Roadtrek 190 Fridge fan and light installation
Is the fridge in your Roadtrek 190 not staying cool enough when using AC or DC power, getting lots of ice build up in your freezer, tired of cranking the knob up to seven just to keep your food cool? I created this video just for you. Let me guide you through the process I used to install a custom made circulation fan and light in your rv fridge. I may have missed this part (sorry I've been watching all your videos and I very much appreciate them), But I guess I don't understand the purpose of this thing. Given that there is water tanks in the road trek itself. Is that so you can dump like.. hose water or questionable water source water in there and it will slowly trickle through and give you some good drinking water? Or do you fill that with water from the clean water tank and that helps you feel certain of it's cleanliness? And I was thinking it was going to have some kind of catchment system on the roof or something and that's why it's vertical like that but I guess you just fill up the top bin?

    • @Davesgreatideas
      @Davesgreatideas 12 часов назад

      @@kansaslindsay8268great question, well I don’t trust 24 year old “clean “water tanks on Roadtrek. Even when you bleach them and clean them, the old pipes and tank can be questionable. This is a gravity fed water filtration system. So yes, you pour the water in the top and it slowly trickles down filtering out contaminants. I have since switched over to a Britta water filter system that is more than adequate for potable water from campsites. thanks for your question and thanks for watching, I appreciate you.🙂

    Good video, and one question - wouldn't it be better to mount the fan grills on the other side so nothing can get jammed into the blades from the fridge side (a plastic bag, a finger, etc)?

    if you remove the regulator from the bbq you can just use the low pressure that supplied the water heater. They do not use high pressure that is why there is a regulator.

    lol, I got a kick out of the spoiler alerts on the epoxy 'filler' on the door panel. Laughing WITH not AT 🤣. Glad I watched to the end, I always had this 'brilliant' idea that I would someday get an adapter for my on-board propane tank to use for outdoor cooking. Yeah ... maybe not! I'm sure if there was a pressure regulator-hose-adapter-thingy that would work, you would (now) know about it.

      While I like your humor and watch your videos mostly just for the entertainment value, I kinda disagree with making so many alterations to your RV. Personally I like mine the way it was manufactured, have done some changes and upgrades but nothing to change the original design or alter how it functions. Personally I chucked my original useless water heater which had leaked out and rotted my floor under the seat and swapped it for a new on demand water heater so I have as much hot water as I want as long as I have full hookups.

    I own a 2003 Popular 190 and have a bit of experience with solar and would like to address one item. A risk in any installation is the positive + red wire running from the battery to some device becoming dead shorted to chassis, this could result in a fire and/or system damage. I advise all attachments directly to house battery bus, be fused. You can calculate your fuse size using Ohms law or just size it based on the max current recorded on the controller. An ideal instalation would have separate positive and negative bus bars in/near the battery compartment. This will allow for only one conductor attached directly to each battery terminal from the termination bus (for ease of disconnect) and a place to fuse branch circuits for the other devices. Fair motoring, Dan
