Slow play is the biggest sin in Golf!!! Doesn't matter if it is on tour or a Recreational Round. Golf Courses need to have Golfers sign an agreement that if their group is holding up the rest of the Course, they speed up play, or leave. 18 holes should be played in 4 hours or less.

The point I was trying to make, perhaps poorly, is USGA rules should only apply to official events, not casual golfers. Golfers playing for fun should do whatever they want, hence gimmes and mulligans.

I watched Freddy tee off on every hole at the Colonial 20 some years ago. His swing was so smooth and effortless that I could not stop thinking about it. It looked so easy but it’s almost impossible to replicate consistently. Something about the flexibility of his arms and torso combined with his tempo. I don’t know.

If it’s a waste bunker, you can ground your club. I refuse to be a Waze bunker so he may not be cheating.
