @jy7213
      @jy7213 Год назад

      @@jamium Yes, it is totally arbitrary. For example, in terms of academic reputation, I have often received questionnaires asking me to rank universities from other countries that I have never heard of. Of the universities that I have heard of, I have no way of knowing how good they really are. I have not heard of all or even some of their professors give research talks or have read even a small fraction of the publications from these universities. Nor am I qualified to judge the quality of the publications in every field. Others who are asked to rank are undoubtedly in the same situation. Some universities even ask their faculty to rank their own school higher and along similar lines, you may be tempted to rank competing schools lower so that your school will get the upper hand. And why should sustainability get the same weight as academic reputation? Sustainability has no impact on the quality of education or the success of graduates. It's complete nonsense.
